How can I change the ports for the NRS to create a testnet?

it's in start.d/http.ini file

Thanks! Where is the https port configured?

I think https = http + 1 so doesn't require special configuration

Incorrect. U should search for 7875.

Regarding TESTNET:

Please anyone interested start to co-ordinate! I don't have time to manage this at all, I want a united team to fund only.

Would be 100K be sufficient? Too low? Too high?

Decide how you will co-operate and who is gonna receive the money...

What is the testnet for this time?

General testing of features as they come out. Testing anything really.

Why don't we use the testnet we used lastime for testing alias system? There are testcoins which can be issued. Cfb was responsible for the last testnet.

Now kLee responsible for that, he hired specialists, so it's better if he handles all the stuff.

This similar to merge-mining. Someone can charge extra fees for transactions in parallel chains (dedicated to file storage for example).
Quite intresting.

you can issue a file storing company IPO on Nxt asset exhange....generate fees per transaction and pay out dividends....like a regular company

this is crazy!
We'd stay sane. Long way to go to brightest future  Grin

Sure we can! I don't know if it needs more nodes etc.
Does it need administration? By whom?
We need a team dedicated I think..

Node, Desktop, RaspPi, all up to date

Whoever has problems keeping their RPis up to date, you might want to consider using my automatic public node update script. Also, maybe somewhat increase the pullThreshold in the config, so that you're less likely still to end up on a wrong chain.

Add: If you start building a testnet, post here or PM me on how to get involved.

CFB , do we always have to pay 1 coin fee? Even if we only send 1 coin? (Faucet example)

Now yes, later it will be 0.01 NXT (maybe 0.0001 NXT if Nxt price rises too much).

Ok, I have one testnet server setup at : https://162.243.81.243:6875/

NXT VPS Server Donations can be sent here: 6044921191674841550
At the end of each month I will donate some of them back to the community.
This is separate from my main wallet so you can keep track of them. I will keep them in there and only use them for hosting.

War chest update

1. I have received several PMs with offers to help set up public nodes
2. Due to the very high volume of posts, I have not been able to check through every one looking for most suitable/deserving member to disburse the funds.
3. We have another 260K in the fund available for immediate disbursement. So, here's my plan.

Anyone who has a history of setting up nodes and who have a specific plan of action, please post your requirements here and follow up with a PM to me. I'll disburse funds to all legit requests asap.

Conditions:

1. You must describe your specific plan and how much Nxt you need to implement the plan.
Eg. I need xx Nxt to set up nn Nodes in these locations by this date.

2. You have to report back to the community after you've implemented your plan.

Thanks.

I have currently one node setup, and I can setup another 10 nodes in Europe and 10 nodes in South America by the end of 26/December. I would need 1000 NXT per node per month. I can update the software version in these nodes every day if necessary.

I have received a donation and setup 10 nodes in Latin America. I hope his helps the community, am ready to add more nodes if desired. Smiley

anyone can make a guide on HOW rent and set up a VPS for newbies?

Step 1) Sign up for digitalocean.com (skip to Step 4 if you already have a VPS hosting account from any other provider running Debian 7, 64-bit).
Short guide on how to choose a VPS host.

snip

You need to update the dropbox link in your guide. It points to 0.4.5 still

Certainly! I may be more useful in this as NXT grows since I still have a full time job.....hopefully not for long Wink
