it was a free for all, not the 'appreciation' saturn and mercury owners were 'sort of promised' by someone who may or may not have been a paid employee at the time it was written.

i was unable to benefit from buying boards except as a backup/spare as my jupiter only has 4 connectors, but i was also stuck in a queue of blocked bandwidth and was unable to purchase so it is not really my concern, i do however feel for those that were eagerly waiting for this easily miss-able opportunity.

I have to concur -- total cost, heatsinks and shipping included, was < 0.02btc/Ghs/s -- which is pretty fantastic for (hopefully) quick delivery.

Ummm... the cooling towers are NOT included...

Other than that -- yeah. The shipping is a little steep but if it shipped this week I would be a happy puppy.

You are right about the 140GHash for $1K -- I was looking.... no such animal except here.

That's why it would be nice for them to extend their run and give all the Mercury and Saturn owners the opportunity.

I got my two to upgrade my Saturn -- but I bet there are a few more who would appreciate the opportunity.

speaking of next generation stuff from KNC ..does this mean this is the LAST run (or was) of Saturn and Jupiter? ie they are not gonna have another run in dec/jan with the price of say $1k for a Jupiter or some such? Considering they also announced that the re-designed the boards for this NOV run of orders I find that difficult to believe ..unless somehow these boards can be used by the next gen chips with minimal tweaking?

and/or what is the consensus on next gen stuff going out the door I hear March 2014 on forums? (don't ask me where I 'hear' lots of stuff....probably most imaginary)..

Even if another manufacturer delivers next month, then 2 new manufacturers need to enter the next month with the same impact upon hashrate, then 4 the following month, 8 the subsequent, followed by 16, 32, 64, 128x month on month.

It's just not happening, and 'The Genesis Block' know that, it's merely a false means of traffic generation for their site so they can earn revenue from advertising...

Nevertheless, we will see (at the time KnC's second generation will see the light) around April/May 2014 a total network of around 20 PH.  When the first Jupiters were send to us, network was about 3 TH and you could mine in its first days about 1 BTC for a 7000 dollar investment.  Mapping this to April/May, I hope that KnC releases a second-gen product capable of 4000 Gh/s for 7000 dollar to make the same ROI as we are making now.....ROI, which isn't there yet in BTC-terms at all (only in dollar terms).

Let's see if KnC can "over deliver" again...... but a 4000 Gh/s product wouldn't be easy.  Still, I have high hopes!

Thanks very much for all of the people who purchased the upgrade modules, The entire bunch of 200 sold out in around 3 minutes. We have over sold a little as we were not fast enough to disable the product in the shop. and bitcoin transactions take a few minutes to become verified

What we will say is that to everyone who has paid via bitpay for their order will receive an upgrade board.

We do expect that all boxes will leave this week and we will double the team involved in packing so it goes as quick as we can

being 3 or 10 does not make any difference. The fact is, as someone already said,  that being able to buy ASIC HW for 0.02 BTC/GHs with immediate delivery is a very good deal these days, IMHO.
