Anythings possible but I would expect that from say BFL or BlackArrow before BMT.

To be decided...

PCIe connectors are supposed to be keyed to fit one way...unless, of course, it's forced in.
Well, I could easyly plug them in upside down and burn out S2's stock PSU. It's being repaired now. I never thought that this is possible to do with PCI-E connectors.  Undecided

Pics or it didn't happen.

PCI-e power connectors are keyed so they only fit one way. If it was possible, we'd have read dozens of stories just like this over the past year.

Unless you have gorilla-strength and are able to force square pegs into round holes, then it's impossible.

you could be right.  however an OC'd ant is drawing about 400 watts to have a 500w PSU at 80% of it's limit is no bueno.  by crobar, i meant to push it beyond its limits or to failure.  my 1300 PSU turned out to be faulty (blown cap).  the 600 still works well, just not well with my ant.   that has been my experience...YMMV.

It's not a matter of whether I'm right or wrong.  I was merely stating facts together with sound numbers to back it up.

An 80% load is still acceptable and seems to be the consensus threshold of maximum load especially for a 24/7 operation.  However, I'm curious about how you equated 400WAC draw at the wall to represent an 80% load on a 500WDC PSU with an efficiency of 85%.  Perhaps, you're confusing AC wattage (at the wall) with DC wattage of the PSU and vice versa and not figuring in the efficiency factor on top of that.

Who knows. They are offering cloud mining, however:

Quote
The mining farm is located in Shenyang, China. It's extremely advantageous geographical conditions with about 33000 sq meters. The mining farm has a completely ventilation and fireproofing measures, and provide high speed internet access, so that the miner status can be real-time monitored to ensure the miner stable. There are over 5,000 AntMiner S2 being operated in the mining farm, and the hash rate of 4,000 AntMiner S2 were switched into HASHNEST.

And the fact that they charge 0.94925BTC for an S3 is kind of weird... as if they don't really want to sell their miners...

BMT has just acquired Hashnest today
and maybe we'll see some change price in the few days...
while the higher maintenance fees.. and ghs also pricey

we'll see something in the few days  Grin

LTC is dead not because of mining but because it has a woefully incompetent dev/marketing team and no real use. BTC has a substantial economy behind it (as in "you can buy and sell stuff for BTC"), LTC doesn't. Big farm mining may kill garage mining, but it won't kill BTC.

Exactly. It may kill the hobbyist miner, but in some ways, it actually encourages adoption. The more businesses/corporations that move to BTC, the more usable it is as a currency. Stop complaining that your space heater doesn't give you free money, and go out and use BTC as the currency that it is.

Even if it is a scrypt device, until we have system details and a price point we don't know if it will be a good or bad thing.

To be decided...

The only reason Scrypt took off in the first place is because people with dozens if not hundreds of GPUs wanted to have something to do. There was never any actual chance of it taking off, and being adopted/used. Now, all the scrypt coins are almost insignificant, and all these scrypt asics are pointless, at least IMO.

But that's besides the point. This thread is for S3 units, not L1 or any other speculative discussions.
