Anybody gonna be watching the UFL this year? Now that I have cable TV, I just might take another stab at trying to convince myself that its interesting. We have about a month to go before the first games of the season kick off. The league still just has 8 teams, lol. Here is the schedule for Week 1:



Last season there were 14 UFL players that made it on to NFL rosters for the 2024 season. But are there any NFL players that are demoting themselves to the UFL? The rosters aren't finalized yet, but most likely there will be at least a few.

I might give it a go, though I just cancelled my YouTube TV account cuz one fuck google but two 80 a month when NFL is not on, can't get cubs games (which I'm boycotting), Bulls suck (who im also boycottinig) so it just made sense.  Outside sports and CNBC which I watched to keep up with my trade and cuz the anchors are fckn hot..oh I love me some julia boorstin, morgan brennan, sara eisen,seema, and my current #1 Courtney Reagan (couple other advisors i worked with at big firm would keep our running rankings..we're pigs but it made the day better seeing some beauties while markets tanked or whatever)  I think there's alternatives (I do mean outside illegal streaming/torrents)..I might try to give it a go.  I am encouraged by this - https://www.theufl.com/news/ufl-to-nfl-numbers-continue-to-make-a-significant-impact-in-the-nfl.  Actually if it's on fox thats basic cable right, so by law those channels in the US must be made available.  I have the LG C1 , I THINK they have a built in antenna to broadcast them but if not, ordering after I check here in a sec.   ( FYI to any buying TVs, LG was first to OLED but my god the OS is soooo bad.  How does a $3k tv have a shit OS?!

Top tier college programs would wax these teams as I've said many times before but if they are going to be sending a few guys to the league and that keeps up ( I suspect it will as it is now probably surpassed the Canadian league as the most legit #2.  I wouldn't be shocked if the NFL made it a minor league in some sort of way some day.  It's certainly better than just being on a practice squad.  I'll try to stay engaged if you do, I know Hueristic will watch a little prob, so theres us 3 lol.

I'm freeloading off my brother's YTTV at the moment, and he's got the whole sports package.  I'll probably tune into a game or two to play on the side monitor when I'm working on project.  But honestly I can't see myself sitting down on the couch just to spend two hours watching a UFL game.  I can't even bring myself to do that with an NFL game these days, unless it's also a social even with family and friends.

The use gps which I don’t think anyone else does or gps plus something else, I dunno I just know a buddy & I who lived in Chi together & with I left the Chi & moved a few hours away we found out you can only say you’re “traveling” for so long lol.  I hate google so much, feels good not paying them (as I use Google search engine inside my Fox browser, which absolutely fn blows.

38% of the league is focused in Texas!?!?  The remainder of the league is east of the Mississippi.  I'm not surprised that they've shunned the west; fewer densely populated television markets, and spring isn't exactly stay-home-and-watch-tv season for the western US.  Doesn't it seem like that be true for Texas as well?  For that reason alone I would think that a concentration on the North East and northern Mid West would be more practical.  When I first saw the roster of teams I assumed that the Arlington Renegades was based in Virginia, but no, they're out of Arlington Texas...

It is weird leaving out half of the country by geography, but population-wise they are only excluding about 20% of the country. It does make it harder for west coast football fans to give a rat's ass about it. I imagine keeping all the teams within reasonable distance from each other makes it easier to cut down on traveling costs. Perhaps the general rationale.

Those of us true “bitcoiners” who were attracted to it from the jump due its tech and power to change, it doesn’t make any sense to be that and pro-Google ya know lol. I hate that they are so good. Truly sucks. I think my Gmail is at 96-97% full right now lol. Yeah Google ima buy space when I haven’t cleaned shit up in years. I will wait last mn and kinda have to keep it. Ima a fan of Proton email, but of course iit only works if we both use it. I try to turn my friends on to it and Signal like no other.

That was pretty good. I already forgot what they advertising, but its fun to watch Tom Brady get paid to laugh. And I agree with you about Portnoy; at least he's nowhere to be seen. He was already notoriously a douchebag but when he started rugging Solana shit tokens he graduated to one of the most hated douchebags ever.

Totally forgot about this, thanks for the reminder that it exists! Stands are quite sad for a season opener... about 1/5th full.

Today's game, San Antonio vs. Arlington not much better in that regard.

For all intents & purposes, it does look like real football in just about every way. Except the uniforms are much brighter & a bit sillier, and nobody's heard of any of the players.

Its like a requirement that your uniform be a bright pastel color:

Somewhat interestingly, the Birmingham Stallions, who were the 2024 UFL champions, lost their opening game - albeit only by 7 points - to the DC Defenders, 11-18. The other week 1 game that happened on Monday was the Michigan Panthers over the Memphis Showboats (lol), 26-12. I was surprised to learned that 2 of 4 Nacua brothers, Kai and Samson Nacua, both play for the Panthers, and they both play for the Panthers. Not only that, but they both scored TDs. Kai's was a pick-6 as he is a Safety.

Of course the most famous of the brothers is Puca, who rose to stardom on the Rams last year.

That's it. Just 8 teams in the UFL. They really need more than that if they want anyone to take them seriously.

Greatly appreciate the "info" Hueristic!  I just recently found out that a former player of my High School, Malik Turner https://www.theufl.com/teams/michigan/malik-turner play for the Michigan Panthers.  I am definitely going to start watching their games at minimum.  I have been slacking a bit trying to watch the games but a mentioned before I am definitely more intriqued this year than I've ever been for football outside of the NFL/NCAA. 

My cousin use to play with him on his HS team.  I come from a really well known football high school, so we've had a couple guys from that draft year make it pro.  Any who, excited to see him play moving forward.

This next weekend is Week 3 of the UFL. The 2 teams that are 2-0 will be playing each other, Defenders vs. Battlehawks, on Sunday afternoon (after the Panthers/Brahmas game).

UFL Season 2 Week 4 Summary

Uhh... yeah, sure why not. Let's do this.

Showboats (0-4) 9 vs. Panthers (3-1) 27
Battlehawks (2-2) 15 vs. Renegades (3-1) 30

And I think this happens with every kickoff, but this was interesting, never noticed it before. Look how far back the kicker is from the rest of the players:



I guess the reason for doing this is to prevent players from either side from gaining too much speed and catastrophically injuring each other. I remember reading NFL players are more likely to get injured during kickoffs than any other situation, which is why they implemented the "no moving until the receiving team catches the ball" rule (which is also a UFL rule).

Damn I miss the NFL.

Week 8 of UFL Season 2 draws to a close, only 2 more regular season weeks to go before the Semifinals start on June 6th.

Here are the current standings, overall:

D.C. Defenders: 6-2
St. Louis Battlehawks: 6-2
Michigan Panthers: 6-2
Birmingham Stallions: 5-3
Houston Roughnecks: 3-5
Arlington Renegades: 3-5
Memphis Showboats: 2-6
San Antonio Brahmas: 1-7

The league was deemed popular enough for a 2026 season to be confirmed, including raises of the player minimum wage to $62k per year. Would be a lot more exciting if they added a few more teams; preferably from the Pacific and Mountain time zones.

The 2nd ever UFL Championship will be this Saturday night, between the D.C. Defenders and the Michigan Panthers. Both teams are 6-4 and Michigan is favored by 3 points. The game will be on ABC & ESPN+ if you're interested. I might try to watch a bit of it, but maybe not; does it really matter? No.

Why do I continue to do this? To give you an unbiased opinion of the league, of course, and my opinion is the league sucks... The players are bad, the uniforms are bright, the stands are empty, and the rules are silly. If anyone comes across this thread and wanted to form an idea of whether or not they should watch the UFL, the answer is no, don't watch it. Just be a man and wait for the NFL to start, suffer the same grueling grind & the summer doldrums like the rest of us.

Congrats to the DC Defenders for winning the championship game of the 2nd ever UFL season. It was a pretty high scoring game: DC 58, Michigan 34. Here's the highlights if you want to watch them:

There was noticeably more fans in the stands for this game, although the stadium was still less than 20% full.

The Defenders quarterback, Ta'amu (from Hawaii) put on quite a show, throwing some long bombs & running a TD in himself in the 2nd quarter

Wonder why Michigan had to pick "Panthers" as their team name as there is already a team named that in the NFL... not very original.
