You have a point here ops and you nailed it with the statement that, many good topics get neglected because others feels creating their own topics will give them more visibility to gain the attention of others, it used to feel that way for every newbies, but as time goes on, you start to understand that merits Comes from your constructive perspective shared around the forum and in various discussions and boards.

Bit also we need to encourage new topics most especially cryptocurrency related topics, at least their keep the localboard and the general Forum alive and with full vibes and ideas, so both are good it all depends on how it being done by us

I have always maintained my stance, and the members continue to prove me right that the quality of this board has decreased drastically since the beginning of the year.  It's unfortunate because sometimes I spend more than 45 minutes scrolling through the board and end up meriting nothing.

I've pushed myself to make sense of some of the topics I merited, such as this one, but in reality they're rubbish.

What I understand is that everybody gives their different opinions about a certain topic regardless of whether what they're saying looks similar but in a different perspective for instance an OP creates a topic saying Obi is a boy, someone can reply the OP saying Obi is not just a boy but a male child, another person can say, Obi has a penis so he's a male child, and another person can argue, asking others how sure are they that the name Obi should be for only male children.

 They're all saying similar things but in different ways so I don't see that as rubbish, moreover everyone is trying their best in whatever way they can to make this board grow and I don't agree and believe that their are lots of post that shouldn't be merited, maybe you should also check the other sub boards and see post that were moved over their that deserves to be merited.

This is actually what has been happening in our local board, and members don't feel so. If you can analyse the merits that were earned on this local board by members, you will find out that most merits earned are on topics members of this local board created rather than engaging in a topic created by another member. You won't blame members who are eager to start a topic, because they also want to earn merit from merit sources since there is a big chance of earning merit in this local board if you start a topic.

If you see any topic that has less engagement or members of this local board don't engage in the topic, just know that they don't have anything to contribute to the topic or the topic is an existing topic that has been discussed before.

Wetin you talk na true but wetin you go know be say we get a lot of newbies for the local board wey be say dem never develop that confidence to dey go make posts for general discussion board so dem find the local board more friendly and accommodating so na here their interest day and we also want dem to grow because all of us once started as a newbie even though it wasn't easy for us den. I get wetin you dey talk for this your observation na something wey me I noticed too... The new ones wey come need their thread to boom small at least make e show say somebody open thread and make e show say this particular person wey open the thread follow for this LB, but one thing is for sure, is like our LB get two branches, the head and the tail and for the head if them open thread na only the ones wey feel like dia own too good especially the higher ranked ones nai go make the thread get plenty engagement as you call am but if na the tail wey open thread engagement no go reach any where. Oga Brain, I get where you dey drive at but march brake, about some people wey dey post to complete weekly quota, e dey happen but e no good. No forget say some people stop to post here becos that thing wey been dey give them joy to post here no dey again. No lie oh, if you see where honey dey rush from shey you go continue to go their to fetch from (this question na for you alone)? You don actually point out the main thing wey dey cause some low quality post for our Naija board and even in the forum as a whole, some people just dey in a haste to complete there task so as to get paid without even checking if the post or reply they are creating is quality enough. The truth is that one can not make quality post all the time but at least the volume or number of quality ones should be more than the ones that are not quality. Sometimes we see post that are quality to be merited but we skip, waiting for our merit source to come and merit that particular post which is not suppose to be so, I think our merit source can not be able to see all the post  in a given time so whenever we Merit quality post we are actually helping our merit source and helping the board grow as well.

Engagement go depend on how the topic take, some topic wey you they see for here, na topic wey another person don post before. And forum members no go like talk the same for different topic, na why sometimes you go see say some topics no they get that kind engagement wey you they talk. And some newbies too they no they calm down create topic, I no notice say some times person go write post, next thing you go see say they don move am go off topic na why some people they look for thread wey discussion don go far to reply.

I agree we should not only wait for only Merit sources give Merits if we see any post that is worth giving merit we should endeavor to give as it will help in making sure that our local board members become more active because with what is on ground now only Merit sources are giving merits which which not a good thing because there are actually a lot good and quality posts that are not merited


So I am of the opinion that we all should take responsibility of making sure that our local board is more active by taking delebrat efforts by giving Merit to deserving posts because only one merit source will not be enough

Me, I believe say the merit sources them, get their own criteria wey dem they take use to merit a post whether na new topic or ongoing conversations. E nor matter. And also, you fit create as much topics you like as long as say, you nor dey duplicate topics wey don already dey here and also as long as say the e get quality.

On these part that you have mentioned base on one merit source by only Igebotz in these great local board have also came to mind too, i know Igebotz is really trying his possible best to see that every members on these local board always given the answers were is necessary when needs arisess in any given thread, which is not that very easy on him and some of them that have been so supportive from the beginning of these local board with Igebotz is also trying their best, all will need to be patient and put our hands together build our local board because a tree can never make a forest.

I also noticed that, but sometimes the reason why most people don't like engaging themselves in most threads is because there are some topics that has already been discussed here maybe knowing or unknowingly most people will still end up repeating that same topic take for instance you came across such topic when it was first created, and when is been repeated for the second time are you going to repeat that same comment you made in the first topic? Sometimes you May have other things to say, but that doesn't make any sense to me because we most not be treating one particular topic all the time, we also need to touch other branches so as to enable us build enough knowledge about crypto investment rather than treating similar topics all the time.

Na good observation you drop so but I think engagement on a topic largely depends on the number of users who are interested in it. Even if a topic is interesting, individuals won't engage it if it falls outside their specific interests. People's interests varies so it's natural for engagement to be selective.

Just as Chalse-Tim mentioned na local board be this so engagement no go be like main board own unless when maybe the discussion long and people keep quoting and replying one another.
