I think we need to open some threads based on functionality instead of another thread when everything stays in the same place which  is the same as this original thread.
We should have at least some more threads like this:

1. NXT full feature clients - progress tracking thread here https://asktom.cf/index.php?topic=412138.0

2. NXT security and user interface improvement - progress tracking thread rickyjames will take care of it

3. NXT arbitrary message and mobile application - progress tracking thread someone should open one now

There threads will run parallel with the main thread here and the NXT source  code report here https://asktom.cf/index.php?topic=397183.0

This will at least bring some organization to grass-root development we have here.

Someone should do the same for other threads and keep them updated. The updates should be a decentralized effort by everyone. Aslo remember to bookmark all the parallel threads.

I know there are a lot of people following this thread who would like to contribute, but with it being so technical, not sure of how they can.

I have an idea that will let pretty much anybody contribute to NXT, but it will require someone to manage a bug tracking system. Not sure what the best bug tracking system is nowadays, but if anybody is familiar enough with it to set one up, that would be fantastic.

This way, people can report API bugs, usability bugs and everything in between.

A friend of mine has used http://www.redmine.org/ before. I could have it up and running later today, hosting isn't an issue. Not sure what I should use for a domain.

I agree 100% about this... these little games, sweepstakes, ask BCTnext a question, etc are very gimmicky n completely unnecessary to promote a supposed "next generation" crypto.

we have no "working" product yet... so the only thing a new user has to base his decision on whether or not to use n adopt nxt is forum post like here...our community posts here n future promises of what nxt can do is what helps new users  n investors  put money n faith into nxt.

 I propose we leave out these little gimmicks n games n focus on nxt development related materials so new users n investors can have faith in putting their money into nxt.

Sometimes I believe people are reading a totally different thread than I am...
Apart from some light heartedness, mostly I see people thinking and working their asses off and showing the products.
This takes time, so yes, "nice" interfaces and ease of use is still weeks/months in the future.
This has been said by more than one dev.

The target group of new users at this moment is not the mainstream user. I'd be horrified if someone actually proposed to try and go to market with the current client.
At this moment it's for people who are interested in the inner workings and not the mainstream user.

However, apart from hard work, sometimes it's nice to have some fun.

Seems he is a known scammer, but it is all third hand, so best if you make your own conclusions. Seems to be very suspicious that the presale was closed based on the reason that trolls took up too much of his time. Huh?

If anybody knows of a serious competitor to NXT, please post about it. Need to know what the competition is up to. At this point, I am putting emunie in the potential competitor category. Until there is an open beta and/or open src, it could all be vaporware for all we know. Has anybody here actually used the beta of emunie?

I have no idea how to use this. Is it any good? Why do we need to pay monthly? I have a bunch of dedicated servers, if there is an open source bug tracker, then someone can install it on one of my servers.

We need open source bug tracker without pesky fees.

Me and CfB already use Jira to track issues in our private repository on Bitbucket. It will be most convenient for me to have all bugs related to the nxt-client package there, where the code is, not to have to go to other websites.

I enabled Jira for our public repository too: https://bitbucket.org/JeanLucPicard/nxt-public/issues and suggest that we start entering bugs and feature requests (such as API requests) there. I allowed anonymous issue submission for now, if spam becomes a problem I will change it to require Bitbucket login.
