I guess that we can solve the "latin issue" only by voting.

The future is NXT is nice, because I already bought that alias a month ago  Grin

My theory on the NXT price rise is it's rising because it's a cryptocurrency not based on the Bitcoin protocol and thus isn't experiencing the issues Bitcoin and it's clones are.

An event like this makes it clear why it's good having a crypto based on a whole different codeset.
Please Mr. whale, one more dump, fill my order!

** Big News **

Nxt (along with Peercoin) will be one of two official currencies at Trekcon Springfield:

http://www.trekconspringfield.com/

We will have access to quite a bit of media as well as tie-ins with Star Trek actors at the event. I will be working with local companies prior to the event to help support Nxt.  More details to come, still working on the logistics.  Here's a video we put out when we added Peercoin:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89YI6_6Aw2E

Yes, that's me in the video. The guys are already lining up interviews with local tv and radio stations, we'll also be able to take part in that promotion. Smiley

** Update **

This isn't a small event, they've rented out a huge space at the expo center. The realistic target is 1500+:

I am proposing that once wesley's client is finished it should be the standard client for every new Nxt release!

It looks brilliant, wesley you did it.  Shocked Smiley

this is much more interesting than it seems at first. having private data sections within code would solve many
problems, e.g. to create real smart software agents and also fully trustless gateways.

vox populi - "voice of the people". Short non-prearranged interview with an ordinary person (e.g. on the street); sometimes shortened to "vox pop".

Vox populi actually makes sense, at least to me.

But I like many suggestions.

Also "Totum maior summa partum."  The whole is greater than the sum of it's parts (because NXT has many features and because it's has a community that works in synergy)

Anyone knows what the dgex investment opportunity is about? They were not very clear. I sent an e-mail but I'm a bit hectic lol Cheesy I have money (not BTC/NXT though but guess it can be sorted) but ofc need so much more information before deciding anything.

Thanks

If it's anything like the *real* Roman voting system, this means most people would have a useless vote, the fatcats would always win, and you would have to keep buying votes to get things done  Grin

Roman "democracy" was a total and utter sham.

Users of the javascript client will get a JSON notification when the deadline changes. Client developers using the Java API directly can register a listener to receive such notifications, just like it is done in User.java:

Do you mean you will add some sort of HTML5 push notification support to the browser? That would be great!

http://html5hacks.com/blog/2013/04/21/push-notifications-to-the-browser-with-server-sent-events/
I mean, the way the current javascript client is doing it, whatever this technology is called. I didn't plan to touch that part myself, I am not familiar with HTML5 push.

How does your client currently work, only by making javascript calls to the http api? Is it just a bunch of html and javascript files that need to be in a directory served by jetty? Because I am considering switching to embedding jetty in 0.8 or later, but of course need to plan how to accommodate your client.

Made me laugh, as I have been talking with James about a "Federation of Gateways" today.

www.nxtclient.org

It's not finished yet. I didn't put the links in it because I don't know how we will promote them, which is really open source and who's client gets a separate homepage.

If you have any ideas or suggestions for this site: PM me or write here.

I'm no pro web designer but donations are welcome.

Direct links would be a huge help right now.  As I'm walking exchanges through Nxt, this allows them to play with the different options.

I will think about it tonight and will improve it. Thanks.

During this process of implementing fractional NXT in the code, would it be possible to add support of higher resolution than .01 NXT? I realize this could be very difficult as it is stored as integer * 100, but I see many applications that could use higher precision. For example a lot of altcoins are worth a small fraction of NXT and as it is now, we need to create bundles of these so that .01 NXT wont create giant price swings.
Sorry, can't do that now. This would require much more fundamental changes, new block and transaction versions at the least.

Hmmm....

I remember somebody raised this as a possibility last week, but was booed off the stage and told to work on stuff that is more near term.

Oh, that was me Smiley

So, I am not so crazy to believe that we can get fully trustless gateways and even automated DACs that can do cross chain operations. I wish you were there last week. I guess I should have reiterated that I got the idea about indistinguishability obsfucators from Vitalik butern's reddit page. I'm not smart enough to understand the maths, but I am smart enough to recognize the potentials of new algos.

Anyway, I hope nobody will get upset if I suggest that the NXT VM team make sure that they design things so DACs that do crosschain, offchain operations and just generally external to NXT actions are possible.

My point with the NXTplugins is that by putting outputs of plugins into the blockchain in a way that doesnt require trust, we can expand NXT to incorporate whatever we can design the NXTplugins to do properly. My guess is that with a constrained set of operations and strict requirements as to how the NXTplugin is implemented, we can eventually get a secure architecture that allows for submission and verification of thousands of NXTplugins that will all be listed on the NXT plugin store.

By creating the infrastructure that allows easy creation of third party plugins, including validation, source release requirements and whatever else is needed, NXT will indirectly be able to reach ANY market segment that a NXTplugin can be created for.

All of them secured by being in a decentralized NXT blockchain.

Eventually is fine. Not a critical issue, but if you can just keep in mind the desire for added precision when transitioning to .01 precision, that would be great

Así que si alguna vez monedas o algo que vamos a necesitar un eslogan. USD ha In God We Trust.

I hear the people in this topic have decided to switch to a 0.1 Nxt fee?  I've done some math and that would be only be enough to allow use to break even if we had ~50 forgers at a time.  Point is, it's way too low.

Fee structure proposal
0.4% transaction fee
0.1 Nxt per message
30 Nxt per alias registration

Didn't want to clog up this forum with a long post plus it would be really nice if we could start using other forums instead of everything in one place, no matter how loosely related.

Point is, here's the math and reasoning to back this up:
https://forums.nxtcrypto.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=785

Please go comment and let me know what you think about these numbers!
