hi guys can i buy some DOT at Cryptopia and hold there?

Hi arch365,

You can, yes. But any exchange is an attractive target and has greater security concerns.

To be safest, it is best to hold your investment yourself and under security you can define.

This is not said to discredit Cryptopia any. Better safe than sorry. Wink

Link to the Windows Wallet does not work Sad

hello, is it true that $dot is switching to PoS? I don't mine everything but would like to earn from staking if its true.

How does staking work, do the new coins come automatic?

let this good coin be traded at Bittrex or Poloniex, they are both good exchanges which the traded volumes are good and sustainable.
a good coin must be at the good exchanges.

Poloniex won't accept this as it has no innovation. Bittrex might accept if it would have acctive community and development. Sadly DOT doesn't have any of those. Moving to waves token isn't really an active development.

Hi AU_AG, it does seems the OP is misleading with an invalid link...

Quote from: OP
...
DOWNLOADS

Windows
https://mega.co.nz/#!AwI0GKRQ!4aPsgXYghIURyDOjtyI8o43XuuwFXgPWr3IGWs5LCOk

...

Which results with, "The file you are trying to download is no longer available."    Undecided

I did find this: https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Forum/Thread/290 that has a working link. (https://mega.nz/#!NgYgkLJR!Ig36rSUPoFQMKbToKRf8HwZLS_79_KN9S-Mv1u1rtaY)

Hope that helps!

You can add to an existing conf, if you have one already. If you do not have one yet, make a new dotcoin.conf (with notepad or any text editor) within C:\Users\<YOUR WIN USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Dotcoin\

dotcoin is going to a waves token.   If you have all your dot on cryptopia leave it there until the swap is finished. Then you can put it in a waves wallet i believe.

please dont waste your time building a dotcoin  ie  kimdotcoin wallet unless you need to ship your coins up to cryptopia for the swap.

Guys Dotcoin is a coin owned by Cryptopia and is used to list new coins on the exchange, its a great coin to swing trade, just buy low and sell high might take 1 month to catch a good wave but still.
Lets not forget Dotcoin was 50 Satoshis not too long ago and reached nearly 500 so thats a x10.

I would not say Dotcoin is a good investment since its not a technology more like money solely used by Cryptopia and their customers (coin devs).

Is the mining now over? If not, can somebody please remind me when it was supposed to end? Thanks a lot.

This is what they said initially after the dot 51% attack

Source: https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/news

Cutoff Block: 1,200,000
Total DOT at block 1,200,000: 522,500,000 DOT
New DOT Asset Total: 522,500,000 DOT

The current block height is given here
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/dot/

However, their Waves forked  (check same source) early this week because of some confusion in updating the node. There seems to be a pending decision on whether to support waves and waves assets on their exchange. This also affects the DotCoin.

From, what I understand they were planning to move DOTCOIN to a Waves asset and the cutoff block for doing so was 1,200,000 blocks at 522,500,000 DOT. The waves client has an option to generate these waves assets as re-issueable. That means they could generate more DOT coins later if they want to if they enabled re-issue (at token creation). Its upto the coin owners to decide whether their coins are-reissueable or not when they first create their waves asset.

Maybe attack was another exchange
