Solidity is almost the same as javascript. The difficulty is to understand how ethereum works and how to program as in which language. Solidity wants to be a certain standard for smart contracts

Interesting that they created a custom language for contracts with Solidity. But Solidity will be running on Servers, where as Javascript can run on either servers and/or the client side.
I do wonder if there is a big advantage in Javascript. I mean yeah, there are many coders than can just jump in, but of course a good coder can learn a simple contract language quickly.
That said, I think there are going to be more in the way of app potential, at least early on, with Javascript, as it is nothing new and is a powerful programming language.

I also wonder if having solidity running on the servers might come back and bite Ethereum as they are going to go to a POS system and I wonder if they will lose a bit of hashing power???

i think solidity was a good decission, because so they have also the development of their smart contract language in their own hands. They can perform by that an advantage over their competitors running a standard language. Even now solidity and javascript are making almost the same, in the future they can change that however they want.

Installing Lisk means you need software from at least 5 other companies. Thats not just a security issue. See npm registry backdoors. Ethereums technology is in-house. Therefor you have the value, reflected in the coins growth. Not speaking about Dapps with value of millions and support from tech companies. Eth became a black swan. Lisk seems is a playground for people missed the eth train and hoping now for a miracle. But miracles dont exists. Its like waiting for Litecoin catching up with BTC. Pricedrop from $50 to $1,3. That was a lesson and history repeats. I would not be surpriced Lisk catching up with Crypti market cap. Where are the Dapps?

Well, I'm here and even though I didn't get in on ETH ICO, I didn't miss the ETH boat.  I'm also not missing the Lisk Boat either.  Page 2 of the image is all buys of cheap ETH.

Yeah, I am sure LISK is a bit for those who missed Ether, but VHS was for those who missed... What was the name of the better tech again? lol. Anything can happen. Just as Ethereum might turn into a black Swann (way too soon to say) so might LISK, etc.

Regarding Dapps, I don't think that is the sell on these technologies. That is the result of companies and people seeing the value in the product. This is totally different than people speculating on Crypto (only). Now, you have companies who are going to be using this tech, but probably not on a large scale anytime soon - so still some speculation. I do think the money that came into ETH was from bigger pockets though.

This space is just waiting to explode. We are still a teeny little Niche. Can you imagine once mainstream (even in small part) gets going?
We have yet to hit our internet bubble, so to speak.

@bigcabrito: I suspect that a lot of the not-yet-created passphrases aren't, because they belong to accounts with multiple transactions and some people might not understand that they need a key for every single transation (although this has been made abundantly clear). Do you have any way of looking into that?

Yes, we are in the process of recompiling the information to begin e-mailing those who have partially generated their keys. This would include also include those accounts who have not generated their keys at all.

God I want to bet on this (against you)... I think there is such little chance of what you are expecting. Lisk "eating ETH alive" would mean what? 1 billion market cap and ethereum dropping BEHIND LISK?

If so, I'm willing to bet large sums of BTC against you on time frames as long as 24 months.

Only way I see this happening is if Ethereum has some fatal bug and it implodes. But, I don't see LISK catching up to Eth up there and passing it. If Lisk were to reach 900+ million and Ethereum dropped behind LISK I would pay out. No one will take that bet. Period.

The only thing eth has is organized bagholders and much much hyp, why wouldnt lisk or ANY coin be able to do that? I mean eth marketcap is way more artificial than any other crypto market.

If you would like to bet, go to a casino, this is not the place for betting mate.

And what is Etherium? Is it made of gold? It just a crypto coin with decentralized technology. Why would Lisk not surpass it? Lisk has much better future, just wait and see Wink

You guys are such pumpers, it's crazy - lol.
The more I read this thread, the more I worry about the tears that will be shed.  Cry

The expectations are just not aligned with reality. Outside of "JAVASCRIPT = LAMBO 4 ME" type posts I don't see much else... certainly nothing of substance as to why people outside of the LISK team are projecting 1 billion plus dollar market caps for this project before they even hire the actual DEV team to continue the XCR project.

This might end badly with the misaligned expectations that populate these threads. But, ok, I'm done now - let's find out in next 2-3 months.
