Did i already mention that i miss the sound of 56k modems, but i still dream about them sometimes? That sounds fun to use as a ringtone. I only wait until i have some spare time to make this brilliant idea real Thanks. I'm a big fan of personalized ringtones! Stealing the idea after OutOfMemory

Edited to add: I personally still prefer J.S. Bachs 'Toccata and Fugue in D minor' as ringtone, things need some dramatic spice up at times

They just need some cutting up and selective boosting to make a few good ringtones.

I didn't even know about yt-dlp until just two days ago when I read an article in HackerNews informing people that they could no longer rely on the native JavaScript... ah, rather than paraphrasing, here's the quote: Up until now, yt-dlp has been able to use its built-in JavaScript "interpreter" to solve the JavaScript challenges that are required for YouTube downloads. But due to recent changes on YouTube's end, the built-in JS interpreter will soon be insufficient for this purpose. The changes are so drastic that yt-dlp will need to leverage a proper JavaScript runtime in order to solve the JS challenges. https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp/issues/14404 Anyway, I was surprised to see it mentioned here so soon after first learning about it. For the most part, I have been using web-based downloaders - nice to know there are other options.

~snip~ The headline isn't accurate. It's just one politician asking this, I wouldn't call that "considering". The part about inflation is laughable: inflation is created on ECB on purpose, and politicians (and even the ECB itself) act as if it's a force of nature or even "a ghost".

Bitcoin Resilience Tested: Price Loses Key Support Band, Drop to $105,000 Likely
The crypto king has lost ground as bearish momentum strengthens, with limited support from macroeconomic conditions further worsening sentiment.
Bitcoin Faces Correction - Spot Bitcoin ETFs are playing a critical role in the current selloff, with significant outflows marking the week. Since Monday, the funds have recorded withdrawals totaling $226 million. This is a sharp reversal from the steady inflows seen earlier this month. Such moves reflect growing caution among institutional investors.
Beyond ETFs, broader signals are pointing toward more downside risk for Bitcoin. The Supply Quantiles Cost Basis Model shows BTC slipping under the 0.95 quantile band, an area closely watched by analysts. This range typically represents heavy profit-taking zones for long-term holders.
A sustained decline below this risk band would confirm bearish conditions. Historically, such moves have preceded steep drawdowns, putting price targets between $105,000 and $90,000 in play. With macroeconomic headwinds and cautious institutional flows, Bitcoin’s outlook leans heavily toward weakness. ► https://finance.yahoo.com/news/bitcoin-resilience-tested-price-loses-135642238.html

Did i already mention that i miss the sound of 56k modems, but i still dream about them sometimes? That sounds fun to use as a ringtone. I only wait until i have some spare time to make this brilliant idea real Thanks. I'm a big fan of personalized ringtones! Stealing the idea after OutOfMemory You're welcome As soon as it was possible to use custom ringtones, i did so. I particularly remember my old Samsung GSM phone, where you had to encode the ringtones in some fancy compressed wav format and transfer it via cable onto the device. You also had to compress the hell out of the audio to swamp the noise of the compression algorithm. This was long before touchscreens and even years ahead of 3G. Thanks to the links here, i can use a variety of modem sounds (and dramatic orchestral pieces), as i like to assign distinct tones to special individuals. When my mother is calling, the harmonica signature from Ennio Morricone's "C'era una volta il West" goes off EDIT: My standard ringtone at the moment is the plucked guitar intro of "Could you be loved" (Bob Marley) in a 1 bar-loop. Occasionally it happens that somebody nearby in public will sing or hum along when it goes off How fuck@#$ weird is this? I didn't even know about yt-dlp until just two days ago when I read an article in HackerNews informing people that they could no longer rely on the native JavaScript... ah, rather than paraphrasing, here's the quote: Up until now, yt-dlp has been able to use its built-in JavaScript "interpreter" to solve the JavaScript challenges that are required for YouTube downloads. For the most part, I have been using web-based downloaders - nice to know there are other options. I like it convenient, i am using jDownloader2 to grab Youtube media from a link, it offers me to download the audio (m4a) separately from the video stream file and decodes it inline using an ffmpeg-plugin. I do the processing in Audacity (which i was using for ages after "Goldwave" wasn't maintained anymore) and send it to the Smartphone via USB as 128kBit mp3.

Bitcoin Resilience Tested: Price Loses Key Support Band, Drop to $105,000 Likely
What's that bearish nonsense? $110 all down through to $108.5k has tons of liquidity for the market. This is obviously the target zone bears stubbornly try to hit. On the other hand, there's tomorrow's expiry of CME futures at $117.4k , which i am curious about if "the gap" will be closed. It's not guaranteed, and it's a nice way to make money and/or get cheaper corn for market makers. Bitcoin is being fucked by derivatives, but that doesn't change any of the fundamentals. Stay on the sideline (hodl) and buy when you can. EDIT: And the other thing is, as long as there is no retail, the chance of heavy corrections (retailer's wording = "crashes") is low. It's a different market now, and that what i tried do say yesterday was already nailed by @Searing earlier today (and the other WO with whom he discussed this topic, whose name i can't remember right now).

Tools like ChatGPT comes in handy when one has to read 698603 replies. Of course such tools won't beat the actual information you got while reading all the replies.
One can also use ChatGPT to learn about the meaning of the Rusty Pipe Treatment: Got it — here’s a clear explanation of **“Rusty Pipe Treatment” (RPT)** as it appears in the **Wall Observer (WO)** thread on Bitcointalk:
---
### What it is
* The **“Rusty Pipe Treatment”** is a **running joke / meme** in the WO thread. * It was popularized by long-time poster **BobLawblaw** around 2021. * The phrase is used as a tongue-in-cheek **threat of punishment** for bad posting, trolling, or general annoyance in the thread.
---
### How it’s used
* Typically, a poster says someone is *“about to receive the rusty pipe treatment.”* * Sometimes others exaggerate it with add-ons like a **“special edition”** or combine it with other slapstick imagery (e.g. “bat-slapping and/or rusty pipe treatment”). * It’s never literal — the WO community uses it to **mock, discipline, or roast** other posters in a humorous way.
---
### Tone & cultural role
* **Not violent in intent**: it’s part of the **over-the-top, bantering style** of WO. * Acts as **tribal humor**: regulars recognize it as a light-hearted “punishment” that reinforces in-group norms. * Over time, variations of the phrase emerged, showing it became a **shared meme** rather than just BobLawblaw’s line.
---
✅ **In short:** In the Bitcointalk Wall Observer thread, the **“Rusty Pipe Treatment”** is a jokey, exaggerated way of saying someone deserves a smackdown (verbally, not physically) for poor posting. It’s one of many playful, semi-menacing metaphors WO users throw around, giving the thread its unique, rowdy character.
---
EDIT: I had to train ChatGPT a couple of times in regard to rusty pipes and their origin, before it put out above answer, which is the most correct i could get from it so far. Still, ChatGPT does not seem to find out anything about the detailed procedure of RPT. Maybe it's censorship to blame here? But following the links ChatGPT provides after more deep searches of the exact term likely leads to an explanation, hopefully of graphic nature, if Bob didn't delete it back then. EDIT2: And it's a shame that many of the great RPT-inspired images and memes hosted at imgur disappeared from this here thread This certainly doesn't help unterstanding the meaning of rusty pipes. EDIT3: Thought twice, i assume that the original term is even older, because Bob deleted some probably substantial posts about RPT, and from my personal feeling i came across the term/memes earlier than 2021. But you know, my nickname is program when it comes to exact memories, a lot of times. EDIT4: I hope i'm done editing this post now Little effort done in training the AI model is worthy specially if it gives results close to truth. Your this research has helped me and many like me in getting ourselves enlightened with ' Rusty Pipe Treatment'

"Training" in the way of asking and refining in special ways early in the session, to make CGPT look in more relevant resources and for special contexts. The first few answers were pretty useless and not really on point regarding the RPT. * OutOfMemory cursing that Song again

With time it will get better and with time we can have better free version of ChatGPT. Bitcoin is being fucked by derivatives, but that doesn't change any of the fundamentals. Stay on the sideline (hodl) and buy when you can.
It's nothing new. We have seen so many times Bitcoin even in more worse scenarios like this. I am confident that Bitcoin will recover some day.
