How can a transfer be marked complete when the recepients never recieved

This is a coainbase wallet.    Sent to my miltibit acoount over 24 hours ago.    Trannsactions went from pending to complete as expected.

But the receiving address never received the bit coins?

Post the transaction ID or the receiving address so we can take a look. The bitcoins are received when the transaction is added to the block chain. If the transaction is there then something is wrong with the receiver or perhaps you sent it to the wrong address.

Multibit sometimes "forgets" transactions. Go for Tools -> Reset Blockchain and Transactions.
