Except for a fool, there is no chance of anyone falling for such a scam. Someone who only knows Bitcoin and what Bitcoin is, may not be affected by such a scam. Because it is common knowledge that there is no such scheme in the world where you double your money in a very short time. Even I would call it a very low-quality scam and the person who is running this scam is also a fool who has no knowledge about crypto or Bitcoin.

We may not need much knowledge to identify a scam. Just be careful of temptations and ignore the easy way to get rich. Because there is no way to get rich in the world without hard work. The amount of hard work you put in, the same amount of results you will get.
There are people who are still falling for these kinds of trick by scammers this is still a sign that there is still a lot to do when it comes to sharing knowledge because there are people who are into Bitcoin but has not really grabbed what it is in details and so when they see things like this they fall victims to it due to the fact that the lack proper orientation concerning it just sharing information about Bitcoin around those around you that are into crypto will go a long way in making sure that someone doesn't fall into this type of trap

Yes, there are still many people out there in Nigeria, who are falling for this kind of trap by scammers, not only in Nigeria but everywhere around the world. Although most people are aware of this kind of tricks, but they can’t be able to know which is the true or false. The ability to detect and know when something is fishy is what will save people from this kind of scamming if not most people will still fall for this tricks. You know they keep coming with different tricks and formats just to captivate your attention, mostly to the old ones who doesn’t have any idea about bitcoin, but they’ve heard of bitcoin and if they get to meet this scammers who tells them that they can make them get rich through bitcoin, they will mostly fall for it. So for me it’s just all about knowledge, once you have a knowledge about bitcoin I don’t think anyone can sweet talk you into scamming you in it.

Our solution
I will like to engage us in two exercises on this thread:
1. Share your personal experiences around a similar incident or case of crypto doubling scam you encountered
2. Once you see any advert of a crypto related scams like this, take a screenshot of it and drop it here for our more experienced members here to kind of debate or authenticate, before we end up falling for it.

At times we Nigerians once something haven't happened to someone you are very close to or you personally you wouldn't believe that all these internet sit or some unnecessarily links are scam, I once had an experienced since for so long, when I was asked by a stronger to invest into one platform, which the scammer provided me will some link, I went ahead to register through the links he sent and after seeing some datas attached with thier percentages, I was very eager to invest and have my capital back within 2 to 3 weeks, although I was scared but it was the profits being attached made me to invest 200k and be earning 17k everyday, which I calculated to make profits and have my capital back, surprisely within 3 days these people went with all my money and I couldn't be able to longin into my account anymore.Since then in my life, I don't give a smaller trust to something I know or don't have any ideas about.

Lesson learnt, we need to be very careful of any unnecessary messages from a stranger or links you don't have ideas about. Ever since I joined this forum, I have never been scammed on crypto-related issues.

Op, thanks for bringing this up. The experienced members here in this forum have taught me a lot about scammers. Well, as the Op said, in case you see any scammer, any links or some unnecessary photos of proof by a scammer just to scam you, please do well and drop in here for clarification and authentication by the experienced members here.

I like your parting words when you adviced about being careful of being tempted of making quick money and always trying to look for an easy way to get rich quicly. It seriously doesn't pay at the end of it.and when it backfires , it's even more troubling. What gets people easily swayed and gullible most of the occasios is greed, once you give room for greed to become a part of your lifestyle, it will do more serious harm to you than good. Greedy people are the most unwise people ever because even when you think you are wise, it will be beclouded by the greed in it. May the innocence and demeanour in us not be overpowered by greed.

Knowledge is power, strength and quality life. When there's an absence of knowledge in the life of a human being, their life is already endangered being it economically, financially or healthwise. Knowledge have saved many people from high-end risks which could have brought about an end to their life-long investments or lifetime health challenge, but because of knowledge, those mistakes were spot on and corrected without any problems. We should take it as a task and duty to always educate our selves and people around us at any given opportunity so we all can live an enjoyable life out of cheat and regrets. The more you understand something, the more you see the risks or even underrate or feel so hurt sbout anyone who falls victim. What you might have deemed simple to avoid, someone else where do not have the thinking faculty to think through it and avoid it.

The truth is some newbies don't want to follow the right way, they think there is a short cut that can lead them into owning 1BTC.  So going with this mindset would make people especially newbies to continue making this same mistake, but the moment they realized that there is no short cut to success  that's the moment they will stop falling for this cheap scamming method.

And one thing that is affecting most of our newbies is that we don't care to learn we just feel that we can do it by ourselves without the help of those who are already Old in the system, though sometimes is good to be self educated but not in this particular aspect. So as a newbie in this space you really need to be guided so as to avoid making unnecessary mistake.

You've probably come across this kind of message "Send us your BTC and we'll double it" trick either on your Facebook, WhatsApp or Telegram. The painful part be say our Nigerian people still they fall for these kind scams every single day. And e dey make we wonder why abi wetin go drive you to go invest or send money inside one audio platform wey go promise to double your money within hours. Reason someone telling you to just send ₦100k worth of BTC and they will turn it to ₦200k for you within few hours or like some will claim they want to bless you.

Their Format
Some even hide under government backed empowerment Promos or programs to make this offer, while others hide under fake celebrity accounts to make it look like giveaway offers and even use words like sow your crypto seed today and reap double under 24 hours, etc. The aim is to prey on your frustration and financial desperation to scam you.

The Red flags
But here are also some red flags you should notice in this kind off message offer:
Make you know say these kind of offers dey always come attached with some urgency such as 'Only 5 slots left, grab now '. Some will even send you fake transaction receipts and fake testimonials from telegram users that never existed to in a sense lure u into believing in their tricks but it's all lies every time.

The real truth
The truth be say, there's no real crypto investment company or a legit trader, protocol or app which will tell you to double your funds magically, none of the real guys or companies can guarantee you that. Once you see person wey dey promise guaranteed instant profits with just a deposit, run away because it's a pure scam alert.

The reason why people still dey fall for these tricks be say plenty of our people have little knowledge on how these crypto works while many of them are in poverty and looking for ways they can escape from poverty.

But if you ask me also, I will tell you the reason why it's lucrative for the perpetrators is because there's no solid regulations around online promotions in Nigeria and because of that many become victims while the perpetrators go unpunished.

But what we can also do is to:
1. Educate ourselves about these scams
2. Do more of digital literacy advocacy online in our local dialects
3. Report scam accounts once you recognize one because we need more voices to protect the powerful reputation behind crypto in our lives.

Yes, of course, to avoid such traps, one must have common sense, if a person has common sense, he will be able to protect himself from such fraud. But I will say that if it were true that your money will be doubled in a short time, then many people would have already become rich, I think this is never possible. If they send such messages that we will double your money within a few hours, you give us some BTC, then you should definitely be careful when reading such messages. I think that a person will not waste time on you without his profit. Because sometimes it is seen that there are many people who send such messages to Nigerians like us, they think that Nigerians do not know much about it, but many Nigerians have become cautious. I do not understand why a person would benefit me without his profit, otherwise why would he waste so much time on me. If this were the case, maybe we would not be poor, we could have doubled our money within a few hours by following some tips.  I never consider such messages to be credible because I know that there is no such institution that will double my money and return it later, so I would say that all of us who are here will refrain from it and keep everyone aware of this issue.
