Steam codes are not valid as collateral, but your Xbox, for example, is valid if the value is 120% Over the amount you try to lend but select only a trusted member if you ship the console or select some escrow who will hold the collateral to avoid being scammed out of your collateral!

If your Collateral is physhical, then you need to ship it to the lender or to an escrow.
After he confirms that your item is in the condition that you state, then you will get any funds.
