I'm sure there is a better spot for this question, but this is really the only thread (because it's the best) that I follow.

Can anyone recommend better exchange options for someone based in the U.S. than Coinbase as it relates to fees?

They are charging $200 to buy and $200 to sell a full BTC right now.  Is that normal?  4% vigorish seems awful high.

Why aren't you using GDAX? Same owners as Coinbase and presumably a Coinbase account holder can drop right in. Fees'll probably be about 0.25%

Gemini is another option.

Thanks!

looking back at the last 10 days we can clearly see the bubble popping and the first good attempt at catching the resulting knife.

you can see that when the bubble popped at ~266$ their was a big dip in price without much volume ( everyone let the knife fall  )
but now at 80-50$ rang we are seeing HUGE volume spikes when their is any kind of movement up or down.
I think if we are not already at bottom, its not too far down...

Whilst Bitcoin is doing great, a quick shout-out to our buddies over at Litecoin which is also having an excellent time. Well done guys!

(Personally I don't own any altcoins, but I do respect these guys for their efforts)

there are no races ffs. there are racists like you, though.

There actually are races, between something like 20-50 races. But its not about the color of the skin as you may think, but features. And the color of the skin is mostly about geography and exposure to the Sun for multiple generations. (millennia maybe)

Jeez. People get so fkd up these days by the political correctness.

Follow this story:
There's a thing called human dna. It gets continually randomized. Humans spread out into all kinds of ecological niches.
Some mutations are handy in some niches; others are bad (and tend to die off).
So each niche creates a cluster of certain dna strings with higher/lower probability than other niches.
These clusters can grow to be so different that speciation occurs where interbreeding no longer works.
The ones you're talking about ('races' by definition) have enough differences to be noticeable, measureable, significant depending on people's definition of race. The differences include obvious stuff like skin color (yes, it's in the dna) as well as IQ and many other differences not so obvious.

Not so hard is it?

Saying there are no races just means you have a new definition of the word 'race'.
That kind of language change marks the politically correct.

I have mixed feelings about the rise. I locked in my retirement at a lower price. So now I'm not "as rich" as I could be. Best to stop thinking about the "what ifs" and just be happy. Strange feeling though.

Taking your original investment out or some profit off the top is never a bad thing. That's smart. But going all out 100%?

Man Elwar, you gotta realize that if Bitcoin can go to $5400/btc and 99.9% of the population still hasn't bought any yet, then surely you know it'll hit $20K or $50K one day in the future? You gotta keep some in, dude. If you don't then you might be regretting it years down the road.

If you are using the native Coinbase rather than the sister GDAX, u r doing it rong.

On Coinbase, you buy/sell from/to Coinbase: expensive.

On GDAX, you buy/sell from/to other customers of GDAX: cheaper.

Nooooo!!  Don't tell me that you sold everything for the Seasteading project...  Living in Tahiti would be the dream for many, but keeping some BTC for the rainy day would be quite rational and in one's best interest.
