What's the point of bitcoin if you have to be so paranoid?
Buying things anonymously like with cash?
I think the origional point of bitcoin was to have an online version of a cash transaction, as opposed to having to use credit cards.

isnt bitcoin based on trust though due to its irreversable nature?

yeah, i was thinking the same thing. i've been searching, but haven't found any sort of bitcoin escrow service yet (at least not any that look reasonably legit). and what about insurance for hosts that get hacked and lose all their coins?

I love this article - I've had a hard time over the years trusting the banks, and others online so much less. I think I will make a very secure wallet on a Raspberry PI and make a copy or two of the SD card and keep them hidden.

I wonder if in the long run the different scams and other issues of having to rely so heavily on trust wil not hamper Bitcoin development  Embarrassed

I mean I believe that Bitcoin as a future (I'm about to invest a little in this adventure) but at this point I'm trying to figure out a way to somewhat smoothens the issues around having to trust.

On a side note, sorry if I massacre english a bit. I'm doing my best since it's not my first language.

Regards.

Trust is always a tricky one, even in real life. It reminds me of a time I tried to buy a camera in a shop in NYC. We agreed on a camera model with a lens and price, then the shopkeeper switched lenses on the camera when my back was turned.

Just wanted to say thanks for this. I am new to this thing, and I was worried about putting a lot of money into bitcoins at the risk of losing my investment or something. Obviously, I have a lot of steps to take security-wise.
