This is so fascinating to me. There is only one way this plays out for countries that do this. And I'm not just talking about the Bitcoin part. Taxing unrealized gains on investments is a level of state robbery that we've never seen before. It will just drain people's accounts into non-existence.
So if this does indeed spread, if it can even be upheld in the Netherlands, my God, may someone see the light there. It's insane because it's going to wreck the economies of every country that tries to employ this kind of draconian bullshit.
For me the question is simple: If I can be taxed on unrealized gains in a year then... ok, fine. So how do I file for a tax rebate/refund for unrealized losses? The state is taxing my unrealized gains, thus they must also compensate me for my unrealized losses. Right?

Trump family made lot of money from shitcoins and they have a Bitcoin mining business. Trump is surely selfish enough to push the market for his own good... I think his selfishness can be trusted They say if you know who a man is, you only need to trust him to be himself. I know he is incredibly divisive, so much so that I wonder if he's just the anti-Christ.
He is a great deal maker who cares only about making a great deal. He says what he does to manipulate people into doing what he wants and it works. I’d recommend looking at his results if his rhetoric offends you. Have you ever watched the Kill Tony show? Watch Trump’s speeches with that same energy and you’ll quickly come to think of him as the most entertaining President of all time instead of being so offended. Entertainer-in-chief has real world ramifications. I am not even trying to take away from the importance of humor, yet there are differences when humor is punching up or if humor is punching down. When a person reaches a position of higher levels of power, then there would be likely humor directed at him, to the extent that he might not be too delicate to receive such humor.

It's not even robbery. It's just not sane. It signifies a total lack of economic and financial literacy.
I am neither maga nor anti maga. I am simply a pragmatist and it is dark right now in our choices as Americans (I realize I'm speaking to an international audience and I'm speaking as an American) have been kind of crazy for many years really.
I would say it has been dark for a while and that is why Trump was able to gain traction. If the Republicans hadn't consistently been putting up awful candidates who totally failed to represent their base's interests once elected for so long, Trump wouldn't have had a chance and, I believe, wouldn't have felt compelled to run in the first place. Similar for Bernie but the DNC shut him down pretty quickly.
yet there are differences when humor is punching up or if humor is punching down.
No, funny is funny. Let's end this puritanical scolding. It's fucking ruined comedy. https://youtu.be/bd-kwEyKKZg?t=436

this is all on realized losses or gains
Realized losses and gains are a different story; I get the cash and don't mind much paying taxes on the profits. It's the whole "if you're up this year cash in some to pay us (wait, do you then have to pay more taxes on the amount you use to pay the unrealized gains?) but fuck you if you have losses thing.

I deliberately created a 60k cap loss which the feds said okay and NJ is we do not care you can not use it. So when I took a 40k gain a year or 2 later there was zero fed tax and maybe 6% tax on it from NJ around 2400

Brian Armstrong said that they are still discussing the Crypto bill and will be finalized next month.
Bitcoin pumps ---> portion of gold/silver moves into Bitcoin ---> retail fomo ---> Wallstreet and WO selling making a killing ---> retail fcked again -as always-.
Numbers could go from ~$200,000 to over $300,000.

You misunderstand (easy with me). I do see him as a master manipulator. He dors it on a level that flies over the head of those who dislike him. This causes them to make the grave error of thinking he's stupid. But that too works for him. They are too busy twistingb themselves into knots to be a problem for him. And I am dead serious that I wonder if he is the Antichrist. 😁😈. I guess me and Peter Thiel are alike in that we will openly say such crazy things. The US and the world have reached a level of division and discord at which people on both "sides" feel JUSTIFIED in killing those who disagree with them. Trump has fed into this and benefited from it. I think overall his movement towards making the US openly acting as an empire again (instead of prtending to be humanitarian while robbing the world blind through the USD) is wise. The whole world is being remade this way.

Unrealized gains taxes would not just take a cut "off the top", they also castrate the basis from which to make further gains. In think legislation like this in the US would cause a civil war or revolt. Good to see you Mr Lightfoot.
