you dont have to, 1.3 just contains checkpoints and some added graphics

Yes, many people are stuck without their coins, and not just Topcoin...  any coins on CR.  Their security was breached and some coins were lost, but from what I understand, they are going to work on getting everyones stuff back.  We will just have to keep an eye on their twitter for any details going forward.

So to my question; why?

Just for my own good, is there something here that I should know about? I just mine based on what others tell me (don't have quite the same "instinct/luck" others seem to have)  Just looking for some info.

Hey lacrossewacker, welcome to the thread, and to the TOP community

Here are some quick notes about TopCoin for you:

• Descendant of Litecoin, created on 2/2/14 with a rapid distribution design: block rewards started out at 1mil TOP per block, and halved every 2 days until rewards reached 1 TOP per block (current reward)
• Zero pre-mine, zero inflation
• Green, in the sense that because mining rewards are 1 coin per block, we pretty much just have members of the community supporting - not huge amounts of hashing power
• Steadily building purpose for the coin: many games, full casino, crowd-funding efforts, merchants, a TOP marketplace for the community to buy/sell goods, and more to come...
• Devs/leads actively listen to the community and build TOP around their requests: Topcoin belongs to the community
• Topdude, creator of Topcoin is consistently buying millions of TOP on his own to continue to support bounties, giveaways, faucets, etc.
• Community members have stepped up and have taken roles to help the coin, and we have formed a Topcoin Army to develop strategy and plans for the future
• Those plans will be posted to our reddit page in a wiki, and will be transparent and open to discussion/changes
• Because of the large amount of coins that have been mined, the price for TOP has remained cheap and given folks another opportunity to "get in at the ground level": currently 1 to 2 satoshi, but as we continue to build steam, this opportunity may dry up fast
• Currently have a bounty out for a multipool that will pay out in TOP: it will mine the most profitable coins and automatically build your stash of TOP!
