What I actually do know is I set up my league on Sleeper last night and it’s better than ever. One thing I really wanted them to add (that yahoo once had but wasn’t working last year) was player chats. So anyone on Sleeper who wants to discuss a certain player in real time can do so now. Lovin it.

**My previous draft time suggestion was made to accommodate everyone, but since all of our European friends have dropped out I would like to alter my suggestion yet again: Sunday, September 1st, 9pm Eastern Standard Time (6pm Pacific time.)  I think that would better suit wheelz1200's soccer schedule, and ChibitCTy's suggestion.  If I'm not mistaken, that would be 9am Monday morning for Nutildah (please confirm,) which he had previously stated would be suitable for him.

Woah. I never get good picks. Outside of getting the first pick last year in my league and now first here, so this is a nice change of pace to say the least.

Well looks like we are using Yahoo, which is fine of course, but I wish yall would be open to a little change in this regard. Not beating the topic over the head for no reason, it’s just pretty incredible what Sleeper has done, taken all the best aspects of every major platform and combined them, listen to peoples suggestions etc. If any of you play in other leagues hopefully you’ll get a chance to use it. I think this is year ummm..roughly 20 that I’ve been playing and it’s the kind of platform I use to talk to my best friend about (also a FF freak like me) building but I couldn’t program or code and someone stole my ideas lol. Anyways maybe next year.

It really does help prepare oneself for the draft, in terms of strategy, and then also forces me to pay attention to rankings (ESPN project player rankings can be quite different than Yahoo, I noticed). I even made a spreadsheet for the first time with all the players I want on it. Then of course responding to injuries will be the other big challenge. I'm pumped, let's do this.

Mock drafts certainly help prepare you to kind of get familiar with how each platform ranks guys but I wouldn’t put too much stock in it for strategy because when we get to the actual draft, it won’t run anywhere like it does in your mocks. If you’re doing mocks against live people that’s a little different, than say vs a machine.

I don't think it's a coincidence, the mid picks are hard.  It's also worth noting that the automated mock drafts on Sleeper seem to generate inaccurate results.  I've done a few over the last few days on Sleeper and I often get pretty good players to choose from in the first two or three rounds, but when I try against real people in Yahoo's mock drafts the picks I want are usually taken.

I didn't do any mock drafts last year, and I'm not sure if they really help that much.  I think putting together a list of players you want to take, and focusing on using your higher picks for key positions is the better strategy.  In the past I would priorities RBs for the first two picks just because they can make or break a team.  There are only handful of really special RBs in the league from FF perspective, so getting the best one you can early on is a good strategy. 

But you also have to be willing to break from that strategy if someone really special is available.  For example; last year Tyreek Hill was available so I used my first pick on him because... well, reasons.
