You are likely better off withdrawing in BCH due to the size of your account.  We charge a flat fee on BTC withdrawals ranging from 0.0001 and up.  BCH is like 0.001 and way cheaper in current price talk.

We are working to restore services and some updates so everyone will know how we handle things of this nature (Terms of Services, aka Terms of Steve.)

I'll be sure to shoot you a message when we turn trading back on... I'm just nervous to turn trading back on with empty books and then people are really getting hosed.

I almost think it would be best to wait for the account to be applied to the new system, turned on entirely and then it would have normal books to trade from.

I guess another option is we could put BTC up at a fair price and let folks trade, but ick... I need to make at least 5-10%, seems greasy to force yall to trade into me basically.

 The Gapcoin wallet is being a bitch apparently... no it's been broken for years, but we had it fixed briefly this year.  I'm sure everything is fine there, just got to get it synced.

I'm communicated with the Gapcoin developer team before for peers and they have been wonderful.

We will get around to this... IF you are one of our Gapcoin customer and need your shit right away, contact me and we will work something out.

Another payment will likely come from selling assets next week.  The plan is to liquidate and see which assets have equity. It should only take one sale, but selling stuff takes time (unless torch selling is deemed responsible and the items are listed on eBay @ $1, which is totally possible for some items.)


The plan going forward is to get the books right, then my partner + a few other fellas handle the exchange code in Github (patch a few bugs we noticed from closing down), then I'll use their Github code and install the wallet secrets on my own for the live version.

I think we will be back online.

There is still a lot of training to be done on my end.  I play on keeping the partner involved with the company and growing / training a few other folks.

Gapcoin is still in a fucked up state.  It's about the least of my worries atm.

The banner could have a link to a page that has the summary of the incident, or it could be a link to the post you made in this thread about the incident.

I'm hoping to have all this straightened out and good this month/November.  I really don't want ask the partner to do additional work right now.  I only have access to change the message on the markets page and the status page.  Anyone going past the homepage sees it, and deposits are turned off.  We have had ~100 registrations since pulling the plug and they will be there when/if we get back + they can't deposit.

No one is going to lose here.  

We intend to come back online when we are confident in the system.  

If it goes much longer than November, I'll do all those suggestions.  I want to keep this as safe and internal as possible, but keeping people aware of what is going on and potentially how we are going to go forward.

Thanks for the input.  A few others suggested this as well.  Accounts can still be created as well at the moment.  Affiliates can still generate sign-ups.

In July of this year it seems that a wallet "fix" actually inflated a few user balances.

We have the wallet running now, but we are auditing user balances and bringing them back into the correct realm.

Fucking Gap has definitely given us hell.

Only one account doesn't have enough GAP to make their account right, and naturally, it's our company's account... lol, which is totally the best-case scenario.

Should be back up today and balanced for GAP users.

EDIT:  GAP is back online, and the books are above water.  Users should absolutely withdrawal because this coin is getting scratched even if we do restart the exchange! lol <3


Personal property is being liquidated by the partner to bring the BTC balance back to even... so process being made there.

Other arrangements are being explored in the hopes of getting everything back above water as soon as possible.

I have finally got around to withdrawing my dust, and as you mentioned to me earlier that it would be favorable for me to convert my BTC to BCH first, I went to do that but trading of this pair seems to have been disabled.

You totally can withdraw directly.

I froze everything when we noticed there was unusual accounting.

The fear is that perhaps trading is resulting in a bug creating fake coins on the site or a number of other scary possibilities.

Once that wasn't a huge concern, we turned on withdrawals while we worked stuff out.

We did find a tiny bug, that has been patched, but needs solid testing.

However, the biggest bug wasn't a bug at all, but a horrible decision by my partner.  


That being said: the plan as of right now is to finish off building our internal audits and alert tools, double checking our hot/cold sweeping stuff, and we are going to reopen deposits/trading.

There also maybe some new tweeks to the website as well (TOS, emails required and such).

The website will be opening upside down... I think it's better to generate income and make that right, rather that float dead here in the water.  I'll provide a Bitcoin address when we open and the amount of BTC that it needs to be right side up from these events... I suspect we have it paid back very fast.

People can choose to do business with us or not... but generating .08 BTC isn't a big deal and most those customers are 2019-2022... We will cover.  If a transaction is "caught hanging," it will be filled as soon as other Bitcoins are available.  We haven't had a single withdrawal from our site in 3 days now, and everyone is honored.

So I don't know how this is going to turn out either, books may fill back up over night or we might be back in 2019 and on an uphill fight.

My focus is treating our customers the way I would want to be treated... I think others have valued that through this process as well.

I’ve watched plenty of exchanges go down -- although not as many as more senior crypto geeks here! The single most noticeable thing across the board has been the disingenuousness of communications – what ordinary folks call bullshit.

Conversely, the honest style of comms in this case has stood out.

And the correct OPSEC tactic is, of course, to put a small amount of capital back on, and see how things go. I’ll be ready to put a small amount back on the moment the doors are opened.

While you're at it check if your API protocol is working as it should. It may just be me but I tried it months ago and failed to get my signed messages accepted. I also couldn't reproduce the example that existed in the docs no matter what I did
