You don't have to be sorry mate, it's your opinion and everyone is giving their opinion concerning what they think about the subject matter so there's no big deal whether your opinion goes against what others think but left for me I won't agree to gambling being generally linked to something spiritual like some people in my society thinks, I'm not one of those that would be misled by superstitious beliefs and instead of leading someone to the church or any spiritual home to tackle the situation I'll rather advise an addicted gambler to seek medical solutions to get better not pray cause it's more relating to a mental issue than something spiritual.

I feel like a priest, preacher, rabbi, or clergy man would only make the problem worse and make the gambler feel more ashamed then anything. Most likely going to push someone further into depression and contemplating suicide.

Gambling is seen everywhere these days. TV ads, browsing the website, streaming sites, newspapers, billboards, etc. It's hard to escape the temptation. Maybe more people should be entering the Mental health field as there might be a shortage of therapists.

Religion is a very subjective topic as no one can say there's an absolute truth that you can follow. Anyone can follow their own beliefs but he can't dictate it to others to follow as well. So we are free to choose what we want to believe, but we can't push this to others. After all, these beliefs are just created by humans. And so we can't say that the belief of someone is the truth for all.

Some people just need to wake up. I mean, they need to understand the fact that when you get addicted to gambling, it has nothing to do with spirituality but can be traced back down to the personality of that gambler. They were the ones who lost control, which led to getting addicted, and they should be treated by those who specialise in mental health. If there is anything that should be linked to gambling addiction, it should be drugs, as recent research shows that there are drugs that could affect someone and also increase someone's urge to gamble.

Well, people will make a connection to something even if there's no connection at all. They want to blame it to something. Hence, they want to find some links. Anyway, it is how they think that will affect such decision. Be logical with your approach and you may have better outcome with your decisions. For me, if there's no logic behind it, then don't do it.

Here everything is very personal. Sometimes priests can be very good psychologists, as they can still explain to a person his wrong and unrighteous path. Everything depends on the strength of a person's faith, how much he can hear his spiritual father, and how far his gambling addiction has gone. Addiction is not spiritual and I strongly agree with that. There is no metaphysical Force that is in support or against gambling not to talk of even gambling addiction. As gamblers, we can play a very small role in helping the next gambler to not become addicted. This is a common practice in the rural areas, people who are suffering from different types of depression are mistaken for spiritual problems and spiritualists, traditional healers and some religious leaders are capitalizing on these ignorance to scam people. Most religions are against gambling in any form, so there's no point even going to your "religious leader" for any advice as they'll just say stop it. Frankly religion is rubbish in this scenario because they simply don't tolerate how people actually live and exist. Anyone who does gamble when they are meant to adhere to religion is instantly a hypocrite, which puts them in an even darker place and might make it harder to extract themselves from the problem because they cannot talk about it openly with the people closest around them. Repressing problems will make even greater mental health issues. There's little point even mentioning religion on this part of the forum, because it is automatically at odds with gambling.

The post is not directed to religion and spirituality is not always about religion . There are some part of the world in which people think that an individual can be manipulated spiritually to do certain things that will destroy him and things like alcohol, gambling, stealing and the likes are usually those characters easily chosen. I don't believe this but that does not mean people do not believe them. There could still be some very old and traditional societies that goes to the church or any spiritual leader for healing. And maybe some of those who might thought that someone being addicted to gambling might be spiritual. I mean they could believed that the devil is controlling the person itself, that's why he turns into something like that.

On the other hand, modern societies turns into medical help and not on tradition. So we can't really help it out and we can't just say to those old and traditional societies that the only solution for this problem is to go to psychologist or a person of medicine and professionals to help this kind of people.

My eyes have seen enough, the so called men of God trying to cast out the gambling demon like they called it, and I'm like is this even a thing? Because I don't believe that gambling has anything to do with demon or a curse, but anyways, we are in a world of make believe especially in the religion side of thing.

The Bible was against gambling because it helps the evil spirits around to get the best of you, gambling normally mess with your head, makes you lose your cool and probably lose your path, this is one reason why gambling is bad for some set of people.

Evil strives better where people easily lose their minds, alcohol, drugs, and gambling are dangerous in different ways but that doesn't mean that all addicted gamblers are possessed. The truth is that spirituality is a very difficult thing to explain and can only be understood by those who have faith in it. Not only with gambling but also with many serious, incurable diseases...even modern medicine is powerless, but sometimes spirituality inexplicably heals them.

People who are addicted and face stress in their minds because of excessive pressure caused by gambling need something that can calm their minds first. I do not blame families who bring their members who are addicted to gambling or other addictions to religious leaders. What is done is only to calm the addict's mind first, in various religions have an approach for people to get peace of mind. I don't really know why people are thinking that addiction is spiritual issues where they wouldn't want to go to a rehabilitation centre to get their insanity restored.
