This Argentinian team is costing me money and I think a lot us too. I had another acca and lost it because of the draw match. Bookies are making good money of them.

Seriously, in the first match they lost, other day Brazil settled with a draw and yesterday Argentina settled with a draw.

The problem is that in Copa America almost all teams progress to knockout rounds. Only teams that that are finishing competition are last placed teams plus worst one of the 3rd placed teams. This opens up a lot of space to calculate or even keep your best players fresh for the knockout stages.

Granted, I don't think that is the case with Argentina, they have just lost all the confidence and disregarded most of the of the modern football principals. I saw a picture on the twitter when Messi has a ball around center of the pitch, Argentina needs a goal and only one player is joining him on the opposition half, WTF

May be they thought Messi is enough to win a match and the rest do not need to support him.

I am not watching any of the matches because of the time zone difference but looking at the scores and reading news I can tell team Argentina is not in good shape. I will avoid picking them for next few matches.

Football is always about the team no single player or a couple of them make a large difference if the team are not on the same league. It's not the lack of talent that's making the Argentine team poor. It's their rubbish politics in and out of Football. They needed a lesson and I hope this Copa tournament would be the one.

Argentina played badly and only got a draw against Paraguay, what's with Argentina? he has a lot of players with very good quality, is this a coach factor and strategy? or is this a factor in not being compact with Argentine players?

It's a combination of bad things happening at the same time:

- An AFA (argentina football association) that's a complete disaster who they decided to appoint as manager the first guy they saw walking in the AFA headquarters (Scaloni) instead of going after Pochettino (Spurs) or Simeone (Atletico Madrid).
- A manager who has as much experience managing a NT (or a club) as my dog. That sub last night (Di María in - Lautaro out, right when Argentina were dominating the game) really showed his inexperience.
- Players who, psychologically, seem to struggle to play at a decent level with the NT (Otamendi, Messi, Di maria, Lo Celso, Armani, etc).
- Players who don't have the level to play in the NT (Matias Suarez, Pereyra, Tagliafico, Paredes, etc) + this is the first time they're playing together at a competitive level (meaning, there's no chemistry yet)...That's a recipe for disaster.
- A really tense atmosphere behind the scenes because of leaks about the NT formation, players having discrepancies with the manager, pressure from the argentinian press, and other stuff, which might be affecting the entire team mentally.

Take all of that, mix it, and you'll get an argentinian clusterfuck, this has been going on for like a year, since the south american WC qualifiers. That's why I said a few weeks ago:

Honestly, I'll be surprise if they make it to the knockout stages, their recent performances have been awful, with and without Messi.

If I had some bankroll to make some bets, I'd totally go with a Qatar win + O2.5goals next weekend, IF Qatar doesn't try the same tactics they used yesterday (5-3-2).

honestly of today Uruguay don't win by 3 goals or more I would be really disappointed , but hey I have been disappointed many times in this competition 

Japan players aren't experienced , so the whole goal of this participation just to prepare more for the next WC qualifications

any handicap bet on Uruguay looks good IMO up to -2.5 , over 2.5 goals looks nice as well

Uruguay doesn't strike me like a team that goes for heavy wins usually, until their last four or five games, there were privileged to have put four past Ecuador (thanks to the early red card to Ecuador) IMO.

I'll on the other hand be surprised if they score more than 2 goals tonight.

true but as you mentioning their last games were really good , also they are thrilled with their last heavy victory
the main factor of this bet is Japan since they haven't done anything special in their last game except like 2 chances

so I would say any team of the top 4 teams in America can easily beat them with 3 goals difference
but obviously this is a game of chance as well , so can't predict it perfectly

@tomahawk9, you summarized what's going on with Argentina in recent years. Pochetino or Simeone as manager of national team would be perfect choice, but I just don't see any reasons to leave their clubs and start to work with national team. Personally, I think that Marcelo Bielsa would be interesting option for Argentina.
Still, I belive that Argentina will reach next round but there their journey will end. Now they can only dream about winning Copa America trophy.

Now if Peru will win against Brazil and Venezuela knocking out Bolivia which is possible then Brazilian will be out from this stage!!

Argentina’s decline is surprising considering the quality of players they have, I feel they need to sit down and work out their tactics otherwise they risk being dumped out early. Brazil are sorely missing Neymar as their other strikers have failed to step up so far. That exactly is the problem Argentina are over reliant on Messi, and they think that he can single handedly win them the match and hence there was no support for him.

There we go, Uruguay didn't score up to 3 goals, just like I've predicted, they even had to come from behind twice to secure a draw, Although Uruguay's performance weren't bad though but I think Japan indeed earned the draw.

I think Argentina's issue is more than what is shown on the field as @Tomahawk9 had suggested yesterday, The bigger problem is probably AFA, and until there is a change in the system, their results might keep being a disappointment.

I think surprises are happening here more than in the Euro or World Cup.Yesterday Uruguay was not able to win against a Japan side which suffered a heavy defeat in the first game of the tournament.

I will not bet again in this tournament where 1.15 odds have failed two times already one in Brazil vs Venezuela and one in the Uruguay game yesterday.

I saw the Japan highlights and I have to say,,, they played really well, but as did Uruguay. Now thank you for sharing the format of the competition Trofo I had no idea that only last team plus 1 is out of the group stage. No wonder the teams are just playing to draw. They feel maybe 2 draws is better than no points or maybe even 1 win is enough to proceed!

I was thinking Uruguay to win over Japan but I was wrong. I think I need to stop gambling until I see few matches. The prior knowledge about the teams and the record analysis is not helping much. Too many draw matches.

The club season just ended, everyone is tired, they want to go on holidays with their families. Many players are in other places mentally and lacking the needed motivation. Just some of the factors why it is hard to predict the outcome of matches like this.

The quality of Messi is once again not enough for him to carry Argentina to glory. It is not yet over but I really doubt anyone can consider them serious contenders for the 1st place now.

I was waiting for Uruguay win on accumulator ticket for very nice win. I was 100% sure this will be an easy win and it should have been according to the statistics (couldn't watch the match). Good thing I decided to cover myself just in case so i placed another bet on Japan x2. This way I at least covered my initial stake and ended the day with about 20% profit. If Uruguay has won I would have ended up with more than 400% profit for the day. Too bad I didn't have more money on account to properly cover the bet.

There was a time when Argentina or Brazil were the ultimate fear for other teams but now it seems other team does not much care about them. The previous glory is fading.

I lost three acca and I was very close in each of them. First one lost because of Argentina lose their first match. The 2nd one lost because Brazil settle with a draw in their 2nd match and the third one because of Argentina LOL

yeah you were right , Japan yesterday wasn't the same team we saw in the last match I'm not sure where they got that confidence from 
yesterday was the best match so far , I really enjoyed it even tho lost my handicap bets on Uruguay but the overs landed ( was expecting 3 or 4 goals but was expecting them from Uruguay alone lol )

Uruguay was kinda unlucky tho missing some huge chances , but overall yeah Japan was really surprising
