Whether AI will take our jobs or not depends on us. Because if we are skilled then it will never take our jobs. Yes, it is true that it can think on its own but to control that thinking we have to be skilled ourselves. AI has to be managed in such a way that it does not go beyond our control. Thinking new innovations and implementing it is certainly beneficial for mankind but it has to be kept in mind that nothing can be made so self-sufficient that it later becomes a threat to you because since there are good and bad sides to everything, AI is not outside of it. As the OP have said, as long as we are on the right industry, then there is nothing to be afraid of. Also, the lay off made by Amazon is really painful but we need to always realize the philosophy of "adapt or die". Sure AI has improved but it does not mean it will now end the role of most human workers. Stock is gaining but this seems unrelated to jobs and AI anymore.

Lastly, Having a current job makes it hard for us to enhance or learn a new skill because it may be time and effort for upgrading yourself.
