Ever had the urge of just trying to get a win for your ego?

I had a topic like Do you have a team or player on which you keep losing bets no matter what? and I obviously stated in it as an example the race track at Lingfield  My money pit I should know better not to touch again!

Now that most tracks in UK are frozen and Lingfield is on poly it's one of the few that run, so, out of boredom I played, they had 5 clear favorites under 1/1, one was 1/6, you can guess what happened, all 6 bets on favorites lost, all 4 bets on placing from the 3rd horse lost, 4 EW lost, I won't even say tricast cause, well, D'oh!!!

So here I am, bored to death and I'm looking at the next Chelmsford City race and I feel that I should both stay out of this for the day and also just place a damn bet to win at least once so, my question for the other bettors, what do you do in such a scenario
- go out and just accept that you failed miserably at an event you know you're really bad at
- try to get at least a bet right to have at least one win for your ego
- or even one step higher, try to recoup the bets (no way I'm doing that)

Same here, boredom is a devil. Sometimes, gambling becomes the outlet. Alone, I'm often able to resist, but I know all it takes to shatter my defenses is a little nudge from a friend and gambling starts. Money is lost. There'll be a little regret in the end. The consolation is that you enjoyed it.

So, I guess it isn't really bad to give in to the urge when boredom strikes for as long as betting is done moderately. No need to chase a win let alone recoup your losses.

I don’t want to sound as if I’m advising someone to chase after their losses because that’s what this option looks like - but if I was ever in your shoes this is what I would have done. I would have reduced my bet and go for the one I know or believe are the most likely to give me a win and this time I won’t make multiple bets but just one because sometimes losing multiple bets might give you that feeling that you’re starting to lose your touch so I’d just make one bet and make sure I win so as to satisfy my “ego” and also to remind myself that no one is perfect when it comes to gambling.

An ego stroke for gambling just seems like desperation to me but in the end the desperation to win is not such a bad thing. You want to win so bad that you risk it all! Sometimes we have to risk a lot but never risk it all! If bets have ever taught me anything always save some of your money for "the road" save a little bit to get you through at least another bet or string of bets!

I've tried letting my ego do its thing, man was it bad. Idk if it was just really an unlucky day or something but chasing that win I wanted pretty much went the same as if I've tried to recoup my bets in terms of results lol. After that I rarely let it get to me and in cases that it does, I usually limit it. Maybe after 2,3 losses of letting it go its way I just accept that I'm fucked for the day and just go out and touch some grass instead (or the next day, if not possible for the current day).

Funny because I do the same thing when I bet on New Yankee at MLB. They keep losing whenever I bet on them as favorite while winning when I don’t place bet with them. This shit hole keeps haunting me over the years that makes me stop for real after 2 consecutive years of same experience.

I myself think that those who gamble with their ego or follow their ego are a group of people who gamble with the aim of not having fun but with other reasons, perhaps to seek profit or want to recover previous losses, because when we say ego, this leads to the negative side where something that is done based on ego will usually end badly.

But the right thing is that we must have a fairly correct goal when we are going to gamble, for example by always being able to limit ourselves so as not to be excessive, there are quite a lot of cases that occur and I think it cannot be eliminated just like that.

I experienced this kind of troubling situation before and end up to almost massive loss. I always want closure when I’m gambling so it’s either I hit my target profit or reach my stop loss threshold on my bankroll.

The problem is my game gets stuck on a win-lose loop that makes me unable to move forward or quit the game. In the end, I just decided to walk away after setting a fixed number of bets which I should quit no matter what is the result.

Luckily I escaped on this death loop considering that I’m wagering huge amount that time.

There are indeed days or moments on which at the time that you do gamble then you do have that series of loses on which no matter what you do or how well you do make out some analysis into your bets or just simply sticking with the favorite but turned out to be a losing bet then that will really that snap out our patience on which this is something that very normal when it comes into this matter. We do know that there are situations or conditions on which we do able to experience this one and its true that it comes into that time that you will be trying out to chase up that single win after a series of loses and thats why you do really end up on having that more even loses. This is why it is really just that too risky when you dont have that kind of good self control because at the time or moment that you will be having such reactions then you are really that bound to incur even more loses and we do know that regret is always at the end. You will definitely be having those regrets and eventually learn with those mistakes. Good for you if you do able to realize up things accordingly but there were people who are really becoming impulsive and becomes naive into their decisions and thats why they do really end up on having some problems financially. I have experienced all three of these many times...too many times.

The first scenario is certainly the wisest move, it's smart to take a break and cool your head. It saves us from making a wrong decision and losing money.

The second scenario is a double-edged sword. I have tried many times to "come back" with a last bet, and sometimes that works, but many more times I just lose that bet as well.

The third scenario is already a tilt, the moment when we are in fire. And I have found myself there perhaps too many times. As in the second scenario, it's a double-edged sword, but this time the risk is greater, the sword is bigger, and if things go the wrong way (and chances for exactly that to happen are pretty high) the damage will be greater.

So if you can take a break and chill...a new day will come and new betting opportunities will emerge.
