Should non vps owners have to add wellknownpeers to the web .xml? thanks Sure. That increase your chances to be on real main blockchain at any moment.

Fees need to be fractions of NxT.
NxTs price isn't going to go up if a transaction fee is several USD.

Skynet is referenced that way a lot.
What we really need to do is get nodes running on tiny powerful always connected to the Internet devices that everyone carries around all day......phones. Shouldn't be to hard on Android devices since they run Java anyway. Anonymous messaging with alias should solve this....search with Alias is already in the android app....i think someone is working on iPad & iPhone app as well. With the Raspberry Pi experience I think it would be wise to be smartphone centric there is a lot of smartphones in the world with great distribution systems called App stores already in place. If we can refine Nxt client to optimally run on smartphones then we can greatly scale the number of nodes in the network. But for smartphones to run as nodes we need to have an amazing social feature for the general public to us on a daily basis.... Anonymous Messaging with alias from your smartphone. There is real demand for this....example bittorrent just launched an anonymous messaging service in alpha a few days ago.We should beat them to the punch....we already have a working android app with Alias search. https://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,797.msg12105.html#msg12105

If i'm correct Anonymous messaging is planned to be launched in a matter of weeks. There's a guy running the current android app on his nexus 7 tablet...i already asked his feedback regarding battery drain...should have his reply soon.

Feature request for te future:
Ability to write a transaction to the blockchain that the presence of would prevent transfer of funds from your account until you write another transaction later to the blockchain that would allow 'unlocking'
Seems like this wouldn't be impossible

I assume you mean to make both transactions from account not being locked/unlocked. How would the network know whether you own the account you're trying to lock without compromising security? I think this feature would require a complete rewrite

Just got feedback on the current android app with Alias seach: Nexus 7 tablet Regarding battery drain....No, absolutely. The application will not forge or mine simply allows a quick view of the balance of the accounts. Out an agenda and other things. Is not persistent nor generates notifications. I like to see the balance of my accounts. Not need the master password, the account number only.@CFB ....is the above Nxt node set-up helping the network in anyway?

EDIT: About the battery life:
A full client would need to be constantly uploading and downloading data whether it's forging or not. This will not only keep the CPU awake most of the time but also have the radio online 24/7.
It may not be as bad as making a phone call but not far from it either.

CfB, a new topic for your consideration. Is there a way to mod the next version of the NXT client/server software (0.4.8?) to identify whether on not it is running on a Raspberry Pi and perhaps even put out some sort of visual designator in the peer field of the client so you can tell how many Raspberry Pis are running in the wild? Such info could be of great and growing interest in the future, perhaps even convincing the bad guys to give up DDoS when they see for themselves that NXT can deploy more nodes for $40 each than they can to attack. Check this article and think about it. If NXT is running on an ARMv6, it's running on a Pi. Perhaps a nice raspberry colored dot could be used to show this? http://htpcbuild.com/hardware/standalone-htpc-build/raspberry-pi-htpc/raspberry-pi-codec-license-install/I'm adding a special parameter to identify Raspberry Pis.

so talk time would be a good indicator of how long the battery would last running the full client. EDIT: I don;t think this battery thing would be a problem on the new 64 bit -- iPad air or recently released tablets.

That could be feasible. Tablets have enormous batteries these days and low power cores on the side of main CPU for simple tasks. Compared to tablet's screen nxt is probably not very power-hungry

Using portforward, a dyn DNS service and updating hallmark and address in the config on every IP change should work... Inconvenient, but doable.
there is no need to update hallmark and address on every ip change, you generate hallmark against a domain, you put domain as myaddress and that hallmark into config, that's all. I changed my domain NS to afraid.org, and then add second domain. However, I need to fill the IP address, but the IP address is dynamic. So I'm wondering I misunderstand something. I also downloaded the client for DDNS, but don't know how to use it. The simple logic I think is, the client detect the IP every for example 5 minutes, and then update it to afraid database, so the associated secondary domain name will be directed to my local real dyanamic IP address.

I assume you mean to make both transactions from account not being locked/unlocked. How would the network know whether you own the account you're trying to lock without compromising security? I think this feature would require a complete rewrite Yes, would be fairly complex, maybe a hash of a second passphrase with something as the locking mechanism, and would be unlocked by hashing the second passphrase with the private key. But this seems to imply a PKI type setup and Im not sure that curve/sha256 would do the trick or not. But something along those lines would be EXTREMELY USEFUL. But I may just be smart enough here to prove how dumb I am... Im no dev/coder.
