Yeah, but what is its proof?

Proof is in the pudding.
Are there really different proofs for vodka? I have never seen one above 80 proof... Or am I declined higher proofs because of some EU bs laws?

In an attempt to get back on the good side of the thread after my bearish predictions… I have acquired a piece of beef and will be attempting to make my own brisket in the next day or two. I’ve made many pork roasts, which I imagine is similar and look forward to potentially upgrading my meat of choice for some slow roasted goodness.

Walk the talk bear!

Everything above unflavored ramen seems excessive if the situation is as dire as you tend to describe it.

j/k enjoy your fine meal.

I didn’t say how I acquired it. It is theoretically possible to have found a cut of beef dumpster diving behind a Walmart. Not saying that’s how I did it, but if the bear gets bad enough we always have options.

Now to see if I can get a good bark on my brisket. I think that’s going to be the main difference between cooking brisket and pork roast.

@d_eddie - You are correct. It was not you that suggested I tell scumbags OOM and JJG to 'Fuck you'.

It was Richy_T here: https://asktom.cf/index.php?topic=178336.msg65732828#msg65732828

The only ones that stood up for me was Hueristic, Philipma1957, xhomerx10 and Richy_T and maybe a little bit of help from you, d_eddie.

Phil said about me:

You goods guys here should run scumbag bully thug OOM and scumbag word goon JJG off of this place, because those two shit asses (in particular) totally spoil what should be a welcoming and good place for advocates of Bitcoin.

I think i also mistakenly credited you for that "fuck you" (which was more meant like "don't care" anyway) in the past. Maybe that's why.
Suggesting Richy_T, as i confuse you both quite often. IDK why, though, similar hats plus the underscore in the nickname, maybe?
It's really not that important, though.

China claims U.S. government stole 127,000 Bitcoin from mining pool during a 2020 cyber attack, valued at over $13 billion at the current price.

https://cryptobriefing.com/china-accuses-us-of-stealing-127k-bitcoin-lubian-mining-pool/

"The Bitcoin stolen from LuBian was worth approximately $127 million at 2020 prices, but would be valued at over $13 billion at current market rates."

so the article above has the quote I found inside it.

now math says 13,000,000,000/127,000,000=102.362

102.362 x more valuable

thus some time in 2020.

104,000/102=1,019.608  BTC was worth a mere 1019.60 usd

So the article is really fucking wrong since the lowest price in 2020 was about 3900 and it lasted about a day at that price.

Quote
China has accused the US of stealing 127,000 Bitcoin from a Chinese mining pool during a 2020 cyber attack.

Phil - 127,000 Bitcoins - Yes, I think the 2020 value stated in the article was incorrect at $127k, and was not caught by the editor before final print approval...

The key takeaway is that China is accusing the U.S. of stealing 127,000 Bitcoin back in 2020.

A thank you for the veteran's day wish

B IF the math is  wrong and it certainly is maybe the coin total is wrong?

Now 127k coins on a pool wallet in 2020 is pretty much very unlikely.

Here is why in 2020 pretty halving blocks were 12.5 coins post halving blocks were 6.25

Sooooo 144 blocks in a day is 144×12.5= 1800 coins a day for the entire network.
And if it was after halving 144×6.25= 900 coins a day for the entire network.

That pool was not a 20% of the network pool it was more like 7-9%

Thus maybe 180 coins a day pre-halving and 90 coins a day post halving.

Or in terms of how long it took to grow to 127,000 coins.

Well over 750 days if pre halving and well over 1300 days post halving.

And no miner let's the pool  hold their earnings 1300 days or even 750 days.

I put my mining earnings into my own wallet about every 2 weeks
As that is all I am willing to risk for  the ease of doing less wallet moves.

When I get to 0.015 btc auto move
When I get to 0.100 ltc auto move
When I get to 500 doge auto mo v e.

So the article is inaccurate in two  ways.

The USA did not steal 127k via hacking from that pool in the year 2020
The increase in value was not 102x from 2020 to 2025.

Now  did  the USA government  hack coins?  I do not know
NOW DOES the USA government hold 127k coins I do not know.
NOW did the USA grab wallets from crooks as they claim they did? I do know

I only know that if math is real that story is wrong.

I also realize we can all agree that 1+1= 34 and fuck up the rules of math but that is a side bar.

Phil - It wasn't my info - the info was in the link I provided. It shouldn't be my responsibility to fact check a published article before posting a link! I'm sure as hell not going to fact check articles from Bloomberg, WSJ, CNBC, Financial Times, Yahoo Finance, etc. etc. and etc....

I sure hope you don't think people should fact check articles and do extensive research to make sure everything is accurate before posting a link...

PS - You're welcome! And, thank you again... Have a nice day!

BOOM!

https://www.space.com/astronomy/sun/sun-unleashes-strongest-solar-flare-of-2025-sparking-radio-blackouts-across-africa-and-europe

"The sun erupted in spectacular fashion this morning (Nov. 11), unleashing a major X5.1-class solar flare, the strongest of 2025 so far and the most intense since October 2024.

The eruption peaked at 5 a.m. EST (1000 GMT) from sunspot AR4274, which has been bursting with activity in recent days. The blast triggered strong (R3-level) radio blackouts across Africa and Europe, disrupting high-frequency radio communications on the sunlit side of Earth.
"

-----
my take

The CME was released with such power that it is travelling at 4.4 million miles per hour toward earth and will likely catch up with one or both of the earlier CMEs from the X1.2 and the X1.8 flares a couple of days ago.  Given our distance from the sun, it should take about 21 hours to arrive.  The activity of last night was from an earlier M-class solar flare and resultant CME (C and M class  flares happen with much greater frequency but usually will not generate significant solar storms).  I'm expecting awesomeness and hoping for clear skies!  Maybe some auroras tonight but certainly tomorrow night and they will very likely be visible deep into the USA and Europe as well as Russia and Australia.  Keep your eyes on the skies, guys! Smiley

Edit: explanation of the types of solar flares and their effect on earth (I = intensity)

ClassPeak W/m²
BI < 10⁻⁶
I10⁻⁶ ≤ I < 10⁻⁵
C10⁻⁵ ≤ I < 10⁻⁴
M10⁻⁴ ≤ I
XI ≥ 10⁻⁴

Just to be clear, there are CMEs resulting from three recent X-class flares on the way to earth which will likely combine intensifying their effect.  I usually only talk about the positive effect - auroras - but there can be negative effects and we'll hear about that on the news in a couple of days anyway if we we sill have an electrical grid.  So far, this is looking a lot like the series of flares that caused the Bastille Day solar storm in July of 2000.  That produced a Kp of 9...  which means

...though NOAA is predicting Kp=7 (still giving very decent auroras)

I find them to be somewhat conservative in their estimates.

I try to research links a lot and I found that  in general many bad sets of info are out there.
ITS tough to catch the errors or lies but it helps  to find them if you can.

Here is a thread where I found an error that got fixed.

https://asktom.cf/index.php?topic=5565048.0

The article the op wrote was good in general and I  like  to think it is better with the info I put into the thread.
