I'm beginning to question the future of privacy coins like ZCash, since this year, many cryptocurrencies have faced regulatory hurdles from governments worldwide. At any moment, governments around the world could force centralized exchanges from trading privacy coins simply because they're untraceable. If this happens, then many coins like ZEC and XMR will be doomed in the future. Don't take me wrong, but I think that privacy coins are the most genius invention ever created, as it solves one of the most critical issues underlying Bitcoin right now. It's just that I'm concerned that there could exist a possibility of governments acting against such currencies, to prevent money laundering or other criminal activities.

Everything aside, ZCash could be a very good investment for the future if it continues to grow in adoption and development. It has started slow, but steady, gaining traction over the cryptocurrency market every step of the way. And I think that once it enforces Shielded Transactions by default, and adopts the new ZK-STARKS technology, then ZCash would become a truly fungible cryptocurrency just like Monero. Then, its price would skyrocket as people would adopt it for their daily transactions.

It is a good long term investment IMO. ZEC low marketcap is due to bigger inflation than other coins (12.5 new ZEC every blocks for only 3M total coins) which cause sell pressure but as soon as the reward for miners goes down the price might explode, like, possibly, dozens of thousands of dollars.
