When I try to set a custom fee, I get the following window where I can literally do nothing - there is no field to enter the fee, and the keyboard is not displayed at all. You need to click inside the small grey field titled "fee" above the OK button to enter a fee rate. Doesn't it work on your end? The keyboard on my phone doesn't activate either until I click on that field. When I compare the image you uploaded and my first picture, you don't seem to suffer from the same overlapping issue that I see. In my case, the "insert custom fee" text is hardly visible because the OK button covers it. On your phone, the OK button is below the fee field. Weird gui glitches.

....... I think it's time for a new smartphone, it started behaving strangely lately, but what to expect after 5 years. Yeah, there seems to be something wrong with your smartphone or your smartphone software since when I go to the custom fee area of BlueWallet, I get the same screen as you get, but I also get a pop up keyboard at the bottom and my cursor is located in the fee area. I am using IOS, but I would still imagine that there is a need for the keyboard to pop up when you open the custom fee option which would cause the fee area of your image to become an input field. Unfortunately, nothing works, and I suspect the problem could be with outdated Android or something specific to the smartphone itself. Maybe I'll try uninstalling the app and then trying to install it again - although I somehow doubt that this can fix the problem, because this problem didn't exist before and only appeared with the upgrade to newer versions of BW.

The first is that I can't set a custom fee because when that window opens I can't type anything in, it's like the menu overlaps in some strange way. I thought this would be resolved with new versions, but the problem still exists.
I think it's time for a new smartphone, it started behaving strangely lately, but what to expect after 5 years.
I suspect the problem could be with outdated Android or something specific to the smartphone itself.
I had no luck reproducing your issue on my Android phone, but considering that it only requires " Android 7.0 and up [Nougat was released in 2016]", I think any 5-year old Android phone should still be fine for BlueWallet. Still, if it's bothering you, perhaps you can temporarily " downgrade to an older release".

The last thing I can think of is that you try to change your phone's screen resolution if it has that option. Or you can decrease the font size to see if that changes the positioning of the buttons in Blue Wallet. If you can't click inside the grey fee field but your phone's touch works normally in other apps, it might be that something is overlapping like you initially mentioned, making the fee field unclickable.

I don't think downgrading is an option I really like, because I'm planning on buying a new smartphone soon anyway, so I hope everything will work as it should on it.
@Pmalek, I tried that too, but changing the resolution and font size didn't make any difference. Maybe I'll think of something else, or maybe the next BW update will fix it.

Maybe I'll think of something else, or maybe the next BW update will fix it. I am out of ideas and can't think of why that is happening. This isn't a small problem, especially if it impacts multiple devices and systems. It might be the beginning of other problems that impact other areas of the software. You could create a new issue on Electrum's GitHub page, explain the problem, and see if their team will come back with a way to fix it or if more people will confirm your story and share similar experiences.

@Pmalek, I have not found a single similar case, which means that it is still something specific related to the smartphone model that I have. I looked at their github and this example is closest to the problem I have. What's interesting is that when I go to the RBF option, the fee change window is fully functional. What we can notice is that here all options are in one window, and it would be logical that this is also the case with the initial selection of the fee.

@Lucius There was an update to BlueWallet for Android phones yesterday. The changelog doesn't mention anything specific. It only says bug fixes. Since the overlapping issue we discussed appeared only after the last update you installed, maybe their developers noticed and patched it in the latest version. Check your Play Store to see if it's available for your phone.

@Pmalek, I noticed the update and downloaded it to see if anything had changed. I clicked on custom and it worked, I was able to enter fee, only to have the problem reappear later. Now I have a situation where sometimes I get that window where I can't do anything at all, and sometimes everything works normally.
I don't know if it has anything to do with the fact that some wallets are imported and some are created in BW, although the problem occurs in both versions.

So they are working on it, they just need more time to patch it up. This morning there was a new Blue Wallet update. Perhaps they finally figured out why that is happening and it's now fixed. I don't know if it has anything to do with the fact that some wallets are imported and some are created in BW, although the problem occurs in both versions. I don't think that's it, considering that you are experiencing it in both types of wallets. But if you like to play around with these types of bugs, you can always reinstall the software and create a new wallet. See if it happens there. Then, import your old wallets one by one.

There is some progress at least. So they are working on it, they just need more time to patch it up. This morning there was a new Blue Wallet update. Perhaps they finally figured out why that is happening and it's now fixed. ~snip~
The new update has brought things back to the beginning, the custom fee is not responding again, and the Slow fee option is also not responding. It doesn't seem to me that they know about it at all, rather the update before last made a small difference quite by accident, and the latest one reverted everything back to the way it was. When I have time I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling and we'll see if that makes any difference.

I just finished updating mine to the latest version [v7.1.5 (this APK is incorrectly labeled as v.7.1.6 on GitHub)] on the 14th version of Android and everything was fine from my end. - What's the current version of Android on the device in question?[...] but I 'm not aware which app version I am running at the moment. It's on an airgapped phone, so I don't update it often, but I have forgotten the app version and it works fine. Alternatively, you can find the current app version by clicking the three dots [horizontal ellipsis] in the upper right corner of BlueWallet > about > scroll down to the footer area.

I am using version 7.1.6, which I assume is the newest version, and I don't see that split screen visible in your screenshot. There is no 'Transactions' section at my end at all. Transaction data only becomes available if I open one of my funded wallets. I threw a quick look at the settings to see if there is an option to enable/tick something like what you are seeing but I couldn't find anything. The bug must be related to specific devices only.

If I were to guess, I'd say the latest version probably isn't properly optimized for certain types of Android UIs [it usually affects the behavior of the app (in the past months, Lucius reported about a slightly different issue concerning overlaps, so I think these issues are somewhat connected)]. - Does it affect the functionalities of buttons?
