NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information

Just to let you guys know that we now have a 3rd "use case" for the AT prototype which is a "Crowdfunding Agent" (see http://ciyam.org/nxt for the AT docs).

So what does it do?

Basically it means you won't need to use a "website" like Kickstarter or the like at all - you will be just able to create an AT for your project then people will be able to send funds to it which will be refunded if it doesn't meet its funding target by the target time.

Of course it doesn't give you any guarantees about the project itself (and I don't think most "crowd funding" websites do either) but it absolutely guarantees the account where the funds will go if the target is met as well as the refunding if the target isn't met.

One more middle-man gone!

I spoke to John over at Songs of Love last night for a bit, great conversation. We're still shooting for that $10k mark, even if we don't make it, we'll still be a part of the fund raiser in LA.  Bottom line, there will be a lot of press there and a perfect opportunity to grab quite a bit of footage for future promotional material for Nxt. I'm looking this week into the possibility of heading that heading that way with Matt Nikel.  Matt and I did a solid job in Miami at the Bitcoin Conference, I feel we would get similar results. We would hit every newspaper, every tv station etc...  

I'm also working with John this week on some type of joint press release about Nxt's involvement to help the children.  As soon as that information comes my way, I'll also forward it to the marketing department.

Let's keep the charity drive going!

It's not only Nextcoin.org - also our friend Tai Zen uses the word "Nextcoin" in his great videos. It's a fundamental "problem" since the beginning.

Nxt is the total infrastucture/ecosystem

Nxt(coin) (pronounced Next(coin)) can be used to describe the tokens that are used by that ecosystem. These tokens are tradeable.

I'd rather put my energy in developing things than in nomenclature

+1 on this.  btc38 is a BIG DEAL in China.  It would be as big as getting on Cryptsy.  Access the link in Chrome for automatic English translation.

TestNXT are NXT on the testnet of our asset exchange. This has nothing to do with your real nxt account.

Two things I forgot to mention in the change log:

If you are using Tor, now the tor socks proxy address and port need to be specified on the java command line:
java -DsocksProxyHost=localhost -DsocksProxyPort=9050 -Xmx1024M -cp nxt.jar:lib/*:conf nxt.Nxt
and obviously set nxt.shareMyAddress=false in nxt.properties

The default database connection pool size is set to 10. I also print out debug messages with the maximum number of simultaneous database connections observed at runtime, like:
DEBUG: Database connection pool current size: 3
In the unlikely case you see this reaching 10, for a very busy public node, consider increasing the nxt.maxDbConnections setting.
