Fortnightly Update #53

Hello out there my Moin friends. First things first. I missed a couple updates.... No real good reason.  I just was feeling distracted by irl stuff and was a little burnt out from posting updates with very little info. I'm happy to be feeling better and back in the update mood now though.  A little fresh air and good weather can really help a lot.  OK lets do this thang.

Moin Movement Payouts On Schedule

Although I did take a little break from posting these updates the Moin Movement League and the payouts has continued uninterrupted.  I love our group of people who participate on this and am still looking forward to growing the software to be more interesting, entertaining and robust.  It is a really nice little way to get some Moin for simple participation like chatting in our discord or other social media activity.  If you want to check it out go to www.moinmovement.net or hit us up in our chat room for more info.

King Caper Continues His Studying

I was stoked when i logged in today to see that KC had continued posting some questions and updates on his progress on bitcointalk while I was on my little break.  It looks like he is learning about some big topics related to software architecture and is always looking for feedback and direction.  MOIN is still a very open ended project and new ways of thinking or creative solutions to problems is always great.  Like a delicious meal MOIN is best cooked very slowly.

Updated Twitter Price Ticker

I updated the script that produces the price ticker which is tweeted daily by the @moincrypto account.  It had the cryptopia price on it and so I removed that price and replaced it with coinexchange.io .  I think this change will help correctly represent MOIN exchange offerings and alleviate any confusions that could be caused by cryptopia. I noticed a couple other places that this change needs to be reflected as well and will try to get that taken care of this week.

Game Jam?
We have been talking in the chat about trying to put together a game jam with a MOIN prize.  We are just starting to discuss the details of this event so if you have any experience or ideas in the are feel free to drop in and participate.

MOIN is still my favourite staking coin and for a coin that has been online for many years now is doing a great job at holding its price value compared to most other staking coins out there. It shows that the community is staking and holding for the long term which is good to see as now days most people are after quick profits with masternode projects. Keep up the good work team!

Unless I stumble upon some unanticipated consensus voodoo that invalidates/elegantly sidesteps CAP theorem, we'll probably just fork EOS or whatever's sexiest at the time.  

Just kidding. I have a general idea, but I don't want us to be stuck with poorly made design choices later on, so I'm taking a bit of time to learn about best practices. I'll be looking to make it as efficient and extensible of a beast as possible. Will keep you all up to speed with my progress.

Well MOIN has stood the test of time which can't be said for many other coins that have died in the past year. MOIN has a strong community backing even though it doesn't look like it on here but we can see this in the price as it has held up for a very long time now. I always said that MOIN was and continues to be a good long term hold, also it stakes well too.

I really should participate in the Moin Movement campaigns as I do make tweets about MOIN every now and then as a lot of my followers have been following me for years now and they know how much I really like this project. The price continues to remain stable which is great compared to a lot of Masternode projects, I'm now glad that MOIN didn't go down that path last year and even though I suggested I think it would of been a bad move as most MN projects are slowly dying.

I'm great mate, I hope that the studying is coming along well and that in the near future we see what you have planned for MOIN. A lot of Alts have taken a hit recently and MOIN also which was a surprise to me as it has always been holding up well, its still a stable coin in my opinion and that is why I continue to hold and stake MOIN.

Its been a while since the last update, I know that there isn't much to maybe post an update about but I enjoyed seeing these updates and it also helps keep the MOIN thread alive while the dev work on the project.

A lot of Altcoins have lost a lot of value in the past 9 months and it looked as though MOIN would remain stable like it has always been able to do but it to has lost value but I will continue to hold as I believe in the team and the MOIN project.

Yes it is very hard to see MOIN go down from 300 sats to 30-40 sats but like you I continue to hold strong and continue to keep staking as I do believe in the dev and the community is also great. A lot of Alts are taking a beating right now so its not just MOIN and it always seems to be PoS and masternode coins that get hit hard.

Treefrog brought to my attention that some of the guys on Discord had noticed that discovermoin.com was down and that the bootstrap files weren't available on Github.
Hosting had expired, fixed now. Checked the bootstrap upload script and it seemed to work fine today. Maybe it was an issue with transfer.sh. Will check again in a few days.
For anything critical send me a PM on Riot.

Otherwise still studying. Asymptotic notation and algorithms in general. Juicy stuff.
I know the price is down, but it doesn't mean much when there's no real volume. You could push the price +%1000 with 2 or 3 Bitcoins. The way I see it, the more skills, knowledge and experience the core team acquires, the brighter the future of the project. So in that sense, things are going fine. I'm in this for the long-haul.

Some news: both Coinexchange.io and NovaExchange have announced they're shutting down.

You have up to 1st December to withdraw from Coinexchange, but only up to 28th October until Nova start charging "custody fees" in Bitcoin.

So that leaves us with Livecoin.net while we await that Binance listing.   We should probably try to get MOIN listed on at least one other exchange for the time-being, at least until we emerge from hibernation-mode. What do you guys think?
