This drop almost seems orchestrated to minimize the amount of funds North Korea will receive from the hack. Way too much of the crypto market cap has been lost due to this situation. Maybe cascading liquidations can account for some of it, but damn… I’m always a fan of removing leverage, so you can make the case for that being a bullish silver lining.

So somebody is dumping bitcoin because North Korea stole Ethereum? Sounds legit Grin

It's only third time in the last 8 weeks that we've been this dead. Third time's a charm!

If we go below 89k we'll be the deadest in 2025.

Have you noticed that these big red candles happen on the same hour every day? 3 or 4 p.m. GMT+1 is always red.

I think people have the expectation that “mr v” will rollback the blockchain. As you said, he has done it before. I have a little ETH that I got many years ago and wouldn’t be opposed to them forking again. I’d probably immediately sell the unsupported chain’s coins and buy Bitcoin with them. I’m probably not alone, so I think that might be a positive for Bitcoin.

I recall saying at the time that they get to do it one (1) time. A second time establishes a pattern that destroys their credibility entirely. Of course, they may continue to soldier on as a speculative shitcoin but they'll never be able to restore confidence in their governance. Some might disagree and say that already happened at the first time and they may be right.

People trying to front-run the dip and fomo will move things a good way. Hopefully we get some bounce-back soon.

Am just a newbie what do I know.

Good question.

Everything. Everything going exactly as foreseen.. sadly

How could you be gleeful?  A no coiner who failed to buy.

Even if some guys might have had a $25k average entry point, these guys are still nearly 4x higher value than their costs.

I am not saying that you could have front-loaded your BTC investment when you registered on the forum, and BTC prices were just under $11k on that day.

If you had started investing $100 per week, you would have had invested $23k by now, and you would have accumulated nearly 0.7 BTC.. which surely would not be a bad place to be.

a JJG bet-
thought we would have some more time
before Bitcoin death

About 6 hours ago, the odds had seemed to be clearly in WatChe's favor until troubles stirred.. and the cornz are kind of like that, from time to time.... Things started to get shakey..... and perhaps now, the odds are getting in the 50/50 territories.. and maybe even looking rough to reverse.. since we know that trend is our friend, even when not liking it.. .. absent some BIG ASS, HIGH VOLUME bounce.. which, yeah, it could still happen.. Sure.. There's a chance.

I don't necessarily want to win this here wee widdo bet from poor widdo WatChe, but since two hours ago, we were merely $929 away from a resolution of the bet (as I type this post).  That is not large in the whole scheme of things, since it does not really seem to be very much of a difference  in the ballpark of 1.021687%  -ish --   - give or take?  It is not a BIG safety net (or price cushion).. and the game is not over yet.. There is still a chance..   Cry Cry Cry

Some might disagree and say that already happened at the first time and they may be right.

For anyone paying attention to that piece of shitcoin, they have well more than 3 fatal strikes already against them... so three strikes and your out.. but it takes a while to get out, it seems...

I know, I know, I know, if I start to list the three strikes, we may well easily get to more than 3... .. . I think that I have 4 off the top of my head... Dare I do it?.. I hate to be talking about shitcoins, but at least we are talking negatively about such shitcoin..

Here we go 4 strikes:

1) 2b]2015-ish premine [/b]of around 70%-ish of  the issued coins, and failure/refusal to disclose exact quantity of coins and who gots them..  not that there is any exact need to know exactly who had gotten them.. but just a kind of idea might be helpful.

2) related to 1.. but still seems to be a sufficiently separate point - no ability to audit the exact number of coins in existence at any given time, whether in the beginning, whether at any point  between 2015 and now, whether now.

3) 2016- ish hard fork to reverse exploit in contract language (dao hardfork - which resulted in ETC as original chain)

4) July 2022-ish conversion (or would it be hardfork?) to proof of stake

I decided to try that bitcoin DCA thingie starting maybe in July as I will have some additional cash flow (that I don't need for spending) coming up then.
Not sure how to do it, though...maybe will just keep it on Kraken or Coinbase or, maybe not.
I should catch up the upward surge (if one is coming) in late 2025 or early 2026.

That is quite a bit into the future 4 months-ish.

I frequently suggest weekly, but it becomes difficult when you might already have a lot of BTC, and I think that frequently the idea of DCA is just to buy when you have the money come in.. but if you are getting BIG chunks at a time then you might be reluctant to spend all  the new money at once...

So when you determine that you have extra money, then you just use it to buy during that week.  If you know in advance how much you are going to get, then you know when the money is coming in, but if you get all of the money in one chunk or  a couple of chunks, for example at the beginning of July, then you might want to spread out some of your buys out through July and/or August, then that may or may not be such a good idea depending on what the BTC price is doing or expected to do,.. ..

but yeah, it is kind of a discretionary thing about how to divide it.. like if you were to know that you were getting $36k (or something like that) then you could use some of it (perhaps 1/3 $12k) to buy right away, and then another part to DCA (perhaps 1/3 $12k) and then another part to buy on dips (perhaps 1/3 $12k) ..

One possibility for a small bear market is that, perhaps, lots of fed workers were into bitcoin crypto since they knew about the systemic "rot", presumably, and now, fearing for their jobs, are selling off?
BTw, the last I heard, real estate in DC area declined 20%, which is not surprising.

If less gov largess would result in smaller bitcoin, it would suck, but this is what Musk was predicting few weeks ago.
Long term, the cycle (or following cycles) will restart after the stock market decline followed by another inevitable QE, imho.
