But, I do not get the commands, like for each time I login what I must do, etc. I am a savvy enough digital user for God's sake, but this IRC thang is beatin' me up and makes me feel like a dunce, because I probably AM a dunce. Really frustrating. But I wish there was the an "IRC for Idiots" that even I could understand. It's perplexing why this is so difficult for me. I hope you're all having a good laugh at my expense. What client are you using? Kiwi IRC? You can change your nick with the command: /nick Pelgoran98
To identify your registered nickname you have to type /msg nickserv identify urpassword
You can type this wherever you want, in the channel or on the main page.

basically your nick will be your login id.

to change your nick, type /nick <your nick here>

you will have to register your ID (if you haven't already done so) by typing  /msg nickserv register YOURPASSWORD YOUREMAIL

now they should send you a verification email which you'll have to type in the chat again (they will provide with the command).

once you're done with that, you will have to Log-in to your ID/Nick, to do that you type /msg NickServ IDENTIFY password

remember, your nick will be your login ID and  you can login with the IDENTIFY command. so make sure you change your nick before you login
