I understand how it's calculated for different faucet levels. What I don't understand is in what way my overall rank is calculated so that it is "Specialist" now?

Rank calculations have not yet been altered to reflect the new faucet leveling system.
They will be with the next update to the site and your rank will continue to reflect your highest level.
As long as that has not been done, your current rank might be a mismatch with your faucet levels, if the levels changed due to the altered requirements.
