I'm not a Mac user, but from what I understand you have to find the Mintcoin folder and delete everything in it EXCEPT THE WALLET.DAT FILE...make a copy of the wallet.dat just in case. Then do a complete new instal of the new wallet 1.7 or 1.8.

By doing the complete new instal, you will be downloading the entire blockchain again nad this should fix all the problems.

When do you updated the wallet? just recently?

is you do so, you must backup first  home  Library/Application\ Support/MintCoin/wallet.dat

Then erase everithing but waller.dat from Library/Application\ Support/MintCoin/

and wait a bit until the blockchain gets downloaded again, Stormia wrote a better guide some post earlier.

If any problem, ask

I think it might be because there are still people on the older versions of the wallet, which was PoW/PoS, and that is somehow disrupting the network in someway (this is just a suspicion of mine, I have no idea if that is even possible). I am still seeing this happen on my v1.7 wallet from time to time as well, even though I re-downloaded the entire blockchain (or at least I think I did), but it hasn't affected my ability to mint and send/receive transactions.

Are you sure this is necessary? I'm pretty sure Kergecoin said the .conf file is included in the new wallet.

My wallet works fine. What I did was save my wallet.dat, then I deleted EVERY Mintcoin file on my computer like it never existed.

-I then downloaded the new wallet.
-I opened it until it showed the wallet, then immediately closed it.
-then I replaced the wallet.dat with my saved wallet.dat and downloaded the new blockchain.  See post below.

If you are updating now you will have to do a clean install. That means backup your wallet.dat to a safe location, and delete everything mintcoin. When you get the new wallet, place your back up in the appdata folder and launch.

There is a .conf file in the new wallet, don't use unofficial sources for your wallet : http://mintcoin.cc/download-wallet/

Edit: To find your appdata folder- Click Windows button on left bottom of screen and put this in search box: %APPDATA%/MintCoin

Notes- You will find Mintcoin files in your download folder and your appdata folder. If you delete everything EXCEPT wallet.dat you will be able to do a clean install.

-Future versions shouldn't require these extra steps. This is a result of going from hybrid PoW\PoS to pure PoS

NEW WALLET HAS COIN CONTROL!

In wallet choose settings-->options-->display-->mark "display coin control features"

Click OK. You will see CCF on Send tab now.

If you want to send only the newest coins do the following:

1. Open "inputs"
2. Choose list mode
3. Click on conformations twice to sort by lowest amount of conformations first.
4. Select enough adresses to fulfill your required amount.
5. Click OK
6. Use sending tab as usual.

Ill give it a go and make short video about this feature soon.

Thanks Kergecoin!

If you would like, thank Kergecoin with Mint-  MrXW1RKLDe8VMNwTwLwSiKuATN5M74EL85

Ok - I was having problems for the last couple of days with 1.7 - The wallet would be in sync (current date/time/blocks), and then suddenly it would say that it was syncing, with ~4k to ~8k blocks to go... even though the date/time would be the current date/time. Like it had four to eight thousand blocks to sync over the last minute or so.

When I took this screenshot, it was indeed today at 12:22 pm, yet ~6000 blocks out of sync, even though it reported that it was synced just moments earlier - and transactions were almost instantaneous, so I would not agree that it was really out of sync at all:

First thing I did was to try deleting the peers.dat file, hoping there was an issue with a peer or two. It synced up, but within a couple of minutes, it happened again.

Next thing I did was to remove all of the addnodes from the .conf file, to more aggressively try to weed out the possibility of a "bad peer". Same thing happened.

So I deleted the /users/yadayada/appdata/roaming/mintcoin dir, and re-downloaded the entire blockchain which took hours (which confuses me, because I'm using broadband, and I haven't had a problem with my other wallets - but that's a separate issue for another time).

It happened again for a very brief period, but as I type this, it has managed to stay synced for a couple of hours. Hopefully it has been solved.

My dilemma is I don't know if I want to take the chance on 1.8 yet or not. It depends on whether this is will be the "final" update re:Heartbleed issue. If not - I'd rather wait until that.

So, short question: Is there anything further that will need to be done to resolve any critical issues? Or should I go ahead and update?

Secondarily - does anyone have any ideas what might cause the issue I was describing with the sudden 4 or 5 thousand block out-of-sync issue? (Again - when it said this - it listed the correct time/date). Also, do I need to re-dl the whole blockchain again? (Man - I hope not! lol!)

Thanks.

1.7 on Mavericks OSX

If you're still having problems, you can go into the "Debug Console" and type in repairwallet if that does not work use salvagewallet

This has worked for some users according to the subreddit posts.

Hey! Prelude has USD and Mint in the same place: https://prelude.io/
I think Vault of Satoshi will have MINT markets soon. I don't see Australia listed as one of the countries that they don't allow verification in, so that is good news.

Hi!

Anyone who is having sync jumpback. Please do the following:

1. Go to your roaming folder and delete everything but the wallet.dat.
2. Download version 1.8. Only this version has the newest checkpoints!
3. Add official mintcoin.conf file to roaming/mintcoin folder
4. Open a beer and let the wallet sync.  Cheesy

--------------------------

Heres 1.8 update for Mac-OSx wallet. It is not mandatory, but would be nice if you update to it. 1.8 OSx wallet includes:

- newest checkpoints
- QR support (added because Mintcoin has android wallet incoming. QR code support becomes important)
Download link until official link is updated:

The sync jumps are related with pre-1.7 clients. Those are rejecting blocks of the main network and continuing with their own chain. It is harmless to 1.7+ users, but distracting.

Anyone has an estimate on number of pre-1.7 nodes out there?

What if on next version, we reject connections with 1.6 and below? 1.6 and below would have their own cluster (currently 1.7+ nodes impose a limit on them), would have difficulty connecting to other nodes (as everyone moves to 1.9), and will eventually see that they need to download the new version.

I guess this is possible as peers announce their protocol version and client version on connection establishment. But I cannot foresee the effects of removing 1.7+ nodes from 1.6 network and let them roam freely with their blockchain.

it is better to NOT pump the price up higher and beyond MINT's infrastructure can support. We need to keep adding merchants and keep adding services. If the price is low right now it is not necessarily bad. The good thing I see is that MINT has already endured a bear market, and is now basically "flat-lining" and establishing a Solid Floor. Once the momentum starts to turn to the upside, it could really take off again. There really is very little holding MINT down right now. Just be glad Mintcoin is very undervalued right now, and take the time to establish life-long positions. This is the time to be telling your friends and family, to get a good hold in early. I am beginning to sense that the majority of the Mintcoin holders now are long-term investors and that it is only up from here, but will still take time. Mintcoin is likely to be a coin for more mature, calculating investor types.

My gut feel is that there will be a point in the future where MINT will explode in price. That point in time is not far from now and it won't go down from that point. The value will eventually catch up with the infrastructure and this will cause the price to skyrocket.

This 100%.

Just look at the last few pages to see all Mint has going for itself.

-All security concerns were immediately addressed.
-Coin control added
-QR support added
-Android wallet on the way
-Vault of Satoshi on the way
-Foundation started
-20% Annual gain on coins held, minted at 20 day intervals

I only wish I had more cash to invest, Mint is definitely set to EXPLODE

just letting people no that i have just updated from 1.7 to 1.8 without any problems so far. 1.7 kept jumping out of sync for me, so far 1.8 has not jumped out of sync and synced up pretty fast idk y Smiley
when i installed 1.7 i done a clean install like everyone said to do. with 1.8 i only replaced the mintcoin.conf file in %appdata% and is working really well, i have not yet received pos or minted coins on 1.8 yet as ive only been getting minted coins every couple of days with other wallets so we shall wait a couple days and see how it goes

Hey! Prelude has USD and Mint in the same place: https://prelude.io/
I think Vault of Satoshi will have MINT markets soon. I don't see Australia listed as one of the countries that they don't allow verification in, so that is good news.

okay cool thanks ill check it out  Grin
