Question to the pro's here:
How much nxt do I reasonably need for forging? I am a bit confused. My estimated block generation time always changes with every new block...
You need only 1 NXT to forge and it becomes active to forge after being unlocked and online for 24 hours = 1440 minutes. The less NXT you have, the less often you will forge a block. Blocks are forged once a minute and there are 525,600 minutes in a year. With a billion NXT in circulation, if everybody owned an identical 1,000,000,000 / 525,600 = 1900 or so NXT in their account, and they all had their accounts always unlocked for a year to try and forge, they would each eventually be selected to forge one block per year on average. In reality, some accounts obviously have more than 1900 NXT in them, some less, and not everybody has their account unlocked to forge at the same time. Ratio accordingly with reasonable estimates to see where you really stand once the time bouncing settles down. Welcome to the realization that NXT forging is not a quick road to riches like Bitcoin mining is supposed to be. |
