Great away win for Manchester United a surprise result today going away to Spain of all places and getting a win with three goals this was not a expected result from this game as united was not in the best of forms prior to this game it seems that United have their eyes fixed in the Europa League this season with this result they are one leg into the finals of the Europa League this season.


A disappointing result for Bilbao in this game because there was too much expectations on them but I think that the red card in the first half contributed to this lose but I expected Bilbao to manage the situation and score at least a goal but they ended up with out scoring a goal

The two England teams played really well tonight; Manchester United come perform extreme well today to score goals within 15 minutes, they now have upper hand to qualify to the Europa League final, and it can be their luck to qualify to the Champions League through the Europa League if they win the Europa Leage.

Tottenham on the other hand also played well despite their poor form in the Premier League; they won their first leg with an amazing 3-1 win at home, they also have the highest chance of playing the final if they can have same performance in the second leg.

We might see Tottenham Vs Manchester United in the final, and any team that won the competition will have automatic slot to the Champions League which means that we can have more than five EPL teams in the Champions League next season.

Saltnes' goal in the 83rd minute could be a sign of the final for Bodo/Glimt. Tottenham is not a team that plays well away and Bodo will be the winner in Norway.

I believe they will get the score that will take them to the next round. In the other match, Manchester United opened the door to the final but the Tottenham-Bodo match is still out there. Unless something goes wrong, I believe the final will be between Bodo and Manchester.

I am not a Norwegian citizen but I have great sympathy for Bodo/Glimt.

Manchester United surprised me today. Playing against the Laliga side, Athletic Club which is considerably one of the to teams in the league and somehow, Manchester United is able to beat them by 3 goals to 0 in their home stadium.

We would say the red card situation had some effects but, considering the fact that, they were already leading by a goal before the red card situation, Manchester United had a really solid play. Taking advantage of the red card to press and be more attacking saves the day for them. If was an important first leg and they made the most of it.

Although in that match Manchester United managed to win over Athletic Bilbao with a score of 3-0. I feel a little disappointed because they should have scored more goals in that match, but it is very unfortunate after leading 3-0 in the first half, they were unable to maximize their advantage, where in the second half Athletic Bilbao only played with 10 men. Man United should have been able to maximize their advantage to create more opportunities in the second half, but it is very unfortunate that they were unable to maximize their advantage and when they got the opportunity they were unable to convert it into a goal.

In the second match they will appear as hosts, I hope at Old Trofford they can perform even better, which is not only able to maintain the aggregate they have but also able to embarrass Bilbao for the second time.

Tottenham Hotspur has stepped one foot into the final of the UEFA Europa League, they have won by two goals on aggregate, so it might be quite difficult for Bodo/Glimt to turn things around in the second leg, even though they are playing as the host.

but even so, I really appreciate Bodo/Glimt's performance in the UEL, because they are able to go this far in one of the most prestigious competitions in Europe.

Another advantage for Manchester United was the red card of Dani Vivian which gave them a new spirit especially after the 1 goal lead which made them more confident in attacking patterns at the end.

This is a good step because indirectly for now Manchester Untied have stepped one foot in the final especially for the second leg later they will play at Old Trafford which makes their confidence increase.

With this result, they seem like they are really serious for the competition now because after all, expecting the EPL cannot be expected so their focus will be better in the Europa League especially with those who are indeed on this path indirectly they begin to maintain hope to return to the Champions League competition next season with the direct path of champions in the Europa League.

The game was quite fascinating as expected but the competitive level dropped when the red card came, which in my own opinion was the major reason Manchester united won this game convincingly the way they did, because I know for a fact that even though Manchester united was leading by a goal to nil before the red card came, they wouldn't have won it if atletico Bilbao was complete, because we all have seen so many games this season that Manchester united lost or drew after they first scored, so the red card was what killed the game for this atletico Bilbao side.

As for the reverse fixture of this game, though nothing is impossible in the world of football, but the hopes of atletico Bilbao are too slim, if they must qualify, they must win Manchester united by four goals difference or by three  goals difference which might end up in penalty shoot out, but Manchester united should not feel too confident so that their will be no room for complacency because it's not over yet.

What makes you think that is because of the red card that made manchester united to win this match? Remember manchester united was leading with 1 goal even before the red card, Moreover I think it was because of the pressure that  made them to concede the red card. And I know most people will still find it very hard to agree with the fact that manchester united didn't win this match because of the red card, but I don't think if that will be necessary for now. honestly the match was very tough from the start i never believed manchester united will perform so well, even to the extent of wining with 3 goals, Manchester united really put a smile on my face I must say.

Honestly Man UTD like playing a draw in the first leg and come back and win the encounter especially at Old Trafford and it has become a tradition for them this season but this time around I believe Manchester United will face the hardest test of them all, the mistakes Athletic Bilbao made against Rangers will surely not repeat itself tonight, if any of such mistake happens then the Red Devils are definitely going through. This game is all about make use of every opportunity you have, convert them all and make your opponent wondering, any team that does that will be the winner. Between both teams I'd pick the host as the favorite, both teams do struggle in their respective leagues but Bilbao are far way better than Manchester United and the goals will be more than 2 this time around, I'd be going for a 4-1 win for the home side Athletic Bilbao.

If they can go for a draw that would not be too bad, always good when you leave the decision to second game because that means you just have to play great in one game. Obviously who wouldn't want to win the first leg 3-0 or something and make sure that you do not even have to play that well in the second leg to continue, but that is difficult, so a 0-0 type of draw would be a lot better and could profit them some time, plus helps with the league too, not that it would matter for them.

However, this is one of the hardest games, probably THE hardest game they are going to play this season, so a draw is a good result because they could honestly end up with a huge humiliating defeat here, I know they did alright so far at Europa, but this will be by far the toughest team they will face.

Since a draw could not happen here maybe Manchester United would try to play a draw the return leg  since they are ahead of that encounter. I believe Athletic Bilbao will definitely come out to play without minding the situation at hand after all they already lost the game but if they eventually get like 2-3 goals then the contest will be heated and Man UTD will be under pressure which we all know they are not good at enduring, all the same...a good win for the Red Devils.

I dont think that Bodo can return from this. Tottenham won 3-1 at home and Bodo/Glimt needs a sensation at home to try and make a comeback. As i see currently we willl see a final between Tottenham and Man Utd and with the results in the first leg this is realistic. I dont see either Bilbao or Bodo coming back from this

It was a great match for Manchester United as they were able to maintain their 0-3 away lead till full time. Like I said, that red card messed everything up and I think that offense does not warrant a red card but a yellow card plus the penalty. It's was really unfortunate that Athletic Bilbao does not have the mental preparedness for the situation they found themselves else they surrendered without a fight. With this result, coming to Old Trafford will just be for formalities as Manchester United will not hesitate to trash them again.

Hujlund was goal bound before being pulled back by Vivian. So the ref made the right call, it was a red card and a penalty according to the rules.


Lyon with a red card played well and took the lead against United while Bilbao was demoralized and it was as if they were wishing for the match to come to an end. At this point, it's okay to say United are already in the final because I don't see how Bilbao can overturn 3 goals deficit at OT.

 It's really annoying that up till now there are still teams who regard Man UTD in a lesser form, as a team who is weak. What happened today was a typical example of 'don't underestimate the enemy '. In course of this competition, I've come to see United in a different light: very tricky and they would act like they don't know what they are doing until they find an opening that they can strike you with.

Same here, Manchester United beating Athletic Bilbao 3 - 0 away from home is something I as a person didn't actually believe will happen. Yes, I believed Manchester United will win Athletic Bilbao or worse case scenario a draw but this score line wasn't expected from my though. At home Athletic Bilbao couldn't score a single goal at Gomez that's really disappointing for a team that thought they will win the competition some time ago.

This is European football for you, Even though someone had expected a win from the United side, but wouldn't have thought about the goal reaching 3:0 which makes it almost impossible for Atletico Bilbao to turn things around, But could they repeat what Chelsea did against Napoli? a remarkable comback at the returning leg in their round of 16 game, which Chelsea lost 3:1 in the first leg and came back and thrashing Napoli 4:1 in that match that put Chelsea through.

Honestly today’s Manchester United match against the Athletic clubs was very surprising everybody with how their performances goes  well throughout the of the match, because nobody expected that kind of performance from them with how their was performing poorly all this while. Even me I was expecting that Athletic club can beating them; but their much effort it was not possible.

I hope if they can continue with this their recently performance, Manchester United will soon over take the Athletic Club from the 2nd position in the table. This is something unexpected because before the match saw the odds of Manchester United quite high if not mistaken 3.15 is not a team that is favored by the bookie but surprisingly they won easily tonight.

Because of Bilbao's card it affected Bilbao's limp game and was well utilized by Manchester United, with the score they have now the final will be closer by they only need to maintain this aggregate victory the final is in sight.

If you see a game scheme like this, I think Manchester United still has a chance to win the Europa League this season, if pu meets Tottenham or Bodoe/Limit.

It is becoming very obvious this will happen. It has been a while we witnessed all English Europa league finals. From the beginning of this season, I had predicted that English big names will make it to the finals. I wasn't the only one who made such a prediction. If you check the result of the poll in this thread, you will discover that the highest number of voters voted for Manchester United, followed by Tottenham and that is exactly what is playing out.
First time I see predictions follow as expected.

The red card was too early for them. I understand how they felt when the Var officiator call for a potential penalty check. It was indeed a penalty, and it took them a little time to deliberate if he was the last man for the consequences of a red card. The most annoying part of the game is that Athletic Club won't be able to score 4 + goals in the next leg to win. With the performance i saw today, Athletic Club cannot win against Manchester United even if there were 3 legs. They were terrible at home which led to their downfall today.

Manchester United defeated Athletic Bilbao with a clear score of 3-0. They gained a great advantage for the return leg and they did this score away. Bilbao's early ten-man draw definitely allowed Manchester United to dominate the game, but one goal came before the red card. After the red card, Athletic Bilbao had a harder time defending.

Manchester United could have scored another goal while catching up with Bilbao, but they did not do so in the second half. I expected Tottenham to win, but I never expected Manchester United to win like this, especially at Bilbao's home.

Why will Tottenham match shock you? The Europa League have reached the stage which they called "jungle have matured" so their was no way I expect a team like Bodoe/Glimt to defeat Tottenham when it is obvious that the only shot Tottenham have at European competition next season is winning the Europa League title. Although I did not stand Tottenham to win because the odd was not encouraging, I bet them over 2.5 and it came through.  Tonight was a great night for bettors.
