It's pretty ridiculous when you say it's a mistake to delete an important file that contains your private key wallet.
It should be prevented if you have a backup of private keys stored offline to solve this kind of problem.

However, Online files can be easily lost, damaged or spied on by others.
I myself still keep private keys offline to deal with these kinds of things, so I still have full access to a wallet that has a lot of assets.

About some of the fatal mistakes in crypto is buying memecoins or NFTs that will just go to waste,
$5000 just disappears and is worthless at all when buying NFTs during the hype a few years ago.

I don't have the same mistake as you but maybe, selling bitcoin at a point that I don't want to but I have to. It could be a mistake but it's also a situation that many might have come through. We did this kind of mistake that we're regretting now but we can't help when we're into those situations that we have to sacrifice. But it isn't too late to accumulate and get back on our feet and start to recover those sold Bitcoins through DCA.

I'm not Not sure what's the worst mistake I've done with cryptocurrencies, but I have similar stories to yours. I discovered cryptocurrencies when I was a dumb teenager, somewhere between 15 and 16 year old. I created several wallets, from Bitcoin, Litecoin and even Dogecoin, all online and (platforms such as blockchain or Dogechain) and stored the seed phrases in text documents.

As you can easily guess, these text documents were deleted or lost, losing an undefined amount in cryptocurrency. One thing is certain, I lost approximately 400 to 500 Dogecoin and about 0.005 BTC on Xapo online wallet.

Mine was in trading, as a newbie in the cryptospace, I thought that trading was easy and I didn't bother to learn deep. I started trading and got lucky in my first two positions that I opened and made little profits of $15 and $20 consecutively. I started feeling like a pro and got greedy the next day.

I opened a position and I have already made $20 profits but I became greedy and wanted a bigger profits which made me not stop the trade and take profits, Few minutes later, I dosed off. I woke up one hour after and saw that my account has been liquidated. I lost big, and avoided trading for a long period of time.

Yes, I also traded like you but I lost a lot here. When I first started trading, I just did it on assumptions without understanding which resulted in a lot of losses. I thought that it doesn't require much skill to do it, it's an easy thing, this thought helped me lose money completely. I was involved in different groups and hearing their success stories got my interest, after I started trading but since I didn't have that much knowledge about it, I always lost.

There are too many threads here that also discusses the msitakes of others in relation of trading. But that will consume you time, so while waiting for the others to move onto this topic. You can take your time reading all of those threads about the trading mistakes that they did in the past. But I'll give you a hint because most of them are just the same and so, that's the hint already. It's not a collective group effort but the majority creates almost the same mistakes over and over again.

Sorry for what happened but I haven’t heard any similar issue like this in the past before and have been very careful with relevant informations that needs to be kept secretly and in safe places since I learned about crypto. Some people do not make such mistakes but still they loss their assets in the hands of fraudsters that get access to their portfolios most especially through keyboard malware’s. So keeping your seed phrase out of the reach of scammers is very important and also not saving them in your PC will never have them get access to it no matter how they try. Your seedphrase should be far from anything internet to avoid compromising.

This has been posted on the "Trading Discussion" so I assumed that this is related to trading, but it isn't. Maybe this can be moved to either "Bitcoin Discussion" board or even the "Beginners and Help" because it can help newbies as well.

I can't share any experience for myself when it comes to a total loss of my crypto assets because I have never experienced that in my whole crypto journey. I got scammed by a small amount when I invested on a new project, and that project ended up as a rug pull, but got hacked? Nope. Formatted my hard drive that has my private keys in it? Nope as well. Phishing links? Also no, but almost.

Despite of me not experiencing it, I can still give some tips like always, always double or triple back up your secret key or private keys or seed phrase. Also, when it comes to any crypto related things, it's always better to think twice or thrice whenever you're doing something like transferring funds, or duplicating your keys, or anything related.

My experience is related to airdrops; I participated in some airdrops and get rewarded; instead of me to sell off my coins, I hold them and they mostly dumped completely; I had this terrible experience in three several projects which I end up regretting.
I am always careful when making crypto transactions to avoid sending to a strange wallet different from the wallet address you are supposed to send.

I never make mistakes, because since I first started learning about crypto, I have always been careful to avoid them.

That's a mistake many people make... storing their private seed phrase on a PC, which is then accidentally deleted... or if the PC is infected with malware, you could lose all your assets.

The mistake of buying shitcoins and hoping for a 10x return, only to end up with $0 due to FOMO—this used to cost me over $500, if I recall correctly.

My journey in crypto currency is not long, in this short journey, I have not lost any of my crypto assets and have not even lost any part. Here I have heard many stories of losses from many people and have gained a lot of experience by listening to some stories. However, if any incident ever happens in my life, maybe that day I will share my experience and tell everyone.

Also, I'm not making the same mistake as the OP because I save any data in my notebook. For example, I write down my wallet seed phrase in a notebook and I save everything else that is necessary separately so that if my device gets damaged, I can easily recover it.

Yes, I read and followed crypto channels. I lost a lot of time and consequently money sure I also made some but break even becomes a fatal loss when you lost years of your time and became stressed, became fatter, became lazier to learn anything else.

I think social media in general is a slow fatal mistake. You lose hours and hours without gaining anything that enriches your life.

When it comes into those regrets from airdrops then i have that nightmare on which i havent been able to secure profits on the time i do make $70k at least and waited up for me to cash out when its already $1k.  

Even up to now I do still that being haunted with this kind of mistake on which I've been always thinking that if I was able to make out some secure profits on that time, then I might be able to have bought something or I do have already some good amount of capital for adding up into my trade or simply buying up that Bitcoin on that time. It was particularly into those times where ICO is still that trend or the hype on that time. Its the main trend on that time on which bounty hunting was still that profitable or getting up some huge bucks with less effort.

Speaking about losing up private keys too then I do have those experiences on which i have lost my PK on my ETH wallet when it was still that claimable into those faucets on which
this is one of the most regrettable things in my life.

No, I don't have the same experiences as you. I backed up my recovery key to many so I am not too worry if I lose one. But it will be sad if we forget to back up the key because we can not access the wallet and lose it forever.

I learned from my friend's story who lost his key because forgot to back up the key. I don't want to have the same thing as him. So I keep my key carefully and don't tell other people unless I trust the person.

We all make mistakes honestly and I would say I was victim of fatal crypto mistakes and to be frank I lost all my little crypto assets that time cause I was still naive and not so careful about protecting my keys and all of my funds where gone. That taught me a hard lesson and I never which for anyone to fall into that category.

Such mistakes have always been with us, at some point we have to go along wirh the acceptance of the fact that there can never be success without mistakes although my own cryptocurrency mistakes i havent recover from it though but for sure we can be aiming at better future when we already have that experience in place.

I made my own mistake withba memecoin that i could have made close to $100k but solde it too soon for a leas price not wven $500 but below and within two months the coin value increased so much that i regretted taking profits too soon evwn thoughbthe coin shown alot of potentials at that time.

Yes of course, I've experienced the same thing when I stored my seed phrase in my phone notebook, I encountered a sudden slow response in my device which request me to clear some space off my phone, I immediately clear cache from my notebook while forgetting that my seed phrase was saved there. About $50 worth assets gone, as of today's price.

Another incidence that happened to me was a transfer of token to the wrong address, it was an eth based token sent to another coin same on eth, transfer was done from dex wallet and so I lose $5 worth of token as of then.

Such experience is miserable that's why it pretty much perfect to always cross check addresses before sending, it's vital

My experiences are numerous. I don't even want to talk about all the scam projects I invested in. I see those as noob mistakes. Should I talk about watching tokens I bought go into profit but I didn't take profit until the whole thing crashed? Should I talk about how I mistakenly transferred token to a BSC contract address and kissed it all goodbye? Should I talk about how I sold off my good 270 BNB tokens in 2017? Is it my Doges, Switch that later became ESH? Hmm! So numerous to mention. That's the price we paid for experience.

I lived like some millionaire for 3 months, and spent almost all of it, but I had memories that will last me a life time. However, if I bought at 4k when it dropped, and waited until now, I could have retired now and wouldn't need a dime, so knowing that I could have done that, makes me regret it.

Yeah, that would be the mistake – not buying back during the dip. It's okay to take profit from one's investment and flex it with enjoyment and entertainment, after all that's why we work. However, it's only wise to keep part of the profit for reinvestment before we start spending from it. Make sure to buy back the same quantity but at a lower price. I want to believe those experiencing bull season for the first time now will learn from this mistake.
