People constantly say the world's end is near, to make themselves famous, earn money or to motivate people to help solve certain problems.

An example of this is Global Warming. It has been exagerated on A LOT, but if that didn't happen, no one would try to solve it. Why? Because "100 years from now" sounds like a whole new era, which you will never live long enough for to see.
Thus, as the selfish beings we are, people wouldn't try to solve it, until, of course, it's too late and the problem has grown too big to solve. Therefore, we keep hearing that the world's end is near.

I believe humanity isn't going to be extinct any time soon. If we survive the next 150 years, we're gonna survive the next couple billions of years as well.
The current number one threat is probably a large meteorite. If it's large enough and hits the Earth on the right spot, we could be extinct quite easily. Maybe there would be a couple survivors... In a landscape filled with ashes, toxic substances, long cold periods and lacking organisms we're used to eat.

We're gonna have technology to avoid those meteorite impacts though and after we have that technology, our number one threat switches: It'll be our own annihilation.

No one know our world will end, what we can do was maintain our earth for our next generation. Like never use any products contain harmful to our ozone, like refrigerator, air conditioner, etc. Mostly people does not aware to this simple things can effected to our atmosfere. All government already anticipate this situation (global warming), building some substitute product that ozone free, if in air conditioner using R32 Freon that friendly to our atmostfere.
