Your Take on Billionaires Promising to Give Away Their Wealth?

I recently came across the news that Bill Gates plans to give away his entire fortune through his charity foundation over the next 20 years. It got me thinking, why would someone spend the majority of their life accumulating wealth only to give it all away in the end? I'm curious, do they truly give it all away, or is there something more going on behind the scenes?

Maybe he has realised that it's the number of lives you have touched and impacted that's more important than having those billions of dollars held up in an account of which you ain't going to be needing such money for the rest of your life. The Man is 69 years old and in the next 20 years he's going to be 89. What will an 89 years old Man be doing with all the billions he has accumulated and the ones he will still accumulate till then. So if he say he's going to give them all out to charity I don't have any doubts, he's definitely going to do that. I don't see any point doubting him. If he wasn't going to do it, he wouldn't have said that publicly.

Well, it's his choice but no one is stupid enough to give out all their assets, no matter how sugarcoated they try to make it sound it still doesn't mean that he's going to give away all his wealth... everyone knows the importance of having money...any amount of money he's planning to give out of it is something that he can replace easily...a billionaire would always want to have more money but not outsidern side

You don't understand, it's like in his will as his dieing wish that all his estates be given away and his final words is what his lawyer is going to make sure he accomplish. This isn't going to be the first time that rich people deny their children their wealth and they all have their reasons. They're not doing it to get any acknowledgement from the public but doing it to teach their children to make their own money. Wealthy people have disown their own children to remove them from their inheritance. It's their money hence anything that anybody does with the money that they have made is their own concern and not mine hence I don't care whatever the rich do with their money. What I'm concerned about is my own money, how to make more and protect it.

I think he's trying to drop a blueprint of his legacy even after his demise and again giving out all of his fortune it's quite something huge and giving out all of his fortune to his Charity organisation other than his legitimate offsprings isn't that something one will reason deep that there's something behind it, but that notwithstanding it's a good choice at least he's trying to give back to the society.

Bill Gate plans to give way his fortune is a good gesture, he want the society to always remember him in the future after he has passed away. There are many individuals in the societies that that are given back to the society, it is way to appreciate them, having benefited from the society in one way or another, and had a great coexistence. If he eventually give back to the society, it is worth commendable and will be remembered by many generations to come.

People do it even if it might surprise you. They distribute their wealth at old age rather than keep it for their family and future generations. So his philanthropic act is not a publicity stunt or something of that sort. He's giving back to the society and he'll derive so much joy and fulfillment doing it. More so, he's very rich to the extent that even if he donates 95% of his wealth to charity, he and his family can live off the remaining 5% very comfortably.
