I'm here to declare home mining completely dead and a total thing of the past. There is now no way anyone can possibly make ROI purchasing any of the available hardware out there, period!

Not one product on Rigwarz.com can even come close to achieving a ROI, even though they say they can. I challenge anyone reading this to prove me wrong. After you're done embarrassing yourself i'll explain why it's impossible using any of the miners that one runs in their homes. Even if you get free electricity and pay 0 in pool fees, you still can't make your money back, period.

The days of making money by mining coins is long gone unless the price of bitcoin skyrockets. Which honestly, I don't see that happening with all the new regulations that are making it near impossible to use as was intended. It's a miracle the price has held above $350 for as long as it has. Everyday massive amounts of BTC mining hardware becomes obsolete as the difficulty rises.

The only way to make a buck mining is if you got the chips for free, say you trick a bunch of customers into buying them for you. Anyone come to mind?

The hardware manufacturers are gouging people at retail...bottom line. Their markup is insane but they do it because it's a high risk business where their product becomes obsolete within months. There's a reason that the manufacturer who started out selling a piece of hardware at $10,000 can, after two or three months, sell that same piece of hardware for like $3,000. They aren't taking a loss at $3,000, I can tell you that.

However, I remember very clearly a bunch of GPU miners in July-August of last year, talking about how they were getting out of mining because it just wasn't profitable anymore. Then BOOM - prices skyrocketed and they'd have been raking in the money with low difficulty, while others scrambled to get involved. That's the mining game. When we finally see the return of a bull market, things will improve again...but the hardware has to come down in price and the only way that'll happen is if people stop paying the inflated prices. I personally wouldn't pay more than $3.50/MH for an ASIC now (that includes power supply, etc...) and nobody is offering that. Cheapest I've seen is about $5. I'm also not going to do any more pre-orders. So I may be done with mining for a while...which just means what I would have spent on hardware is going directly into coin.

Putting money straight into coins is probably the only sane way left to go if you're still strong on cryptos.

When you think about it there shouldn't be any GPU miners left out there at all, unless they are running on free power. Even then, it's hardly worth it. ASICs are way too pricey to make sense. At least when you built a home GPU miner you were still left with a computer to resell, everyone needs computers. A custom built ASIC miner can't hold it value when compared to say a motherboard, GPU, or PSU.

Funny how Alpha-T is out of stock of everything on their website considering the bulk of their customers are suing them in one way or another. They must have plenty of unfilled orders? Wonder why they don't even attempt to take in more money? Nothing passes the smell test with these crooks.

Harhar.
Are you taking bets ?

I'm betting that either way, stuff happens. This way, I can't lose.

I'm definitely interested to see how they'll meet their promised figures of efficiency.

Looking over their terms and conditions they are still referring to 18Mhs/ and 90Mh/s units. I know this has been brought up before, but this is essentially the contract that they are bound to. Let's pretend they didn't revise it twenty times and invalidate the whole thing in the process. According to their current terms they aren't shipping 50Mh/s or 250Mh/s units to anyone.

This complete train wreck of a company isn't going to deliver anything but broken promises. I'm surprised they haven't dissolved the whole mess yet.

Viper / What happened here, why refund part of my money without telling anything?

What happened? I am still waiting for my machine,  even  it's super delayed. There are no news, no prototype, no updates, nothing. But today, PayPal refunded my initial paid money, and I am so confused and shocked. I didn't ask for refunding, and you did it without asking me. I fully paid long time ago, what about my other 2/3 money? What about my machine? I checked my order status, it shows my order cancelled! You guys can't deliver the machine any more? If like so,  send back my 2/3 left money too, otherwise, give me the machine I ordered.!!!! I swear I never give up to get my all money back or get my fully functioned machine!!! Answer my question here or send pm to me ASAP! I am waiting for your response and plan my next action seriously against you guys. Let's better find a good solution for this other than some ugly things happen.

Considering that it's been a solid month since they claimed they'd be shipping "soon" - I'd say the writing has to be on the wall, at this point. I don't think anyone actually wants the systems anymore, anyway.

We made a deal with Alpha-T for a refund. They actually refunded us part of the amount we agreed to (partly through PayPal, partly through bank transfer).
But they also don't keep this deal, because they didn't refund the total amount we agreed to. Anyone else made a deal for a refund and did Alpha-T pal in full ?
At least we have some money back we can use now to claim 100% back by small court procedure.

Alpha-T are bad people, all i can say. If you go through these pages you will see that at one time when they re-opened the batch they offered to pay back some people only a percentage of their money. But this was all pretend good gestures so that there is no bad mouthing at the time when the batch was open so that new clients would think hey look they even offer payouts cool, instead of them asking how come a company that is supposed to deliver mid july is still taking orders mid april!

I just read this topic and I was very surprised to see this sentence there:
"The centre, which is run by the City of London Police, said it has received 20 reports against Manchester-based Alpha Technology. Those reports were assessed by the national fraud intelligence unit and passed on to Greater Manchester Police (GMP)."

More than 2000 people were scammed and only 20 filled fraud report. It was unbelievable for me, so I immediately filled one report on: http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/report_fraud
It took me about an 1 hour to fill it, but I think this was well spent hour. I hope until the end of this week to have at least 500 reports submitted, so I will not see anymore this said by Mohammed Akram:
"According to Mohammed Akram, Alpha Technology's chief executive and founder, no one at his company has been contacted by the police or the fraud intelligence unit.
Akram defended his company, which took deposits for its miners in January, but has missed all its delivery deadlines so far."

This is exactly why I have stopped wasting time on this thread. It's like watching a slow moving train wreck, a few passengers have the balls to jump off and save themselves with the rest hanging on, hoping the carnage comes to a halt so they can salvage what's left.

I've found the crypto community in general to be pretty lethargic and resigned to take scams, delays and substandard hardware as some kind of acceptable loss. While this attitude persists, Alpha, KNC and their ilk will continue to take money and continue to get away with it.

At some point the chaff and excess waste in the community will burn away and the wind will carry them off, leaving those of us who are dedicated. Could be months, could be years, but it will happen. What a wonderful day that will be.

You can only help people so much, providing them the tools to succeed, before just cutting the rope.

At least the first batch customers will receive 10% off future batches, free shipping, and some strange scheme of theirs. You can't say that they are all bad  Roll Eyes  Wish this would just end already, I'm losing interest in what happens here.

I bailed back in July when they started deleting posts on this forum and the shady activities they were doing on their own forum.  Their phone being disconnected was a big clue.  A company like that had something to hide.  I keep coming back hoping to see others recoup 100% or to see if there is an actual delivery.  Plus idiots like that raj_kapur provide a little entertainment every now and then.

As for what happens now, my guess is that at some point in the not too distant future, Alpha's website will go blank except for a note saying that 'Sorry, the company is bankrupt'.  They will blame someone else for their failures and warn those suing that there is no money left from which to recoup funds.

I hope everyone gets back 100% from these scumbags like I did, but I know that isn't going to happen.  I wasn't smart enough to avoid this to begin with, but I was able to do a charge back early on and get every nickle back.

I hope the Fight Alpha site keeps plugging away at these jackals... posting their pictures, names, and addresses for years to come so that anyone googling these douches will come across it and learn how these fart sniffers scammed people.

I'm talking about you Mohammed Mubasher Akram, Fiaz Malik, Liroy Van, and Eric Gunn!
