Remove merit system

Let’s go back to 2017.

Also remove flag system. Let theymos hand pick the dt members and any negative trust ratings coming from those members should nuke the account in question.

Democracy is crap.

Bring back theocracy. God theymos and his godhands.

How will this be helpful in regulating spammers from this forum? We will be seeing tons of accounts being opened every day to spam the forum since there is no regulation to kick spammers out or leave them in lower ranks since they interact or create quality content to earn merits.

I don't know how the forum used to operate back in 2017, but I think this merit system, flag, and trust system keeps it running to date. We just need to maybe add some rules to the flag system and maybe regulate the merit system to be able to allow fair merit circulation to the entire community.

Although I have not made any discussion based on what I'm about to suggest because I don't really know if the forum will agree to it.

My unpopular opinion - is that forum users should be able to know if their profile has been viewed. I have checked many anonymous websites and I have created account on them but if my profile have been viewed I will know by the numbers of the viewers not who viewed my profile. If the forum programers have agreed to it, they should do it the way that only the owner of the account will know if his profile views increase. Reason for this suggestion is because people visits different profiles for many reasons, some to check trust and post histories.

Ok, but why do you need to know who took a look at you? Would it make you feel more important if you saw 5 users looked at your profile? What if noone ever took a look, wouldn't that bother you?

Probably better to not know and not let it mess with your forum journey 1 way or the other.

Isn't it clear? Users often get upset when accusations are made against them. They suggest resolving the issue via PM first and only then releasing their story for discussion. Knowing who checks their account and how often allows them to promptly remove any "mistakes" or at least prepare a story about what happened at the time that led to the "mistake."

Incorrect distribution of merits.

Let me explain. Although my opinion is extremely subjective, I sincerely believe that credits are awarded unfairly. That is, posts worthy of credits are ignored, while on the other hand, you can see posts whose content is of dubious "value", but these posts sometimes receive numerous merits.

Everyone's perception of a post's "value" varies, and that's why I voiced my unpopular opinion.

In some cases, the term "post value" simply loses its meaning when it comes to sharing merit in certain local sections. This situation has been discussed many times, but nothing has changed. I think you understand what I mean.

Do you really believe this? Spammers, upon receiving such a tag, will immediately start whining that the admin is against it and that the DT could be fired for such abuse of power. That's why discussions about the value of posts are labeled "strictly personal opinion."

I don't need to know who viewed my profile, what I'm just suggesting is that if someone viewed your profile you should be able to know, this is an anonymous forum and I don't want to know the name of the person that viewed it. By the way it is just a suggestion, this is one of the main reason why I didn't bother to create any thread about it in the first place. You guys are so so ridiculous. Someone can not just say something freely anymore because you yours are part of the DT members in the forum.

Someone changed his password problem, someone change his Gmail problem, even a little mistake another problem. Do you guys think if everyone leave the forum and only the DT members stay it will good for the admin?

Dt was fighting the spam in those years. Read my post one more time. If you read/quote half of it, naturally you’ll miss the full meaning.

Do they do this by handing negative tag to spammers or just a neutral tag.

Nowadays trust ratings are not as powerful as it used to be. Before the merit/flag system, trust ratings was the king.

Theymos made trust ratings weaker on purpose so people won’t get upset by the negative ratings so easily. And flags are mostly about scams.

Could it be that the DT was so powerful then and wanted to turn a strong cult? If users are still complaining about DT now that they are weak, I wonder what happened when they were stronger.

Merits are getting farmed.

Do you mean that the merit system complicated the system?

Just a (unpopular) thought anyway, current system has its advantages too.

Doesn't this defeat the purpose of introducing merits in the first place?

Also, how would this work? According to Merit & new rank requirements, the initial merits that old users received before was based on their ranks.

Trivia:

For current members, your initial merit score is equal to the minimum required to your rank.

New accounts would start as brand new/newbie, so how much airdropped merit will they receive? If we base on the requirements, it would be 0 merits.

In addition to Activity you now need Merit to achieve each rank. The required merit is detailed below:

Brand new: 0
Newbie:   0
Jr Member: 1
Member: 10
Full Member: 100
Sr. Member: 250
Hero Member: 500
Legendary: 1000
