about to sell 50% of my NXT back into BTC. NXT is crashing hard from these attacks and sudden price rise! Not to mention there are at least 70 people with around 13 MILLION NXT who have made 6000% profit. Yep, I would be tempted also.
You gotta wonder about people making such a statement. Who in their right mind makes that before selling instead of after?

Now is a good time to buy in, the price went down, due to a big stakeholder cashing out!
Still too high imo, but I bought a few anyways. Looking to buy more lower. There's also a 1.8M sell order at .0001. Admirable, but still too high. Drop it down lower friend. Distribute that wealth. You prolly only paid .04 BTC for it, don't be greedy .

Correction - 400-500,000% from original approx cost per coin at .000000021BTC. EDIT: And that's only BTC return. BTC at the time was worth 6-7 less.. So if you want to hear USD/fiat return... you're talking 2,400,000-3,000,000%. EDIT2: I must say, that's on a per coin basis. Of course, they're not gonna be able to sell all those coins like at that rate, but it should give you an idea.

Does anyone else think this might have been a friendly DDoS?
It caused Cfb to tighten up the software and it caused us to strengthen the network with an explosion of new nodes and many more in the works. If someone really wanted to embarrass Nxt, they could have waited until we were out of alpha stage and they could have hit us with a much stronger attack. If it's malicious, why bring it on early and easy? It has done us no harm and quite a bit of good.

Agreed; honestly wouldn't mind another round before Jan 3 and help us see how much better we are

I think your analysis of how it was on net helpful is accurate but i doubt it was intended to be helpful. probably just an amateur.

I was running the software just fine, but today after rebooting I am getting the error "java.lang.NullPointerException" on the localhost page. What happened ?
I think you have to replace blocks.nxt and transactions.nxt files with their .bak earlier copies and restart NXT, see if that helps. He can do it every time but problem will be still comming back... I had the same problem and more permanent help is here: http://nxtcrypto.wikia.com/wiki/Common_problems_and_resolutionsI installed new java and made that two .bat files for right starting and closing java client so i don't get corrupted files error so often as earlier... As for Nxt rate. It went up to fast and to high so it is natural correction. I would wait for moment when down trend would stop. It is not a problem with big Nxt holders. Nearly all cryptocurrencies we being pumped what started with sudden increases in BTC and LTC rates and ends with end of these. So this speculation isn't so much internal as you think... there are many random speculators but also new who know exactly what they do.

That's a nice little machine, but it is limited to one per customer and doesn't ship until Mid Jan. Raspberry Pi Model Bs cost $25 less each, and Newark / Element 14 has 27,000 of them sitting in a warehouse ready to get shipped out the day after somebody places an order. I bought an ODROID< no idea what I'm gonna do, but guess I need to start spending my hypothetical riches sometime

For example if you own the alias Amazon, you can create a payment system so that if users who want to shop at Amazon and pay in Nxt could go to your nxt:amazon and do that. Similarly for ebay, target etc. I'm not sure that Amazon and Ebay will survive the rise of Nxt... well seeing as I own the alias for eBay, and PayPal, and WesternUnion, and Chase, and so on and so on, I hope they at least go out spending big

I'm not one for conspiracy theories. But I thought the same thing the other day. See who's really in this and for what goal

NXT VPS Server Donations can be sent here: 6044921191674841550At the end of each month I will donate some of them back to the community. This is separate from my main wallet so you can keep track of them. I will keep them in there and only use them for hosting.

I'm not one for conspiracy theories. But I thought the same thing the other day. See who's really in this and for what goal You can only saturate the network up to 100%, anything past that, their DDOS power is being wasted. Also, I think they got spooked by how fast NXT was rising, and wanted to suppress it before people started looking into it. Don't forget, once the source code is released, they may find a way to launch an even more powerful attack, so this was at most a recon mission for the attackers. In any case (malicious or not), the DDOS showed us how strong the NXT community is. A few months from now, no one will remember the rollercoaster price right now (something I'm sure all new coins experience), they'll remember that there's a community willing to give up their personal time and money to see NXT succeed!

If they launch a big (bigger/huge) DDOS attack, do we stand a chance?
