if you're buying Bitcoin, only use spare cash you can afford to lose, and research well before jumping in

Yup, like any other high risk investments, it's extremly advisable to invest with money that you can afford to lose. And with literally every investment you put your money into, you ought to do some good research to be well versed with it less you face the risk of losing out on your money cause you failed to realize it was a ponzi scheme and not a viable investment opportunity.
Some newbies to bitcoin could hurriedly invest with a good chunk of money and then, get jumpy due to its volatility further down the line and would then sell off his coins, likely at a loss.
To know some of the basic and most mandatory terms that surrounds the use, accumulation and trading of Bitcoin and the Blockchain ecosystem is a good addition to take serious note of when in the shoes of a newbie just joining the Bitcoin bandwagon.

Any newbie to Bitcoin that hurriedly sell off their investment has been a victim of FOMO and while it would help to know the meaning of FOMO, it is good to increase one's vocabulary on the subject matter of Bitcoin and the Blockchain ecosystem.

If you are new in this forum make sure you study the rules carefully, for you to be able to stay long to be impactful with the knowledge of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies which are the major things we are discussing in this large forum, don't forget to visit or locate your local board to catch up on time because some of the local board members know how to use their mother tongue to explain and teach their newbies bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, and where to post with their mother tongue and where not to post with English league, buy in the dip and sell high is a common sense newbies should apply once they achieve the knowledge of bitcoin and have some funds to invest in bitcoin because it will open their eyes to know how to take advantage from bearish season and bullish season.

Very important for a beginner, and another thing a beginner needs to have in mind, is to invest small amounts and not rush in with a huge amount, especially when there is not much understanding of Bitcoin.

Some beginner investors make mistakes by investing too much, and after some time, if the market is not going the way they want, they end up selling their Bitcoin out of panic. Understanding Bitcoin better is very important because it is the understanding one has of Bitcoin that will enable one to stay calm in the market, and this understanding also helps one to make good decisions about one's investment.

I think the information provided by OP is not related to the forum, but rather a preliminary knowledge for beginners regarding crypto.

Use 2 wallets  1 Main for Long term which you only store your Bitcoin as an invesment and dont touch till you are a millionaire
and the 2nd wallet for any payments or thing u need daily
The advice is actually not mandatory, but I have been doing it for quite a while. Separating assets for several wallets is not only aimed at protecting our consistency for investment but also at protecting the assets we have from hacking attempts. When we often engage in online activities with devices that we also use for wallet transactions, there is a risk from scammers. Just avoid activities that frequently connect to the wallet.

A solution for this;

Is to make an email specifically for your crypto needs and different from your personal transactions and compliance related to job/work or any other personal stuff.

And don't be too excited registering on free stuff online that requires your email to do it. They're funneling the emails of those interested people and scrapes the data into one database for their own usage.

That's why even out of nowhere we receive from emails we don't recognize and that's because we've been sold.
Have a separate email for your crypto investment, as well as your personal email. That way, you won’t be putting too much exposure on your crypto email account. The more private and silent it is, the safer your investment is.

And this is what I’ve been telling to everyone, always control your greed especially when it comes to your crypto investment. Your knowledge and good background on your investment will be left useless if you prioritize satisfying your greed on making more easy money.

Yes, it's an easy way to avoid these emails by avoiding them in our own ways. It's helpful and you don't have to worry.

Just don't sign up with that personal email in any website that you're interested in. Because sometimes, we get carried away and forgets the need to do that.

And that's the reason why there will be times that we might forget it. But, do practice it and it's very helpful to keep yourself away from those harms in this space.

I think people who love freebies fall for scam the most. I don't know why I don't like free things and I also do believe that there are no free things in the internet. I have never seen myself trying to claim an airdrop, trying to connect my network to somewhere, trying to earn coin by tapping my screen and lots more.
Even when I receive such offers from legit exchanges, I don't honour them.
It happened to me to the extent that when signing up in casinos, I skip the welcome bonuses. I think this habit of not liking free things have helped me escape some kind of scams

They certainly do and that's why they're quick to sign up those forms using their real email addresses.

I'm also careful about connecting my wallet to websites and if some forms require to do that, it's a sign that they shouldn't proceed with it.

But how naive they are when they use even their main wallet to easily connect to it because they're asked. From the desire to earn and participate from airdrops, they're losing their funds and when asked what happened, they'll deny that they did something.

I don't see the advice that I, and probably the majority, wished someone would have given me early on, better yet with an assurance that it could be one of the best things I can do in a lifetime. And that's to buy as much as I can and hodl it. The rest like avoiding keeping altcoins or investing in NFTs, taking note of the dos and don'ts, learning other technicalities, and others may only come as secondary.

To those who got it and didn't take heed of it, I guess this is easily their topmost regret.

What i get from your advice that is new to me is never to keep altcoins, its very strange to me. The person that introduced me to crypto advised me to buy more promising  altcoins and hodl because bitcoin is very high to buy and i wont make good profit from bitcoin since what i have to invest was not much. I bought some altcoins and during the altcoin bull run i made some cool cash.

I only sold the profit and left my capital, as a write all my capital has gone to zero, i regret keeping my altcoin now, i wish i knew about this long ago. I do not want to sell them, i believe it will rise again then i will sell everything.

if you're buying Bitcoin, only use spare cash you can afford to lose, and research well before jumping in
Very important for a beginner, and another thing a beginner needs to have in mind, is to invest small amounts and not rush in with a huge amount, especially when there is not much understanding of Bitcoin.

Newbies buying Bitcoin with the amount that they can afford to loose is important, they don't have experience yet about how to protect their wallets. If they use significant amount to buy and they don't know how to protect their wallets it can be disasters if they lose their private keys, it is better to start small and start to learn, when they have a better understanding about how Bitcoin works then they can buy in lump sum. But it is better to buy Bitcoin without experience than to buy shitcoins without experience, Bitcoin can dip and recover but shitcoins are scams.

As a beginner,

It’s more important to learn about cryptocurrency security and how to keep your private keys or seed phrases safe as well as making a successful transaction to the right address than having to invest in cryptocurrency.

Yes, investing is important but, of what use would that be to you should you invest only to loose it to scammers or some error transaction. Bitcoin or cryptocurrency security is one of the most important aspects to cryptocurrency since, all you do is digital and most times, you need to have access to a network.

A solution for this;

What's the point of denying when it's their funds they are losing. In this industry, we don't wait to make the whole mistakes ourselves, rather we learn from the mistakes of others.
One thing I know for sure is that the cryptocurrency industry and scam are like 5&6. So, as long as this industry lasts, there must be scam and evolution of it. Anyone who is careless will always fall for even the cheaper scam.
Another thing I think some crypto guys don't have is contentment. Finding unrealistic ways to multiply their money.

~snip~
What i get from your advice that is new to me is never to keep altcoins, its very strange to me. The person that introduced me to crypto advised me to buy more promising  altcoins and hodl because bitcoin is very high to buy and i wont make good profit from bitcoin since what i have to invest was not much. I bought some altcoins and during the altcoin bull run i made some cool cash.

I only sold the profit and left my capital, as a write all my capital has gone to zero, i regret keeping my altcoin now, i wish i knew about this long ago. I do not want to sell them, i believe it will rise again then i will sell everything.

I didn't say never. OP is talking about stuff that a crypto newbie would wish somebody would tell him/her. That's one. Newbies have no business playing with altcoins. It's playing with fire.

I also had altcoins. I made easy money from them. I kept many. Almost all of them eventually died. Even ETH, which is the king of altcoins have yielded negative profit in terms of Bitcoin, which is how I prefer to measure my portfolio.

Most, if not all, newbies when I started in crypto who went deep into altcoin would have been a lot richer had they focused solely on Bitcoin.

not your keys not your coins is absolutely made many people think that if you don't have full control means it isn't your funds even if it's your funds that you have deposited. There is a chance that your funds will be taken like you did not follow their rules or terms and conditions that's why many people prefer using non-custodial wallets where they have full control of their funds.

I think most newbies don’t take the time to understand Bitcoin properly they just jump in because of hype or FOMO and when the price dips they panic & sell then regret later if the price jumps to the right direction. bitcoin is long term thing, not a get rich quick scheme. if you study the basics like volatility, halving, supply cap and also learn terms like FOMO, HODL or even what blockchain actuallymeans, you will have more confidence to hold instead of rushing out at the first red candle you see. education is honestly the best investment before you pump in the actual money.

There is a chance that your funds will be taken like you did not follow their rules or terms and conditions that's why many people prefer using non-custodial wallets where they have full control of their funds.

Some people are good at buying bitcoin consistently but the problem is that they don't know how to protect what they're accumulating, you'll be suprised that many still do save heavily on wallets in exchanges thinking it's safer cause it's safe in the exchanges wallet, some still don't understand what it means by not your keys not your coins and it's good that threads like these are created often to enlighten more people concerning Bitcoin security.
The non-custodial wallet like you've said is by far the safest cause users have full control of their asset without being under the mercies of the owners of an exchange or so, bitcoin has become a very important asset so it's good to secure it properly in a good wallet and not in some exchange.

- Be careful from Drainers
there are website that ask you to connect your wallet to get an Airdrop (free coins of an project) 99% them are scam
once u connect your wallet your Coins will be gone ( even if you have 0$  but you add balance to that wallet after few months they will be gone )
Read more about Drainers here https://usa.kaspersky.com/blog/what-is-a-crypto-wallet-drainer/29713/

Use 2 wallets  1 Main for Long term which you only store your Bitcoin as an invesment and dont touch till you are a millionaire
and the 2nd wallet for any payments or thing u need daily

All the points you mentioned are solid.New users should understand the differences between hot wallets, cold wallets, multisig, and hardware devices. For long-term storage, hard ware storage is essential. And keeping in mind that seed phrase should be written down physically in multiple backup spaces are very important because nowadays many prefer to store these sensitive details digitally with the risk of losing it at any time
