Any company that is in the position that KNC finds itself is like a deer caught in your headlights.

They don't know what to do because the floor has just fallen out from underneath  them and now they will be just fighting to survive.

You'll be lucky to get any units by the end of October.

KNCminer has robots to make and test units. Hashfast assembles by hand. I wouldn't say that hashfast won just yet

Well, something happened, maybe a lack of parts (??) after KNC finished or almost finished day 2 orders (that were paid in a timely manner) cause nothing was shipped or marked "in progress" beyond that date. So maybe O'rama could enlighten us about their production troubles?
Question: if KNC doesn't have the possibility of manufacturing those orders that are only "paid", why not allowing to request refunds on them?

well imho if they gave refunds now they'd be out of business with the lack of info on shipping so that is probably out

bitcoinorama said the problems we're firmware related in a post back a bit....so I suspect they are 'holding' units till a firm 'fix' is in place and probably have shipped nothing in the
last 2 or 3 days beyond what was in the pipeline in my view (not that I know)

the question is if this drags out past the oct 15th will they do any of the following  things/and or in combination?

1) Stop production of more product (ie the network protection plan) sales and have another pause before they are shipped?

2) Price cutback on all orders from the august prices (ie Jupiter 7k) to new prices after shipping nov 15th (Jupiter 5k) and thus fix problems and tell us with this new price we will just get our stuff asap but put in the November price/timeline que?

3) somehow give us more GH modules ..of some kind in compensation for the wait ..ie upgrade path

4) the same thing as with hosting some kind of compensation each day after oct 15th depending on individual timeline ..till unit is out of the plant and on its way in BTC?

anyway that is the key here ...will they bend over backwards like they did with hosting to help or will they pull a BFL and simply ignore and ship as they can ignoring the peasants storming the gate?

interesting times indeed

Anyone know why cores are being disabled on my Saturn?! Its only running at ~190Gh/s...umm help? Power cycling? Should I take the case off? I'm using a 750W Gold PSU, should I use my spare 1050 XFX Platinum PSU?

see thread people have been buying ugly cheap 20 buck fans from walmart and draping them on their open boxes of knc product ...past few pages of threads here

they said it is working just cool the living heck out of the hot and /or struggling boards (see past threads wth pics on debates on desired airflow and rube Goldberg fan setups

but bitcoinorama says it is a firmware issue ...but some people on here seem to think the above helped quite a bit

also if your pool lets you set difficulty higher that seems to help on errors

I don't have a miner i'm 340x on a Jupiter..but what I remember from lurking here (wiring Ethernet cable thru Minnesota bsmt ....may not need a fan heh heh) so I get bored and lurk here tonite at least

After a night of hashing I must report disappointing performances...

Given that the speed is between 450 and 500 GH/s, my Juliter draws more than 900w at the wall, with high temps and frequent Cgminer reboots.

It seems clear to me that where the first "batch" performed well, this second release (with half of the components on the board) has a lot of issues as many are reporting here and on KnC forums.

And YES I've upgraded the firmware, and YES it's getting proper cooling. And YES I had to remove the top.
And YES I tested the whole set of firmware sets, with 0.94 being the only that's working almost stable.

As a last note, I'm using a Seasonic Platinum PSU, not the Corsair that, assuming the rumors from KnC forums again, is giving some power issues (guess why, it's 860w certified and the Jupiter wants 900 watt!)

Should we do a meanwhile a PSU survey?

P.s.
I forgot to mention the 20% of hardware errors

crap that is the power supply I have damn it ...you "first order guys" we're supposed to have all this worked out for 500w and 600gh by now so when my 304x unit arrives I could just plug it in and in 5 min be mining and sipping martini's ...this is putting a major "ruffle" in my yuppie feathers i'll have you know!  Smiley

by cooling are you doing what some guys did in the past postings with pics literally taking 20 buck plastic walmart fans and placing them directly over the open faced miner board with a problem and blasting it .they have pics and stats back a few pages in this thread

all I got thought for a cheap fan it is worth a shot see the pics they posted some said it worked well (for now I still assume it is a firmware problem like bitcoinorama also posted in prev threads on this area in bitcointalk forums..if nothing else the pics are funny in their precarious ' hanging" over the open Jupiter miners Smiley

Yeah where is that idiot Bitcoinorama when you need him?

Imo, this is a multi - pronged problem. Not only was the packaging inadequate but more importantly we have a design problem. going from 8 to 4 VRM was a mistake.  Double the phases means half the current, means smoother power, means more stability for over clocking, means less heat, means less blowing up.  I doubt it's just firmware.

and considering that 110v over seas is different from 110v american..

lets see 110v 50hz to 110v 60hz. Defently could cause an issue.

HOWEVER. i know that the power supply should be taking all the slack in that but still could send "dirty power" to the miner.

It's just shit..... Sorry to say...

I as well have an over-configured my environment (AC cooled room at 18 C or lower), and en Enermax-1250 PSU.  Still the day-2 Jupiter (with half the components) is running 330 Gh/s instead of 550 !   Yes I ran it the whole night..and this morning BitMinter-statistics are telling: 280 Gh/s for most of the night.
As I posted before: only one ASIC-board is performing well in my Jupiter...the other 3 do MORE than 40% hardware-errors. It's a hardware issue!  Point!
I will request an RMA.... my ROI will be negative now, for sure.....I'm very sad....

I have still have a day 2 low 400 order for hosting still not hashing. 11 days past the deadline. Very disappointed. 😞

Well the day 1 hosted Jupiter's aren't doing much better... Mine has been mining for 2 days and hasn't even made .5BTC (110 - 150 GH/s plus some down time)

There is definitely something going on with the hosting but nothing has been disclosed.  I've only heard of one full speed Jupiter at the data center and that was one of bargraphics rigs (he has 11, the other 10 are just as bad as mine).  The lack of hashing is bad enough, but the lack of information really makes it hard to swallow.

I emailed them a week ago and asked to refund my hosting charge and send me my unit.  I've also asked for a full refund and they act like they didn't even read the email... no response.  I call every day and I get told the same thing, that they are looking into it, never any specifics.

I feel like I paid them an extra $2200 to keep my Jupiter hostage and there's nothing I can do about it.

are the guys with the additional fans sucking or blowing?

are the guys in hot climates without air conditioning doomed to a half (3/4) dead rig?

are the guys receiving rigs with half the VRM suffering now because they actually were needed?

if the f/w updates are merely knocking out the troublesome cores, is it really worth upgrading f/w at all?

7 grand to risk burning ur family alive with an unstable prototype rig.

c'mon guys, this cant be what all the fuss was about surely.......

are rigs even being packed & posted???

all still 'confident'.......Huh

when your confidence is proven to be b.s. (faux) optimism, will we notice any difference in your output??

PLEASE DONT KEEP IGNORING THESE KINDS OF QUESTIONS, THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS MAY BE PEANUTS TO YOU.....

Well, certainly don't do that.  It's just money after all, right?  Tongue

But, hey, Bitcoinorama claims he's all about ethics. I'm sure he'd understand your dilemma and get you a refund, right?

I'd tell them that they broke the contract, I'd want my money back and the rig delivered as per end of contract already paid up front.
The whole reason you paid for hosting was to avoid a small amount of downtime nevermind weeks of it ffs. Remember me arguing that it would take longer for them to set up hosted rigs than the 1st delivered ones sent next day? I thought I was talking hours, and only while they set up the 1st batch...not weeks of ongoing loss of hashing. For both types of customer :/
