Just wanted to let everyone know that my node has been running since:

And I only stopped it to update to 0.5.5.

We should have at least some more threads like this:

There is one guy who writes his Phd about some Nxt app... There can be many thesis where you programm some Nxt app/add-on..., but I would like to get to the enomical/ecological areas too. There might be serious works based on the PoS, on Nxt, how it could change the world

I have an idea that will let pretty much anybody contribute to NXT, but it will require someone to manage a bug tracking system. Not sure what the best bug tracking system is nowadays, but if anybody is familiar enough with it to set one up, that would be fantastic.

This way, people can report API bugs, usability bugs and everything in between.

I tried to find out some info about emunie, but pretty much failed

They are in some sort of beta test, but it is closed to new testers, no way to try anything

Their wiki is down, no whitepaper, no source code. The feature set appears to have a lot in common with NXT feature set.

What I did find out. It is written in Java (I think). It is being developed by one person (I think). It is designed to be like an electronic fiat, meaning that as more money comes into emunie, more emunie is issued. Some "central bank" authority algorithmically (arbitrarily?) decides what the right equilibrium price is and changes the emunie supply to reach that price.

It also seems to be a LOT more complicated than NXT. Just using a block-tree instead of a blockchain makes my brain hurt imagining all the evil bob scenarios ricot could come up with to game the emunie system. In my experience, such a complicated design will only work when there is significant software engineering team behind it. Not sure a single person can get all the bugs out, especially when they are having a mini-tantrum and cancelling the emunie IPO?

emunie community is about 10% the size of NXT

However, the emunie client does have some nice screenshots.

The above is mostly deduction on my part as I could not find anywhere that had an actual explanation of how exactly emunies are issued, hatched, whatever. It's total dependence on a single stressed out developer also makes me a bit uneasy.

I am pretty sure emunie has some decent tech behind it, but unlike NXT, it is always being delayed. This is common with complex software projects. With NXT there has been only one delay I am aware of and that was delaying the TF due to the mess the Ddos attacks made.
