Just my 2 cents, for Crypto in general to succeed it needs to be understandable to the layman. So as an IT professional I realize we are constantly struggling with this topic. So please make the white paper easy to read for Deep Vault. I think that will make Deep Onion more appealing.
This is a very good point that I agree with. All of the information available maybe needs to be "clean" a bit to make it all more "user friendly" to the average person. If anyone has hopes for mainstream adoption then we as a community devs and members need to make everything as "user friendly" as we can. I've been telling my friends about this one and even sent 2 of them 10 onions each They are definitely a little confused about all of the info and it takes some time to explain, I think maybe that will not change, but at least we can try to help newbies understand better i guess EDIT: I also wanted to ask if it will result in anything to mine with just the wallet cpu and if it's worth trying? Anyone with any insight on this will be greatly appreciated, thanks i agree. i think the dev team should hire someone with great english writing skills (professional) to handle documents to be published. after english documents are published, dev team can hire talented members to translate these documents to other language.

Deepvault it is very important update of DeepOnion. Now it is means that DeepOnion more then just coin. Now we can see that it is phylosophy, that it is idea and technology based on the blockchain.

DeepVault DeepVault is a blockchain innovation brought to you by the DeepOnion Development team. DeepVault allows users to determine whether or not a file has been changed or corrupted by enabling hash verification of the file. Non-technical users:A hash is a random string of characters of fixed length (for example: hello = 2cf24dba5fb0a30e26e83b2ac5b9e29e1b161e5c1fa7425e73043362938b9824, hello1 = 91e9240f415223982edc345532630710e94a7f52cd5f48f5ee1afc555078f0ab). A hash is unique as no two inputs (files or texts) generate the same hash. For instance, hello and hello1 will have completely different hash values as witnessed in the previous example. One use for hashing is the ability to generate the hash of a file. What this means is that the current version of the file is hashed at that moment in time. As previously mentioned, even changing 1 character in the file will generate a completely different hash. This is obviously very useful if you have an important file (such as a legal contract) that you wish to verify its integrity. Upon signing a contract, you could generate its hash using the wallet and store it in the blockchain. You could then check in a few months time that the hash generated earlier matches the current hash of the file. If they match, it means that the file has not been altered and thus the contract is still valid. If they do not match, it means that the file has been altered (if this is a legal document, you need to make sure that someone has not maliciously tampered with it). The benefit of utilising the blockchain is that it is immutable (cannot be changed). That means that when you store the hash, it is available forever and can never be changed. Technical Users:The hash is generated using SHA-256, a current hashing function with no known collisions. The function can also incorporate the user's wallet to provide restriction as to the hash value (a form of cryptographic security). Important:DeepVault is not a file store, it is a hash store. You should take every necessary step to secure your documents from tampering by storing them in a secure location. Thank you for your time and we look forward to answering any of your questions. I am so excited that finally we get information about DeepVault , really i need to study more to get the full picture then i will post and translate it to Arabic ANN . Thank you

DeepVault is an absolutely brilliant idea, as all are saying, well done Dev and Development team, i have reteemed tweeted and facebooked it all I also wrote my own article including this new feature and the amazing continuous work being done by all. This is what gave me the idea for that design, DeepOnion Groundbreaking crypto poster earlier this morning. Here is my new high-tech twitter background image, i am not finished yet but its a bit more modern than my last.

I like this idea of DeepVault but i have 1 question. You are saying we can verify files hases using DeepVault to verify the integrity of the file. That's great but i want to know what benefit do storing the hash in blockchain offers more? I mean if we have a file and we generate the hash of it and then we can directly give the generated hash to receiver to verify the file using many 3rd party utilities then what more do we get by storing the hash in blockchain and then verifying that way?
It shows authenticity of the file. This is great for legal binding contracts that might go through multiple hands. When there is any type of money (business or otherwise) transaction, especially in large sums, they can easily be modified. If a document has been transferred through an approval chain or otherwise and has been tampered with, without your knowing, once it returns to you, you can verify the hash integrity on the blockchain. So use cases would be: Accounting Records (HUGE FEATURE especially if you own your own business and have an accountant) Contracts for pretty much anything Legal binding documents such as court documents or subpoenas Configuration files for any type of software, controls system, etc. Testimonies WillsI could probably think of more, but it's too early in the morning lol Other use case I've heard about are intellectual property rights disputes such as patents disputes. For example timestamped hash of document describing your idea might prove to patent issuing authority that you got that idea before somebody else. And the fact that your private keys were used to sign the transaction storing the hash on the blockchain proves the ownership of the document and hence the idea. Another more futuristic use case would be to store the hash of your own genome data on the blockchain. Beautiful contribution again, These are very important points. I could sense the knowledge in your words. Would you like to involve in future DeepOnion marketing and developments?

I would love to get my hands on this to retrieve some informations. Thanks for the hand! Not sure about prohashing.com but you can do this with http://explorer.deeponion.org/info. To learn how to do that, see the sections API calls and the examples of the getrawtransaction [txid] [decrypt] call Btw, you can do this directly in your DeepOnion wallet. - open the console window by clicking at: Help - Debug Window - Console
- in the input field write gerawtransaction [txid]
- the system will show transaction in serialized binary (=non-human-readable) format called raw format
- copy the raw transaction data
- in the input field write decoderawtransaction [raw transaction data]
Beautiful contribution, These are very important points. I could sense the knowledge in your words. Would you like to involve in future DeepOnion marketing and developments?

hello everybody, a friend of mine (known here as Knepala) has introduced me to Deeponion and I have bought a bunch of onions. I have a question now that he can't help me with, I want to change laptops, from windows to a Mac. I've already copied the wallet.dat to an external drive but I don't know where to put it on my Mac and how it can synchronize. Any advice is welcome. anyone? still trying to figure out where the wallet file should go on a mac... I think this: Open a finder window, click on "Go" menu "Go to Folder …" enter "~/Library/Application Support/" and open "DeepOnion" folder. But better you can follow tutorial here: https://deeponion.org/community/threads/how-to-install-deeponion-on-mac-w-config-to-perfectly-sync-to-network.371/Thanks I'm certainly gonna try it !!

Wonderful update. This is what Deep Onion needed, something that ensures the work behind and be viewed like.. this is something serious. Many people now will look at deep onion differently. I have no doubt that deep onion promises a lot because they are not just a development team, we are now 300 participants in the air like the Spartans.
I will make a youtube video talking about this in spanish later!
