New Statue of Satoshi in Switzerland

Nice thing to see a new Statue of Satoshi situated in Lugano, that signifies the presence of bitcoiners in the city. Also, Lugano is a fast growing Bitcoin hub and over 100 merchants use the lightning network for payment. So, having a sculpture of Nakamoto there will invite more crypto users to the country. The image shows transparency, and anonymity, a true explanation of Bitcoin founder.

Switzerland as a whole is a Bitcoin friendly country especially with the city of lugano, I could remember one time when I saw in the Bitcoin magazine when the major of the actually bought some coffee and paid with Bitcoin as shops and business have implemented Bitcoin as a payment method which is a major progress in terms of Bitcoin world adoption. The new statue of Satoshi further verifies the true friendly nature of that community towards Bitcoin.

Design looks cool, depending on the perspective, the statue will disappear, just like Satoshi himself. Also it pertains on Bitcoin's privacy and (psuedo)-anonymity.

And this could be the second statue dedicated to him, Three years ago, Hungary became the first nation to build a Statue of Satoshi.

This is really cool and nice despite that it has no direct discripancy of who Satoshi Nakamoto is, but atleast it represents Satoshi anonymity and his vision. It's a sign of honour to our genius it will be a tourism or tourist attractions centre for those who will like to know about Satoshi and bitcoin.

This is an amazing and good initiative. I'm curious is this organize and done by the government of Switzerland or this is an initiative by the civilians?
If every I will visit Switzerland, my dream country, I will take a picture here and next to Hungary just for this statue.

Jokes aside, based on a quick google search, around 14% of the total population in Switzerland is holding any cryptocurrency: LINK. I guess having a statue increases the adoption because many will be curious on what the statue is and what's it being represented hence, many might try and do some research about cryptocurrency or even just Bitcoin only. Will we be seeing more of these in the future in different countries? I mean Switzerland has been known for being a crypto-friendly country so, I guess those other countries that are also crypto-friendly as well might do it?

Brilliant idea, what a truly amazing design, uniquely the faceless statue can only be seen clearly from the side, while people looking from the front or back will see it vaguely, because there is a gap in the design, the theme of the design depicts the mysterious figure of Satoshi. Created by Italian artist Valentina Picozzi, the statue captures both the mystery and the enduring legacy of Satoshi. It has not been decided where the statue will be displayed but it will remain part of the permanent collection of the Parco Ciani in Lugano.

nice sculpture artwork. but for me, or even laymen would definitely call it a statue of a person holding a laptop. or better yet, it would be called a statue of an IT expert. because I don't see any bitcoin accent there. or at least there is a bitcoin logo, to depict satoshi nakamoto.

I've watched a video of it, and I really like the way it's made. It's abstract enough not to suggest anything specific about who Satoshi is, and the whole thing about perspective and Satoshi being almost invisible is smart and lovely. Switzerland is a beautiful country, and the place where the statue is displayed looks lovely. It's a great balance that contemporary art is sometimes lacking: the balance between abstractness and specificity.

To bad for them they stole a monumental structure which symbolize the greatness of Satoshi. This one just shows that there are crazy people would do all thinking to get something from it. Hopefully there's harsh or heavy penalties will be impose to those thieves.

But for now hopefully that statue will be return on its original place or position soon.

Guys, I don't know why you guys are thinking that the person or the people who had stolen the statue must be aware of Bitcoin and how valuable it is, or they would think that they can get Bitcoins out of the statue, when the reality is, since I'm assuming the statue was made of metal, that it was probably stolen by the homeless, or someone who probably didn't have any money to eat food, or to buy drugs, and they thought they could sell it and fulfill their need for the time being.

What I'm thinking about is why the statue is not placed in a surrounding where they could do surveillance on it through security cameras in the neighbourhood? Or they could install one for the statue itself. Maybe it was never of such importance to them, and whoever installed it, whether an individual or an organization, did it only to cash on the hype and get some publicity on Satoshi's and Bitcoin's name.

Because that is Satoshi and he is well known Bitcoin creator so there's huge possibilities that the one who stole it think about that there's something huge to get if he stole that symbol.

So instead of buying and stashing some sats for himself he decided the best option was to steal the statue of Satoshi in the expectation of a possible hidden codes or seed phrases to a wallet inside the statue?! The statue is made of stainless steel and corten blocks which means the materials are not expensive. Selling it will be difficult since the news about the crime have spread. Only the thief/thieves know the reason for this shameful.

This is truly sad and unacceptable. I was momentarily speechless when I first saw this post (X). How could such a thing happen in a city so well-ordered in Switzerland? From now on, I think that the city will not be well-ordered. The city is now in ruins, where young people break important statues while drunk. We demand that the local authorities find and punish those who broke the statues. We, who understand the need and importance of Nakamoto, all of us need to be aware of and strongly condemn it.

It's always people vs people problem. Forget about frequently visited parks, even homes boundaries aren't secured from thiefs.

Everyone initially thought that the Satoshi Nakamoto sculpture in Switzerland had been stolen, but it was found in a nearby lake. In fact the statue of this great man is currently undergoing restoration work, even we see that the municipality of Lugano is engaged in the restoration of the statue of this man. So in this context it can be said that the municipality of Lugano may deserve the award that they already wanted to give. My idea this was probably done by some stupid person who still doesn't understand the power and potential of Bitcoin, so it's right that perhaps more investigation should be conducted to find those idiots.
