Everyone should update to this new version, this will help to avoid a DeepOnion hard fork. I think the bigger the network weight the faster the transactions will go!
Before you make a replacement of your DeepOnion installation, make sure you have plenty of backups of your wallet.dat from your roaming folder!

I think that as long as you have the wallet.dat file and your private key saved in a safe place you are ok to install/replace your current DeepOnion folder for the new version!
