3. I'm thinking everyone who participates gets 1 point, no matter position. Add total members together as points x2 that the top 9 will play for. If there are 20 people playing, there's 40 points to play for - then divide it fairly for the FT, like so:

1st - 10 pts
2nd - 8pts
3rd - 6pts
4th - 5pts
5th - 4pts
6th - 3pts
7th - 2pt
8th - 1pt
9th - 1pt

So if you win you get a total of 11pts (the FT bonus + 1 for participating). This means that the field will be incredibly even and there's always something to play for. IMO.

4. If we do the final as just a FT (best 9 in terms of points after the "season") We could just make it the 8 best players and add all players who played all tournaments but did not qualify in a lucky loser pool that gives one of them direct access to the Finals.

5. 2 Tournaments / Week is ideal. Wednesdays and Sundays, can have different starting times. Could also have different structures/formats for these two, like one turbo and one regular.

6. Depending on format, ~150BB

7. Turbo Wednesday / Regular Sunday. Could be fun.

I’m not familiar with your previous structure, but in terms of buy-in and point system I would do something like $20+$5, where $20 is the buy-in to the tournament and $5 goes towards a series leaderboard.
If you have for example 10 games in the series with an average of 100 players per tournament that would be $5,000 towards the leaderboard. Ranking the too players would get them each a piece of the pie according to a point system.

This would probably be ideal for players that dont want to play all the games and know they wont rank on the leaderboard, but would enjoy playing one or 2 games with a prizepool they could win at the end of each tournament.

The reason for the points system is that you collect points throughout a "season" and the top 9 players in points once the season is finished are entered into a championship tournament without a buy-in to compete for who is the best. Finding a sponsor makes it more exciting but otherwise we can just take it from previous tournaments too.

2. What start time would suit most of you? In the past it has been between 4-6pm UTC. Works for some, not so much for others. If you answer this question use UTC time please.

The time is a problem for me to follow tournament poker. Sometime is clashing with my activity, and sometimes too late (like 4-6pm UTC, it is midnight here) so I couldn't follow because I had to sleep, even if it is the weekend. 12-2 PM UTC is perfect time for me.

We can only dream of having that many players in this tournament... I think at best there can be between 20 and 30 players, and that is in the first games. When we get near the end of the series that number always drops to the +10 players who have a chance at the final board. Maybe with the change in structure, there will be more people, but that remains to be seen if the Bitcointalk poker series starts up again.

Playing 2 games a week for 4 weeks straight seems boring so probably two games a week with different format would be great imo. One for the regular game and another one for PKO game, probably with different starting time as well to accomodate some players

Probably around 15-20 players though, could be even less when some people decided to stop because they wont have enough point for the grand final

A tournament on the corresponding day (reached by agreement), and another one that would be called Second Chance (Sunday) with a buyin of 2x that of the first tournament.

The leaderboard cannot be flat (the one we have always had), that is, to assign those in the tournament classification points, It must be done by a formula that takes into account the register (# players) since this varies a lot every Q#.

So, that formula benefits accordingly when 20 register and when 10 register, likewise, if only (for example) five players register for the Second Chance , they don't automatically get points.

We've seen this in past seasons, players earning 10 points in Q# with a registration of 7, 8 players, and then you have another tournament where 20 register and the first place player earns the same 10.

A proper formula would add excitement and perhaps attract more players... I think it's not so much about the buy-in.

For the rest, just tell me the date and the buyin, ah!, 10,000 chips (100 blinds)

I agree, it has just been the standard format in the past so I have always used it for the points. I've asked for input before and didn't really get much, but this time around there have been a few decent suggestions.

It would also help combat that if anyone committed was committed for the whole series. We have 20 players and 20 players only, anyone else interested should have played game 1. Anyone who played game 1 has to play all in the series whether they win em all or lose em all. I doubt that type of structure would interest some as the past shows us that once someone feels like they have no shot, they tuck tail and run.

If this series happens, there will be a change to the points system and there will be something in place to give a spot or 2 to some who didn't qualify somehow.

I think 100 participants is a very very veeeery long shot. Freerolls posted in here don't even get that many players recently. So it's hard to get that for a buyin tournament.

I think 100 participants is a very very veeeery long shot. Freerolls posted in here don't even get that many players recently. So it's hard to get that for a buyin tournament.

I will let everyone know tomorrow when the event is posted. I will say that it's not a poker site hosting the event. 100 is gonna be tough but it can be done, it's essentially a freeroll.

Too bad there is only one game and not a full tournament, but i like the dynamic, the fact that we only have to place a $10 bet to join is nice because if it wins we can join to the free roll while we already make profit, and if the bet loses we can see it as a $10 buy-in for a $2k free roll.

Exactly the perfect way to look at it. You could be in for free or at worst you spend $10. This is the pre game to a series, they just want to gauge interest from the community. Decent turnout turns into a series, so we need to see as many members as possible to join.
