Best Alt coin to invest in 2014

Can anyone say which altcoin has lost the least this year, since the basic founding to a currency is to preserve wealth over time or we'd all be keeping food and various commodities we use - but they go off!

Deepcoin can either go two ways: death or moon. Seriously, this is the one to look at for short term profit, it is so undervalued considering it has unique features and a low amount of total coins. The devs are still working on it, and there is still a small community holding and doing everything they can to get the price back up. There are more than a few Sr. and Hero members in Deepcoin, these are influential people who have power. One in particular has a massive data center and a massive mining setup mining DCN. I have no idea what is going to happen to Deepcoin but it'll certainly be interesting.

What features make it a possible unique coin to own usefully ?

I like those except maybe Monero.  Too spendy and risky given all the other top coins.

Anoncoin is extremely cheap at the moment. Good dev-team and steady work for over a year, but low publisity. When the implementation of zerocoin is finished the price is likely to explode.

Hope some of you took my advice to heart twenty pages ago and bought some coins on the lowpoint. ANC is now one week away from implementation of testnet with zerocoin and the expectations has already taken the price above 1 $.

You can hardly avoid random shitcoin sockpuppets screaming "200 k sat soon!" in the forum these days. Well, there you have it, 200 k sat appreciation even before the zerocoin testnet is launched. One can only speculate what the price will be when the main hardfork is implemented in about a month.

What makes it different than all the other "charity" coins which ended up doing nothing more than making investors lose money? (h2oCoin and a few others come to mind)

At the moment via/xch and neos are really cheap. I guess you need some patience with these coins but I'm stocking up now.
