Maybe I should ask for some compensation too  Roll Eyes
I would have loved to have my miner a few days earlier also.
In reality, I think they did a great job in general so I will not bitch about it. I can just imagine the stress they had to go through after receiving the chips. Marcus' hair is now grey, probably. Granted, my unit didn't have much problems, and I feel sorry for those who had.

maybe cheap extra modules??  if they dont sell more controllers (which we would love too) then they would just be selling back to their current customers..

well BFL has hit a "lag" point so to speak...(I keep track on the stuff I'll never get)....mini-rigs are caught up ..they sold no mini-rigs from like april 4th till June or some such..

but then again the big bitcoin rush started in april...so perhaps it is a wash..would be nice if difficulty slowed down to less the 30 percent for a bit..but doubtful

but just wait till my 'forced update" monarchs arrive..I tell you they will really be the cats' meow when the start mining them "ASICcoin" them coins are going places right? *snort*)..(wanders off mumbling no hope no hope)

ending on a positive note it sorta/kinda looks likely I'll at least get ROI (in my mind anyway) on the Jupiter I got on oct 18th

so it goes live and learn but hopefully we will have 'some' kinda lag in diff rise ..if at least on 1 round of such (knock wood)

Technically Bargraphics and I had problems. I had 1 defective chip, replaced by RMA (took 1 week, due the RMA policy that I don't care for). Both Bar and I have had problems with the hosted service in the beginning and I had a failed miner which eventually got replaced.

You don't count since you fixed your problems. I had one defective board at start too. Did RMA, got it fixed in 5 days total.

Bar doesn't count. He HAD problems and got them fixed. As for you i don't know. Do you still have problems?

So we are stuck at 5 people with problems right now?

Actually all of my miners were running at <50% for the first 3-4 days I received them.

Then they got fixed and one died,

Then it got replaced and about 3 patches later another died which also got replaced.

That is what happens when your unit is already in their house ready to be repaired, the whole reason I choose hosting since I'm in the USA and shipping units/modules/parts back to get RMA'd would be an expensive and time consuming task.

I had my share of problems, all were fixed within a reasonable time frame. I understand not everything can go 100% perfect and am satisfied with the service I received.

However this is just how I saw things on my end, I can't be sure if units actually DIED or if Firmware ACTUALLY fixed them as Hosted customers don't have access directly to the boxes.

Have you called KNC? I know O'rama says that no customer support emails get ignored, but I've found it the case that they don't all get replied to - at least not in a timely manner.

Same here. Still trying to get an RMA.

What does trying mean? Have you contacted them via email or phone? Are they refusing an RMA? Asking for screenshots?

As someone who went through this issue, I had to email several times, send screenshots and follow up with calls during Stockholm business hours.

I have an RMA number generated it seems but I have yet to get instructions on packing/shipping. This is day 2 of no info.  Not upset yet, just waiting.

If you think it's 5 people, you need to look at the knc forum and revise upwards dramatically.

If RMA is too diffcult how about selling the badly performing cards for some BTC and order new ones when (if.. ) they become available? I'm not sure but I'd think there are many buyers for those.

Edit: Disclaimer: I'm not trying to justify the bad CS, just throwing an idea.

I PMed you the address where to send it. Once you have an RMA, just send it off, track it and call them once you see that they signed for it.

I hear you...if it's running at 75% speed then taking out a card and running at 50% speed isn't great. Just for kicks, have you tried it with 1 card disconnected to see what speeds you get? I got better speeds with a bad card removed than with 1 card running on my first Jupiter.

And bitcoinorama - if you are reading this, here is the reason that KNC needs to improve the RMA policy. It hurts us to send semi-defective equipment back until much much later when the equipment is mining fewer BTC per day. It's better for KNC to wait until orders have slowed down dramatically, I'm sure, but it's not better for the customer.

I'd love a couple extra modules for my Saturn, but I also would be very hesitant to order fro KNC in thinking I would be getting repaired or sub-standard parts for a premium price. The last thing I want to buy new is an already fixed/repaired module. A buying customer deserves new %100 working electronics, don't they? The thing is, I don't trust them anymore....to spend thousands again.

Used equipment that has been repaired means that it won't likely break in again - remember that 90% of the problems happen in the first few days of operation. Also, if KNC really does ship you a defective item you can always rely on your credit card company to back you up.

Personally, as long as the price is right, I'd order extra parts for a Saturn or Mercury.
